Yes it was a nice establishment but I feel the prices were outrageous. We got the Alaska tour and it was very small and the salmon and halibut was very dry. I was actually very disappointed for it being right on the spit where it should be fresh fish. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I'm not from here but have been to Alaska before and have had better salmon and seafood else where. I'm sorry to leave a bad review but their food wasn't great if you want a seafood experience. read more

This place is a cool location, bar area was nice and inviting. Great place to sit a have a drink. Good view. For starters, the Chowder was good. Unfortunately, the main dishes were lacking. The halibut fish dish came with mushrooms but there were literally only 3 mushrooms in the whole dish. And the mashed potatoes were a bit lumpy. The scallops were good. But still lacking a bit of flavor. And the risotto was also lacking flavor. Presentation was nice though. If food was seasoned a bit more, I would for sure give a higher rating. read more

Food was good quality but very tiny portions and high prices. Way too expensive for the amount of food you get.

Halibut was over cooked and dry, risotto was undercooked and for the price, it should have been excellent. It's not hard to cook a fresh piece of fish. You can watch a youtube tutorial and learn how to do it in a few minutes. read more

it was one of our first meals in Alaska and it was good but not great. The fish and chips were definitely the better of our two meals. I have had better but that's not saying that these were bad. I did like them, however I think there are better places for this meal on the spit. The burger was medicore at best. A lot of complaints here about the service, but ours was great. We got sat right away, our waiter was prompt and got everything correct. All the while he was cleaning the table next to us from some messy pigs that let their children destroy the booth. Food everywhere on the floor and it looked like a bomb went off. He stayed calm and nice throughout even though I would have probably walked off the job! read more

How can I start Kat was our server she was very sweet to us very uplifting not to but everyone she served. We started out with the crab cakes were awesome according to my wife. I had the clam chowder. It was the Best I ever had and I usually eat chowder if they offer it at any restaurant. This was fantastic. Then I had the cod Taco's. a very Nice portion. Very tasty as well. Wife had a salad. Over all highly recommend it. read more

Stopped here for lunch, as it was recommended by our airbnb host. Super disappointing experience...we ordered a bowl of the "famous" seafood chowder and the grilled cheese with a side salad. It took almost an hour for the food to come out, and we ended up with a $30+ tab. Not what we had in mind for a quick bite. It appeared as if they were understaffed, as the wait time for everyone around us also seemed long. Our server was nice, as was the view from the patio, but that's the only reason why this review gets 2 stars. There are way better and quicker options on the Spit (according to Yelp), I wish I'd tried those instead. read more

First of all, the views! I sat on the patio , it was the most gorgeous day, surrounded by water in both sides, it was beautiful. We started off with drinks. I will say the Bloody Mary was OKAY. it's $18 and in my opinion tasted like your basic Bloody Mary. They add lots of garnishes, but not worth the price. However, the key lime pie martini was unbelievable. Super yummy, super light, end a great recommendation from our server. The appetizers and entrees also came out really quick despite being busy which was nice since that's always a concern! Everything we ate was magical I've been in Alaska now the past 4 months trying all these different foods, hands down best and most freshest seafood right here. The ceviche was so light and fresh. The halibut cheeks were cooked to perfection. I got the tour of Alaska which is pricey yes, however worth every penny. The pistachio crusted halibut with the risotto was phenomenal. Would go back 12 hours south just to eat here again. 12/10 I would recommend. Posted photos as a reference! read more

I'm not sure why this place has so many bad reviews, we typically have high expectations for food especially when dining out and we enjoyed everything we got. We got the calamari and the coconut crusted halibut cheeks, both were very good but if I had to choose one I'd get the halibut cheeks. For out meals my husband got a Caesar salad, had really good flavor could've use just a tad bit more dressing but was still good, and he got the seafood fettuccine. He was disappointed with the portion size/amount of seafood considering the price but it delicious; I don't typically care for Alfredo dishes but this one was very tasty. I had the halibut fish and chips, the fries were very good, the batter on the halibut was good, and the halibut itself was very tender and juicy. They also have a pet menu! We ordered the chicken and rice for our girl and she loved it; it smelled so good I kinda wanted to try it. read more

Was hesitant to come due to the reviews. But I was pleasantly surprised. I did sit at the bar because they were packed. The bar tender was friendly and chatty. I had the Tour of Alaska. It was good! The risotto was a little mushy - but had a good flavor. The halibut and salmon on the dish was good! The shrimp was fair and I didn't not have the scallops (my choice). The crab cake appetizer was great! It is a large restaurant and they were very busy. Over a pretty good place, but there are better ones around. read more

Welcome to Homer Spit. There are many spots to choose from when dining. I chose Harbor Grill. I leaned towards a tapas style when ordering so I sampled two of their appetizers: The Fried Brussel Sprouts and the Ahi Tuna. The Brussels were defined as a "Crispy Brussel sprouts tossed with smoked pork belly and fried shallots, Then topped with a sweet and tangy balsamic glaze". The pork belly, shallots, and balsamic glaze had great flavor but the Brussels lacked any crispy texture. They were served extremely al dente with little to no sign of being fried. The majority of color came from the glaze which gave it a fried appearance but lacked any of the crispy consistency I was looking for. The smoked pork belly, fried shallots, and glaze encouraged me to eat more of the dish than I normally would have. The Ahi Tuna was disappointing. The presentation appeared as though the dish was prepped in its entirety the day prior and placed in a refer. The Tuna lacked any real color and was extremely dry. This can be masked by the copious amounts of Japanese Mayo and poorly concocted Kabayaki sauce. The seaweed salad would have been the only enjoyable aspect of the dish as it tasted very fresh, however, the salad became "lost in the mayo" as I labored through the dish. The service was decent as the server provided just the right amount of attention however the restaurant was relatively empty...Maybe because it was toward the end of service and end of season, maybe it is for other reasons. read more

Came in with a family full of picky eaters nervous about finding something we'd all like and all 4 of us left full and happy! Told us the wait would be 15 minutes and it ended up being closer to 30, but they aren't robots and this isn't a McDonalds (seemed short staffed, as are most places in Homer). Not holding it against them because the food was delicious. One of us ordered the Aurora Borealis Burger and the other 3 ordered various versions of the Buttermilk Chicken and Cheese Sandwich. All were fantastic! Chicken was so tasty with the perfect amount of crispiness--fries were good too. Not sure why so many brutal reviews, this place was yummy! Great views of the Spit as well. read more

$39.00 The taste of Alaska gets you: 2 Shrimp lol 2 of the smallest scallops I have ever seen 1 small piece of halibut 2-3 oz if I had to guess And the Jewel of the plate 1 burnt 2-3 oz piece of Salmon....... How do you burn salmon in Alaska? Look at that picture. We waited 1.5 hrs for our dinner and this is what we get. I tossed the potatoes and veggies look at them in the picture. First night in Alaska and the best part of dinner was my beer..... thank god they didn't have a hand in making that. Do not go here for dinner PERIOD read more

Our first experience was severely lacking. The hostess just completely forgot about us so the already long wait was even longer. The server came to grab our drink order and appetizer order, the person with me had to run back to the car so I gave her my half of the drink order and told her what apps we wanted, they were out of one of the apps and she said she'd come back once my person returned. She never came back. Not even to check the food. After 45 minutes we ended up going inside and talking to the host to track down our server so we could pay and go somewhere else. We've gone twice since and now we only sit in the bar area. The bartenders are very friendly and personable. They're always paying attention even when they look super busy they still know everything going on, food is a little slow but otherwise so tasty. read more

So reading all the reviews of this place had us mildly skeptical, but I'm SO glad we came in. The food here is incredible... and so are the drinks! We sat at the bar and our bartender, victoria , was super friendly and recommended the strawberry rhubarb mojito .... it. Was. So. Good. We order calamari as an appetizer and not only was there calamari, but there was fried zucchini as well... best parts? They werent super overly breaded and they came with this awesome sauce drizzled over it. For lunch I got the seafood chowder in a bread bowl. I dont need to tell you how good it was, just take my word for it and try it. My boyfriend got the quesadilla. Dont even ask me what was in it, but it was one of the best quesadillas I've ever had. It was filled with some kind of seafood and sauce.... I cant begin to describe it, it was just amazing. If you find yourself down in Homer and this place is open, check it out. It is pretty freaking great! read more

Nice location but the food wasn't great. The portions were at least generous but the fish though cooked nicely as far as moist but very greasy and the fries would have been good if the weren't so greasy too. Do they need to turn up the temperature or use different oil, I don't know but they need to fix that. The Coleslaw was not good and since it's easy to make good good coleslaw they need to fix that too! They had tasty cheesecake but expensive!! read more

Husband's halibut fish tacos were mushy! I had the Tour of Alaska. Portion was better suited as an appetizer it was so small!!! Shrimp 2 good size, 2 scallops but salmon and halibut was small. No sides included. Go to Captain Patty's. Better size and better tasting plus sides included. read more

Swung by late on Sunday evening. The staff was friendly and took care of me even though the kitchen was close to closing. I ordered the seafood fettuccine and it was SO good. It tasted fresh and all the seafood was cooked just right. I sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender. He explained that he normally works at another location, but due to staff shortages- he's filling in down in Homer. Being able to eat out at all right now is a privilege and I certainly appreciated how well I was taken care of. read more

We took a risk and ate here with my two kiddos. Literally everything we ordered was perfection. I had the pistachio crusted halibut with asparagus instead of risotto, my mom had the salmon, my kids had the mac and cheese with chicken. All of it was wonderful. We also ordered the crab cakes and I truly would put that as "last meal" level of good. Best crab cakes I've ever had. We sat outside and the scenery was incredible. I had to stop myself from taking a million pictures. Our server seemed annoyed by us, but we just asked for standard things like a high chair and a to-go box. I'm sure he was just having a rough day. read more

Attended a rehearsal dinner for over 30 people at Harbor Grill last night. Friendly courteous staff, service was spot on. Several different entrees were served and all looked amazing. For a party of five we lucked out and got a spot at the bar. Our drinks and appetizers came out super fast and then it went completely downhill. We then waited 45 minutes for our entrees to come out for mine to taste like it had been sitting in the window for awhile before being delivered to the table. I got the salmon and veggies and potatoes which came out very dry and the veggies tasted like they were frozen then thrown in the microwave. There was zero flavor, I had to cover it in salt and pepper. We then waited 15 minutes after asking for our check from the bartender. It seemed possibly understaffed for such a busy weekend and the food was not worth the money whatsoever. read more

Food, drinks, service and atmosphere is phenomenal. The quintessential Alaskan dining experience. Wife and I ordered their coconut halibut cheeks, artichoke dip, new york steak and halibut fish and chips, best we've had in the state. Reasonably priced as well. read more

Meh. It was okay. The menu is lackluster and the food itself was mediocre. Pricey and adequate. We had the halibut ceviche and I had the cod fish & chips. A mediocre business trying to be a 5 star establishment. Started out with a calamari appetizer and was presented with a bland overpriced plate of calamari strips. Ordered a staple of cod fish and chips...3, yes 3 pieces of cod that resembled frozen fish sticks. The only difference was these were breaded and soggy. The fries lacked any form of crispness or flavor. Seafood fettuccine had great scallops but overcooked shrimp. Sauce was full of cheese to compensate for the lack of any flavor. Servers do not seem to enjoy working here and not a smile in the place... On a good side, the beer was good. Be careful of the 3% CC charge on top of the 5 star prices. read more
