Store manager Vinny ! Sold me a welder with a damaged box he told me he would give me a 2 year warranty because of the damage. He never applied the warranty and there is a 200 dollar restock fee to return it. Could have gone and grabbed a undamaged from the back but it was easier to lie to me. read more

The air tank I bought turned out to be junk, it rusted indoors, leaked, the blow off valve malfunctioned, and it came with a cheap, bicycle pump-style air hose and chuck in contrast to what was pictured on the box. I tried to return it they insisted on charging me a 20% restocking fee, even though it obviously couldn't be "restocked" in its current condition. The manager Vinny was rude and unhelpful, the best he offered was another air tank of the same garbage quality. Vinny's a prick, and I don't plan to shop here again. read more

THIS PLACE SUCKS!! They don't stand behind there return policy. They would only take anything back if I bought an extended warranty. For god sake I used this dolly one time & broke the first time. Dummy asked another dummy if we can take this back & both dummy's agreed on not taking it back. Who has the brains around here? They know that they sell shit & you can get away with it with some people & others can't even be bothered taking anything back, it took me 10 minutes to put together & 2 minutes to brake it using it the right way, go figure... Lesson learned here it's not worth buying anything here unless you plan on using it once & through it away. YOUR NOT SAVING ANYTHING HERE EVEN WITH ANY SALE OR COUPONS!!! read more

Yey! Harbor Freight Tools finally opened in Salem in the old Seaworld Plaza. This is a great store, filled with all the hard to find work shop related tools one could ever want or need. -Generators -All knds of sanders -Wielding Equipment -Workshop organization -Carts & Dollys -Wood Chippers -WOrk Gloves -Drain Cleaner kits -Cool Solar panels and batteries for hunting and camping. Prices here are fantastic. Now I don't have to go to Amherst, NH to shop. Its all here!! read more

I seriously love this place. I needed a drill. Was willing to pay some serious coin at Home Depot or Lowe's. Then I thought, "you know, I'm not a master carpenter or tradesmen, I just need a light drill for around-the-house repair/projects several times a year, not for daily use. Why go overboard in 'bombing a house to kill a mosquito'?" Since then, I have been there for all sorts of things. Gardening gloves and tarp, small tool kits, painting tools, general utility items and more. I never leave empty handed. I can't speak to the big machines for the tradesmen, but will definitely take a look as needed. Thumbs up! read more

I have visited this store many times and they almost always have what I need. The store is clean, well arranged, well stocked, and easy to navigate. The associates are usually helpful but sometimes can be obnoxious. I once witnessed a cashier humiliate an older lady who did not understand the applicability of a certain coupon. But mostly they just seem over worked and stressed. My impression is that Harbor Freight and CEO Eric Smidt do not support them well. As a result, the store seems to have a very high employee turnover rate. As an example, I recently visited to buy an air drill. I called in advance, and was told that their inventory system indicated that there were five drills in stock. When I arrived, there were no drills on the shelves or in the back room. When I asked a frazzled employee how this could happen, he said that it happens all the time and the employees have to take the grief for it. Eric Smidt: Your job is not just to prop up the Chinese economy. How about providing your employees some support? And why don't you start by providing them an inventory system which is not a joke? read more

Methinks not, ever, never again. Tried to return some merchandise to the Salem store, 2 of which were defective. They wont take back any merchandise 1) without a receipt or 2) that's more than 90 days old. Selection and Prices are very good but considering the mediocre/sub-standard quality of much of their merchandise and lousy return policy, the prices suddenly arent so good. Insult to injury, the shaved-head-manager copped an attitude and told me they "have the best return policy in the industry." I asked "better than Lowes, Home Depot & Sears and he said 'Yes'". Wrong ! I proceeded to Sears, returned 3 items about 5 months old with NO RECEIPT that Sears took back w/o issue, and issued me a store credit. My purchase of sockets and wrenches were more expensive at Sears than at Harbor Freight Tools, but the shopping experience was worth every penny of it. Ordered an item online 4 weeks ago today, was promised shipment between 7/1-7/8 when I had reached out to them to find out when it would be shipped. I was merely tagging along for this outing, but have to admit scrounging around tool stores can be interesting. Though the perpetual smell of rubber doesn't do my sinuses any favors, eventually I get past that. They were having a big parking lot sale, but since they couldn't get permission from the powers-that-be to actually use the parking lot, it was more of a sidewalk sale. Made things a little cramped as the place got busier. Some good deals. Hubby was going for some specific tools for working on the cars that he claims he doesn't already own. Let him have his fun. In particular, he wanted a 12-ton floor shop press that was half price at $99. He got some other gizmo, but I didn't pay attention. Long gone are my days of doing my own car repairs. That's his domain now! ;) They have another big sale coming up for Labor Day weekend. Guess who will be back then? Ha! read more

I was charged a 20% restocking fee when I returned a gas generator with my receipt, the day after I bought it, just because I had opened the box. I had not used the generator and the clerk saw that no fuel had been added. Home Depot, Lowe's, Sears, Walmart or probably ANYWHERE else would never have charged me a restocking fee so I will stick with them for peace of mind when I buy things. read more

The management at this organization do not understand basic business concepts. The idea of customer acquisition and sales revenue generation (backbone to any business entity) is too difficult for their management team to understand. A Harbor freight store had no inventory of a 4 ton bottle jack I needed on hand. The management was unwilling to sell the display model. read more

NEVER BUY a warranty from this place. I Purchased a 2 year warranty and the product failed inside a year. They offered a one time replacement and wouldn't extend the warranty even though it was paid for. Total RIP off. I will never buy a power tool from them again. read more

Went to the Salem NH store on Labor Day,2019. The store was very busy check out lines were full. So I got what I needed,stood in line maybe 15 minutes, which was expected for how busy it was until I got to register and the kid looked at me and said he was going to lunch and closing the line. No warning that he was going to close just stated NH law says he has to take a lunch and walked away. Didn't call a manager or someone to take his place. I looked at the people behind in disbelief, looked at the other lines and decided I wasn't going to wait again and left my stuff there and walked out. Awful customer service read more

I've shopped here several times and I can't remember a time when a floor rep or cashier greeted me with any sense of wanting to help me or that I was a valued customer. What a horrible experience! We bought a power washer as a gift and when it was opened up it had been used and rusted. We called the company and they will not stand behind their product and will not help to fix this situation. Unfortunately the power washer is not in usable condition and we are out the cost of a power washer. The manager told us they do not check products to make sure that what they are selling as new is actually new. Based on the box, it was repacked nicely. If I could rate this company with a minus 5 stars I would. Order was paid and I was told it would ship right away. THEY HAPPILY TOOK MY MONEY AND MANAGED TO GET ONLY THAT PART RIGHT! My order was broken into pieces and no information at all was provided for most of it's shipping information,other than it's on backorder. I called just now and was on hold 17 minutes. I spoke to a kid who couldn't give me any information,to include even finding my order at all. I gave my name and phone number to him! I asked for his manager and he said "oh God hold on!" .... So sorry to inconvenience him . Was then informed the manager was too busy to talk to me,meanwhile the kid still can't find my order.. I needed these tools for work and gave this horrible company a shot....my mistake. I ended up saying just cancel my order ,the kid said he would be able to find my order to CANCEL it, but not to help find any information I requested!
