Halibut with pistachio crumbs and a green onion and squash risotto.
Adrienne M.

Had a great dinner here! Service was very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend the halibut ceviche appetizer and Halibut with pistachio crumbs and green onion and squash risotto. So fresh! And bonus... we saw some orca whales from our table... and they have a 10% military discount!

Salmon BLT

We had a good dinner with excellent service. I appreciated that they had several vegetarian options, including a few off the menu. The salmon BLT was particularly good. I'm only going with three stars because the place was really dirty (among the dirtiest restaurants I've seen), even on a slow night.

Great service, amazing food! The philly cheesesteak is just immaculate. I also had the peach cobbler cheesecake, just great!! The ocean view and lighting is just magnificent. Overall wonderful experience!

Yep- they can screw up a hamburger

I've avoided this place for years because of the reviews. But at the end of season, options are limited. I knew based on reviews what to expect - a mixed bag - and that's exactly what we got. It was too cold to eat on the deck (which has a great view). So, we were forced to eat inside. The ambiance is horrendous - it's stuck sometime in the early 90s, with outdated, uncomfortable seating that's been patched. Worst of all was the smell, which LITERALLY smelled like poorly sanitized vomit. When we first walked it, there was a pleasant garlic smell, but once we were seated, the vomit smell became more noticeable, and I was terrified someone had recently barfed in our booth. My husband assured me it's a seafood thing... IDK, it was gross. I asked the waitress what she recommended since the reviews here are so volatile. I took her cue and ordered the broiled halibut with parmesean. I warned my husband ahead of time to order carefully, but he didn't listen to me and ordered a hamburger. Boy, did he regret it. He said it was the worst hamburger he's ever eaten in his life. My cocktail the "Pioneer" was prepared by a bartender with a heavy hand. It was tasty. But the star of the show was my halibut. As I've mentioned in previous reviews, I have a serious aversion to fish. But when you write food reviews, "when in Rome" is key to enjoyment. The halibut was incredible. It was fresh, cooked perfectly - tender, moist, and the crispy parmesean added the perfect splash of flavor. The presentation on the bed of tasty risotto and complimenting asparagus was excellent. Since my husband did not finish his hamburger, our clever waitress did not wait for us to ask for dessert. She waltzed out with a tray of options and tempted him to try something that he did enjoy. Since it was the end of season, I am betting that our experience may have actually been BETTER than normal because they weren't busy. I'd like to try again to see how they handle crowds, but I'm not sure if my husband with agree. We'll see.

Bloody Mary and calamari

Decided to stop here for drinks and an appetizer while waiting to check in room. Sat outside on a beautiful Homer Sunday afternoon. Ordered two IPA's and two double Bloody Mary's. Also ordered calamari for four of us to share. Waited a long time for our drinks. Calamari arrived pretty quickly. It was good but not enough remoulade sauce. Drinks finally arrived. Beer was cold and bloodies were enjoyed. Was surprised when we got the meal and price was doubled to $24. Extra shot was $12. Service so/so and expensive.

I'm confused why the reviews are so back and forth. We had a great experience with great food and a great view. It's the only restaurant on the spit that you can sit outside and enjoy yourself. The salmon was delicious and so were the halibut tacos. Sure, it was a bit pricey but what around Homer isn't? Clay was our server and he was awesome. Drinks were great too. It was one of the best meals we had visiting Homer and enjoyed it over Captain Patties or AJ's Steakhouse.

I would give this place more of a 4.5 than just a 4.... The food was great I had the clam chowder, which was very fresh tasting.. I also had a salmon sandwich.! Only because the pound of King crab was $110.. The salmon was really good, it came with all the fixing, plus two strips of bacon... I had to try half of the salmon alone and off the sandwich .. it was just as good.! The service was spot on. But I seemed to be there for lunch kinda early.! The manger(I believe) probably read that I was a traveler and sat me in the back... which is a great thing.. because you can see the boats and the weather and the coastline.! Just an extraordinary site, if you've never been to a fishing town..! Every time I see it it gets me so excited.. the windows were completely clean so the pictures turnout perfect..!

Salmon BLT

Came here hesitantly due to some bad reviews so I am here to set the record straight! Our food was SUPER GOOD! Seafood Chowder, Halibut tacos and Salmon BLT- were delicious. We ate every bit. The tacos were huge and the fish fresh with a crispy batter. The salmon BLT had crispy bacon, a huge tomato slice, fresh lettuce and a very good dill sauce. Plus the bun was warm and soft. My husband and daughter loved their new tacos. Plus the service was friendly and the views outside our table's window entertaining.

I ultimately chose the night's special entree, ciaoppino, which was not on the menu, because of what it included and all was freshly caught in Ak. I can honestly say I have never had any ciaoppino, or paella, like it before. The dish included prawns, whole tanner crab legs, large prawns, with tails on and clams in the shell, served in a large bowl, with a thick perfectly seasoned tomato base sauce, fresh dill, two thick toast points, and lemon quarters. I was provided with numerous utensils incl. scissors, crackers, various sized forks, a soup spoon and a pick, to take full advantage of getting every speck of seafood out of the meaty crab legs. I blew through 3 wet hand wipes and 2 linen napkins, happily provided by the waitperson, as I made a mess of eating this delicious dish. There is an interesting wine and drink list but I don't drink alcohol, so she suggested making a drink out of a bitter lemon seltzer with pomegranate juice and it was excellent. Not sweet, and had a nice bite. For desert I had the chocolate pot du creme topped with whipped cream, a mint, and, surprise, a small macaron. It was a superb dinner in every way: food, service, view, and I look forward to coming back.

My recommendation is definitely go for the halibut! It was so fresh, complex in flavor and texture, and a great portion as well. The flourless chocolate cake at the end really topped the experience as well. This was just a delightful meal.

An interesting place, and as it opens very early in the morning, it's a great choice for breakfast…read more It's always been busy when we've been in. The vibe inside is old-fashioned, and features antique ranges, but it's definitely a no-frills type of place. The staff are on the ball, and get you seated quickly, with drinks being served fast, and with a smile. We were there for breakfast on Saturday morning at 8am, but have also been there for lunch (Their onion rings are amazing) i got the eggs benedict with bacon, potatoes on the side, I'm not sure what husbands was called, but it featured biscuits n gravy, 3 scrambled eggs, and choice of bacon or sausage. We both got coffee, and it's a diner, so they come around with the coffee pot constantly offering refills. Benedict was only average today I'm afraid, my egg yolk was jammy, rather than runny. The hollandaise was unusual, and quite salty - not awful, just not the best I've ever had, but equally it wasn't horrible. It would not stop me coming back. The potatoes - i believe they were frozen, and not fresh. Again, not awful, just not the best I've had. The bacon was good, the muffin was good too. I ate most of it, so obviously it was an acceptable meal. Husband ate everything but half a biscuit. I'd probably rate the food we had today at a 3, though i have had better food here, so this is not a rating set in stone, my experience was a 4 star, as the staff are lovely, and service is very good, and i will still come back.

What a great place for breakfast in Homer!…read more Super cute. Super easy to find. And super friendly service. We had about a 10 minute wait which gave us time to look over the menu and some of the history on the walls. Once we were seated at a table our server quickly came over with waters and asked if we wanted anything else to drink. A previous review said it's self service for water - we did not experience that. I had an OJ and my husband at tea. The OJ comes in a massive glass, not the standard water cup size. For breakfast I had the burrito which was super good! I was a little hesitant when it said chipotle tortilla - I wasn't sure what that entailed. I'm still not really sure, but I can say the burrito tortilla was a little crispy which helped keep my burrito together when I ate it. The burrito comes cut in half, which makes eating it way more manageable. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy which he also enjoyed. We will definitely be eating here again when we're in Homer.
