If you are visiting northern coast of California and have a free day where you would like to wander…read moreoff and get lost at a nursery nearby Humboldt Redwoods, come spend it leisurely at the big Miller Farms Nursery! It appears that the locals do shop here so I feel at eased calling ahead and checking Covid19 hours before heading over. New time is posted in picture below. There are about 4-5 farms in 10 miles radius . This is definitely one I highly recommend to visit in addition to Mad River Nursery. My purpose check out plants local to the region and also my favorites succulents. They have both and many more! Pots pots pots and plants plenty to chose from, to buy, or to admire. Let me tell you I want to buy them all so selection is a solid one. On everything else but succulents. Statutes, fountains, rocks, sand etc etc. There is a new policy wear your mask and stand 6 feet apart! Although most plants I look at I fall in love with and I couldn't help appreciate the selection I am saddened to say their pricing as are steeper than where can thanks for resources I am able to get my hands on.

If you are an actual farmer looking for supplies, look elsewhere. A damn shame this place. Go to grocery outlet and get the same bags of soil for $30 cheaper. Unbelievable.

One of the coolest live plant places in the area. This small independent family run business is…read morelocated in Dow's Prairie out behind the airport in McKinleyville - take Norton out past the golf course and follow the road around until you see the signs. Orchids For the People is just that - you can literally spend hours walking through the green houses - viewing and enjoying 100s of species of orchids in one place. Its such a cool space to check out and find that one of a kind living treasure of your own. Unlike cut flowers, these amazing beauties seem to bloom forever and with just a little effort as I have found. I have purchased different orchids on three separate occasions here over the past year and each one has been a beautiful specimen that lasted for several weeks and even months, was relatively low maintenance and easy to care for. I just followed the instruction sheet they provided and mother nature did the rest. Not one of them ran me more than $25 either. The range is about $15-$25 depending on the size. You can rent them for large events as well I believe. The great folks at OFtP made it possible - their knowledge and attention to detail instructions made my caring for these delicate beauties not only easy but they are all still alive and growing - just waiting to see if they will re-bloom again! Now, I'm looking forward to adding our next orchid (or two) for the holidays! 00132
