Harbor freight tools on E Waterloo Rd in Stockton, California. I'm a blue collar worker and I love to get my hands dirty. I really do like anything that has to do with tools. I can spend countless hours admiring tools. I found myself coming in today for some jumper cables for my younger brother. His car died out and wanted a set for his own. I had a coupon to get % 20 off a single item, so I used it for his cables. I spent a good amount of time walking around the store and looking at the products. Taking pictures and seeing what can I use for my line of work. Several items caught my eye here. Mainly anything that has to do with working on a car. Harbor freight sells all types of tools for different types of fields. I really can't speak on most of them. But I can tell you from an automotive perspective. They do carry tools for us and have a lifetime warranty on all hand tools. So on my next visit I'll probably pick up some extra sockets, hammers and Screwdrivers. I'll start off small and just go from there. Because years back, it seemed like I had the worst luck in the draw. I would always get tools and they would break on me so easily. That's the main reason I stopped coming here. I still stick with MAC tools and Snap On as my everyday hand tools for the type of work I do. Two things really stood out for me today. The over the phone customer service and cashier Marguerite. Like I stated earlier , My lil brother's car died out and I was in the area. So I called here and got a phone quote very quickly and asked if I was coming in, I assume for the cables to be put on hold. But I was shopping around the area for other prices. So I wasn't sure if I was coming in or not. As I was being checked out ,Marguerite was very talkative and really nice. I could tell she likes what she's doing all smiles :):) I always appreciate great customer service. Good job today . So yeah I'll probably be back soon to pick up a few things. I have recently, within the past year, re-discovered Harbor Freight. I am now a fan. If I am bored and have to kill some time, I can wander around this store for a couple of hours. Kind of like a "candy store" for guys (ok, some gals, too!) ;) Sign up online for their online-club to get early notifications of sales and other 'member only' benefits. They are having a great 'After Thanksgiving' and black Friday sale. Get on their mailing list. They frequently have coupons for free items in the store... i.e., led flashlights or screwdriver sets. Probably not the place to buy your tools if you use them everyday in your trade (although they do have a lifetime warranty on hand tools), but for us homeowners that need that special tool once ever couple of years, this is OUR place!! They have tools and items that you didn't even know you needed ;) read more

This store is what it is.. Lots for tools. Definitely not high end and not professional quality, but most time you don't need that. The selection is small, but it manages to jamb-pack this store with all sorts of goodies. I actually like swinging in there for little things that cost a buck or so and would cost me double at Home Depot or Lowes. But I think that if I go for tools I'll go to The Home Depot. I priced online a scerwe gun here, thinking it would be way cheaper but Lowes actually was cheaper, $10 cheaper. So, it's not always budget. Talk about lousy customer service!! I can't even say this without most people won't believe it. There are 2 types of business people: 1. Those who are open until closing time 2. Those who close AT closing time ...or before. Harbor Freight in Stockton is definitely #2!!! I drove here from 30 miles away & yes I got here close to closing time but the doors are open & people are trying to walk in to get that last minute item. They have a certain type of pump I use & in a 50 mile radius they're the only one who still has inventory so I jumped in the truck & raced here only to be shown the door. H. F. do your employees a solid & give them performance based incentives to be over the top helpful with some customer service. That 2 minutes before closing purchase would have helped your cash register, built a simple bonus for the team member & this customer would have left going back 30 miles a little happier. Now that I'm on a roll this is a good time to suggest you quit ignoring customers on your aisles as if we're at a Home Depot store which we all know is pretty bad when it comes to very little customer service. Now before anyone thinks I'm just upset, I too own a business & I operate that business until it's time to close ...as the last customer leaves. I never turn away a customer just because the clock strikes the hour. Also, consider hearing the customers needs before demanding we leave the store just because you want to lock the doors. read more

Been going there for years...cheap tools for cheap prices. But won't buy anything more than $50 there any more because they charge a 20% re-stocking fee. I bought a pressure washer that didn't work. I went somewhere else and got a better one and tried to return the one I'd gotten at HF...and that's when I found out about the 20% re-stocking fee. Why do you charge a re-stocking fee for a defective item? That makes no sense. So if I buy a $800 compressor and it doesn't work and I don't trust the brand anymore and get a replacement elsewhere HF is going to charge me $160 to return it? Really? Yeah, that's not smart business imo cuz they've now just lost one customer who won't buy expensive stuff from them, only the cheap stuff. I did talk to a manager about my complaint and she gave me a one time approval on a full refund. I do appreciate that, she was nice. But, the policy sucks and in the long run is bad customer service and bad business. read more

They have a storewide of tools,air compressors,lawn tools,work clothes Specialty tools . Here my husband was looking for a case for his electronics,he found A large aluminum Case for $24 any where else this would cost up to $50 DOLLARS or more plus he got 20% off purchase. This is a complete score. First to review a business that my husband and I have been frequenting for years. OK.... maybe my husband... but I do enjoy walking in this store and fucking with the staff on occasion. - 'where are the women's shoes?' - 'I heard that you sell lace panties in bulk' The perplexed reactions are my reward. I will say that the sales people roaming the aisles are always helpful and the prices are sometimes ridiculously low. They sell all kinds of tools... all kinds. I came in here to purchase some items for my father. I usually don't like coming here because these type of stores are incomprehensible to me lol. Anyway, store is clean and well laid out. Organised too considering how busy it is, but their cashiers are the reason I'm giving them one star. I didn't get her name unfortunately but when she asked me for my name and address for their customer loyalty I imagine, she said "oh ewww" when I told her my zip code. Then she went on to say that that was such a disgusting part of town and she felt sorry for me. I told her I felt more unsafe where I was actually (on Waterloo) and she replied that I did not look like someone that lived where I did. Exactly what was that supposed to mean? I guess I could pull the race card but that isn't my thing, I just would hope that considering a huge part of their clientele is Latino that she would know better. read more

Went there today with my boyfriend as he needed tools. Coming in and shopping was fine. When we went to check out there were two girls, as one finished ringing up and her customer left we walked over to her check stand. Her name was Corissa. She was on the phone which was fine we were content waiting for her to help a customer. She advised us "go see if the other girl can help you, I'm busy." We let her know we would wait. Took maybe two minutes so no reason to switch. Then she started ringing us up and was pretty much just throwing the things we were purchasing on the counter and slamming them around.. then when she bagged our things she didn't even bag everything we had.. not the best customer service to be representing a good company. read more

Tools and other things are most definitely cheap here. Certain things though I would recommend buying elsewhere. For example my mom bought a safe here and though it was cheap, so were the parts. The knob didn't seem very safe for a safe, since it was made out of plastic. I attempted to install the safe and realizes the knob stopped working. Otherwise if you're looking for tools and general hardware, you can go wrong with harbor freight. They're also very nice about returns. They tool back the safe after 3 months. read more

There are several items available at this store but I truly can't say they are all quality items. We bought a solar light once and it didn't work as good as we had hoped. We then bought one at a larger chain store at the same price and it exceeded our expectations. The price difference was relatively close to the one we purchased at Harbor Freight. Of course, the hot ticket items which we have bought at Harbor Freight stores are the tarps. They offer a variety of tarps from inexpensive ones to some durable ones that are a bit more expensive, still reasonably priced. We hadn't been to this store in years because there is one that had opened in Elk Grove. But we were in town and remembered there were some items we needed such as tarps, nylon rope to name a few. These stores always have a decent flow of customers but I can't say they have lines that one will expect to wait for a long period of time. On that note we obtained the items we wanted and proceeded to checkout. On the other register there appeared to be a quick tutorial on a transaction because there were at least four to five employees watching and listening to a person telling them how to do something. Well the line begins to form quickly because there is only one register now open instead of two. A gentleman who was holding a large box and other items, finally said out loud how heavy his box was getting from just standing there waiting. Well the employees including ours who was checking us out all stated rudley the man could have easily grabbed a cart or laid the box down. I looked at my cashier with a look of surprise because I thought she was focused on us and there were plenty of employees who could have easily grabbed him a cart as well!! When my cashier noticed my reaction she responded with "Oh, uh I'm sorry!" I don't care where the store is customer service should always be provided with professionalism and courtesy. No, not one employee grabbed the man a cart nor assisted him. He pretty much waited until our transaction was over to be tended to at our register. This is was one time my husband asked if I had checked into Yelp so I could make note. read more

The workers are kind of hard to find sometimes, but generally know where everything is in this "mess". It is easy to start spending money here as stuff is cheap and they carry just about everything you could need. This one is a bit more spacious than other I have been to actually. Cheap tools that do the job for you average wrencher. I get stuff to work on my car about once a month and it seems to hold up. The 20% off coupons from joining the mailing list are great too when you need something a bit more expensive like a jack or cherry picker. Good enough store if you are looking for cheap tools that will last only a year or two. Most of the items are made in China which is probably why they're cheap. Some of the items they sell smell very chemically which concerns me. The hand truck i bought smelled for a few months but went away eventually. The wheel came off also after a few months but I was able to fix it. The hand drill I bought also got weaker by the month before I finally had to retire it....well, it was only $15. I did buy a live trap (I was trying to catch a feral cat) that still works 5 years later. Customer service is good. read more

Went there yesterday to get a couple of items, first thing I saw was the line!!!!!!!!!!!! Found the 3 items I needed, then proceeded to the LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG all the way to the back of the store waited for 20 minutes line barely moved got a bad foot so had to bail couldn't take it anymore no real reason for the long slow line except a bunch of MACAROONS WORKING THERE. Less dirty then the HFT on Fruitridge in Sac. That's crazy to say given that this one is located in grand central homeless. Good spot to go especially since they are putting out 25% off coupons now. Prices are cheap, especially with coupons and its obvious that stuff is made in China but if u need non-professional home use tools they work fine. I have had some defective items and returns are always very easy. I sure hope their employees get paid more than minimum wage cuz whenever i need to find something or they help me at the checkout with coupons they are always friendly and helpful.
