Palm + two air plants for $10. And I love them. Very healthy plants.

Many people told me that this place is expensive so I never went here. I left feeling like I got a very good deal and I thought the prices were very reasonable for high quality plants. Seems like long-term Arcata residents love this place cause the staff seemed to know everyone who came in. I went in looking for air plants. From the moment I went in the staff was continuously asking if I needed help. Everyone here seemed very knowledgeable about plants and I got exactly what I needed. I got two air plants and a palm all for $10. I'll for sure come back here. They have such a great selection.

Great helpful staff, and lots of selections. The pottery planter section is large with lots of options. The herbs are plentiful this time of the year. Also many vegetable starts to chose from. Great location with very convenient parking with easy access in and out. I ride my bike to this place.

This shop is amazing!! There was a much larger selection of indoor/low-light plants than there were tillandsias when I went, but perhaps I came on the wrong day. They also have a large assortment of outdoor/landscaping plants in their back section. The staff was really friendly and informative- and oddly enough I was rung up by a gal who had gone to my high school over 5 hours away! I also went on the first day of spring, and all their bulbs were some 75% off (they were ready to be planted!) and I ended up picking lots of airplants, and two maiden hair ferns as gifts for my coworkers. Maidenhairs are a very delicate species, susceptible to sunburn, dry-death, and yellowing- these were in perfect shape! Now that I live in Reno, I can't make a casual trip back to Mad River, but I know where to go on a plant hunt whenever I come home to NorCal.

I got all the makings for a terrarium and was thrilled with the results :)

Orchids For the People is just that - you can literally spend hours walking through the green houses - viewing and enjoying 100s of species of orchids in one place. Its such a cool space to check out and find that one of a kind living treasure of your own. Unlike cut flowers, these amazing beauties seem to bloom forever and with just a little effort as I have found. I have purchased different orchids on three separate occasions here over the past year and each one has been a beautiful specimen that lasted for several weeks and even months, was relatively low maintenance and easy to care for. I just followed the instruction sheet they provided and mother nature did the rest. Not one of them ran me more than $25 either. The range is about $15-$25 depending on the size. You can rent them for large events as well I believe. The great folks at OFtP made it possible - their knowledge and attention to detail instructions made my caring for these delicate beauties not only easy but they are all still alive and growing - just waiting to see if they will re-bloom again! Now, I'm looking forward to adding our next orchid (or two) for the holidays! 00132
