My neighbor and I were so glad that staff were able to help with a list of items she needed for her studio art class at H.S.U.! Staff was more than willing to cut the various pieces of wood for her and show her different options. We even had a staff recommend smelling a beautiful purple wood that smelled like sweet and musky notes of cologne/perfume! Staff was very courteous and friendly to the point where they even suggested going to another shop since they didn't have other cheaper options for a staple gun. I am glad this is a spot I had a chance to experience b/c we felt we were supporting a local shop. The only downfall while at the counter was learning how dragonflies get caught in their building because they fly very high up into the ceiling and get caught up there. Unfortunately their windows are not opened and sadly I forgot to ask if that is even an option.

Sadly, since the business sold and has new management the repair department is practically worthless. Wait times for repair are routinely 2 to 3 months and they tell you this like it's no big deal! Maybe that works for home owners or hobbymen who don't use their tools to make a living but for tradesmen it's a joke! They desperately need to hire more people or teach the ones they have how to keep up. I still recommend Humboldt Fasteners for your power tool needs and most things to supply the trades but the repair shop stinks! I can't wait for someone to open a small tool repair shop in our area cuz that's where I'll be headed. Come on local business. Do better!

Prices are really affordable and the employees are courteous. It's pretty convenient, with pre-loaded, pre-priced cartloads of wood. You can get anything from a cartload of irregular chunks of wood for $15 up to a $35 cart of oak. Additionally you can purchase pallets of wood onsite or for delivery. My complaint is that a lot of the wood I've bought there lately is hissing and sputtering, taking a lot more time to get started, and not throwing much heat out. By contrast, a more expensive bundle of seasoned campfire wood bought anywhere else will be burning quicker and hotter in a fraction of the time. With that in mind, the savings and convenience of buying here are countered by the fact that a lot of the wood doesn't seem properly seasoned. Additionally, brief internet research indicates that wetter wood causes more rapid creosote buildup in the chimney or stovepipe, which can be a hazard over time.
