One of the coolest live plant places in the area. This small independent family run business is…read morelocated in Dow's Prairie out behind the airport in McKinleyville - take Norton out past the golf course and follow the road around until you see the signs. Orchids For the People is just that - you can literally spend hours walking through the green houses - viewing and enjoying 100s of species of orchids in one place. Its such a cool space to check out and find that one of a kind living treasure of your own. Unlike cut flowers, these amazing beauties seem to bloom forever and with just a little effort as I have found. I have purchased different orchids on three separate occasions here over the past year and each one has been a beautiful specimen that lasted for several weeks and even months, was relatively low maintenance and easy to care for. I just followed the instruction sheet they provided and mother nature did the rest. Not one of them ran me more than $25 either. The range is about $15-$25 depending on the size. You can rent them for large events as well I believe. The great folks at OFtP made it possible - their knowledge and attention to detail instructions made my caring for these delicate beauties not only easy but they are all still alive and growing - just waiting to see if they will re-bloom again! Now, I'm looking forward to adding our next orchid (or two) for the holidays! 00132

Purchased a "small size" Giant Sequoia tree from Jonsteen Company and couldn't be happier. After a…read moreweek off for vacation and a visit to Muir Woods in SF, I came back wanting to plant a small tree of my own. I understand, the Giant Sequoia, if taken care of will outlast my family and I (lifespan 3,000 years). It was cool to see the ageless wonders of the California Redwoods and Giant Sequoias up to Muir Woods, I had to get one of my own to plant. I received my small size tree in the mail via USPS in a small tube. Since I worked all day, I came home and was excited to plant the tree in the evening before bed since I did not want the plant to sit too long in the plastic wrapper. Took me a few minutes and everything was set. Along with the small tree came a receipt, some instructions, some history sheet and a sticker. All in all a satisfied online order customer. Check out their website for cool trees and seedlings to plant: https://sequoiatrees.com/
