Short version: the hostess forgot about us, sat at the bar for 45 minutes, twenty minutes to get apps, another 45 minutes for dinner, by the time they got to us the options for dessert were nil. Burgers were over cooked, lettuce wedge had less than a teaspoon of bacon and watered blue cheese dressing, the seafood chowder was watery and not chowder but potato soup with clam strips in it. While two of our party used the toilet, the hostess that forgot us propped open the door while they they were actively using it. My husband 2 boys and I Went in to have lunch today. The lady who sat us was amazing but after we sat it would downhill. the waitress came and asked what we wanted to drink and eat. we ordered drinks a soda and tea. but needed time to order food. wanted the kids menu but she stated she didn't have one. they could either have fish and chips or chicken tenders. we said okay chicken tenders but needed time for us. 5 minutes later she came with drinks and asked ehat wr wanted to eat. we said what we wanted which was fish and chips and a seafood platter. and a side of ranch. after that wr did not see her for another 45 minutes. in that 45 minutes 3 other families sat down and got their drinks, appetizers and 2 got their actual meals. I got up and asked the hostess where our meals could have been. she instantly looked and asked the waitress. she came back out and said they were preparing it and it would be out soon. 15 minutes later it showed up. I asked for the ranch again as it was not delivered. not even 3 minutes go by and our bill was given to us. and the ranch was never delivered. nor refills on drinks. the waitress not one time said sorry for the delay or anything. we ate, paid and left. in total it took an hour and 15 minutes to sit and get our meals. the food was not amazing or worth thr 120.00 we paid(including the tip). we were not going to tip but felt it would be rude if we didn't. now.... So First off I would like to say this shouldn't be everyones experience but this is mine. Me and my group are visiting so friends we haven't seen in a very long time and of course we got out to eat. We get there it's packed as expected which is fine to let our group just talk and reconnect. We wait we wait and we wait some more. Also we don't see our waiter the entire time. About after 2 hours our food comes sweet the food is what we care about most anyways..... well the foods wrong I got the bay tasting which is supposed to be muscles, clams halibut, and salmon with a side that Is supposed to be a salad or whipped mashed potatoes or a substitute well I asked for a substitute for French fries which the waiter said rudely yes that fine. Well apparently it wasn't I he neglected to tell me because I have mashed potatoes so I just want to look past it but wait my "fresh plate of food is ICE COLD like it has been sitting for a long time my sauce on my plate instead of being a little liquidity was congealed (not happy). Still after that my group should still be having a good time... no they are not out of the 8 people in our group only 2 people have received our food. Well wait 30 minutes for 4 more plates to come out (all classic hamburgers mind you) again all the food was ice cold. After five more minutes another burger comes out this time it's warm not hot but warm. One plate left to show up after a hour her plate shows up 3 pieces of fried fish and some French fries. Again it is cold. Well I start eating my food my 1 scallop is rubbery both of my fishes are ice cold in the middle and my muscles are just shells no meat at all the clams were okay the cold sauce on the plate was pretty bad it was okay with the potatoes though I finish my food and see that everyone is having problems with their food my brothers burger which was the most recent one to arrive tasted like it had been cooked and reheated a few times the fish plate that took so long to come out tasted really fishy and we haven't seen our waiter since. After what was another 30 minutes after we all had finished our food he came back with the check and to finally offer us some more water which he hadn't done since we sat down. He hands us our check and then it makes sense why he doesn't care. He is getting a required tip for our party size which normally I would be fine with usually with a decent waiter that would at least check in with his guests. So after paying we all left 0 extra tip and all on our own receipts left a note. Mine was a simple "Wishing for better service" not to rude but just enough so he knew I was unhappy with him and the food. I payed my 53 dollars and left the restaurant hungrier than I came in. It was almost impressive how a restaurant that has access to some of the freshest seafood in the world can manage to make it taste old, overcooked, and previously freezer burned. The crab was shriveled and dried out, either been sitting around awhile or over cooked or both (and since it is so easy to prepare it's shameful they could serve something so terrible). My rice pilaf had no taste and for some unknown reason they were stingy with the fries, only a few on my husband's plate (remember the price was $70, I'm sure a few more fries would not have broke the bank). We ended up across the street from here and not only did I see a sign for fish and chips, there was indications that this place also serves other kinds of food (my girlfriend doesn't like seafood). We arrived at this restaurant without any expectations and a big appetite. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Upon checking in I noticed all of these negative reviews so I thought "Aw man, I wish I would've seen this sooner" but I don't regret our decision to eat here at all! I mean I see that the menu is a bit pricy compared to other places, but it's Alaska. Pur waitress also said it was ok to ordered from the lunch menu (even though it was dinner time). I ordered the prawns with rice pilaf. It came with green beans, the choice of soup or salad, and some bread for the table. My meal was excellent. The tomato in my salad was not the freshest but everything else was simply delicious and tasted fresh. My husband enjoyed his clam chowder. I tried it and it was nice and creamy. His halibut and fries were also very delicious. The fries were very crunchy and I found myself eating not only my dinner, but some of his fries too. I am glad we came here. Being a Wednesday, about 1/3 of the town is closed, so the Harbor Grill looked like it might just do. First, we had a long wait to be seated - just about an hour. We all ordered the chowder as a starter. When it arrived, it was barely above room temperature, so we had to send it back. 10 minutes later, they served us piping hot chowder that, while nothing to write home about, was edible. The wait for our main course was ridiculously long and, when it arrived, we again had cold food for two of our party. 5 of us ordered fish and chips and they did not have enough tarter sauce for everyone - who doesn't know how to make tarter sauce?. At $27, I got two smallish pieces of Halibut on top of a handful of fries. There was a little pile of shredded cabbage under my ketchup condiment cup. I guess that was the coleslaw my meal came with. Overpriced, cold and greasy food. The refire on the other two meals didn't come until we were leaving. There seemed to be a decided lack of care from the kitchen. Not good. At least the halibut tasted good. Denny's food for a kings budget. I would NOT recommend it nor go back. There is an expectation that goes with price and this place failed royally. First, once we were seated it seemed liked they forgot about us. And the food was just ok. I did the seafood sampler and its only 3 shrimp, 1 dry as dirt salmon, 1 ok halibut, 2 scallops for $32.99. In total it was $136 for 2 adult meals, and 2 kids meals with no alcohol drinks. Thats to much! Captain D's and Long John Silver's has better fish and chips for a better price. Ok. Wow. This is one place I did not consult Yelp for before going. While I can tell off the bat, it is not a prime place to eat in Homer.. I won't lie, I came here because it was the cheapest crab I could find on the Spit at $69 for a pound. Granted, I got 3-4 juicy, meaty legs, whereas for north of $100 you can get a whole AK king crab at Patties. Maybe I should have gotten the crab at Patties. Thankfully, you don't really "cook crab" so I guess I can't say much about the food prep style.. I am scared to hear people got sick from the chicken here though! I would not meander away from seafood here. The mashed potatoes I got with my crab was chunky and good, though the string beans were a bit greasy. My mom got the halibut soft tacos which looked...not so good. We know the fish was fresh but there are better fish tacos out there. My Dad got the seafood chowder (looked a little wtery) with pan seared halibut. Didn't take a good look at what that looks like... I really would not venture from the fish and chips, perhaps the seafood pasta, and the crab. Our server was a wonderful, hard working girl, who had her hands full between running the bar AND serving meals/bussing tables. I had the Seafood Sampler, which consisted of 2 small squares of fish. 2 shrimp. 2 scallops, and a small scoop of mashed potatoes. The food was mediocre, with the potatoes being the best part.
