I bought some metal loading ramps at Harbor Freight. All of the edges on the ramps were razor sharp, probably because the ramps were stamped and no effort was made to dull the sharp edges. Not surprisingly, I cut my hands while attempting to use the ramps. So, I boxed them up and put them in my garage. Because the ramps were defective (sharp edges) and unusable, I tried to return them to Harbor Freight. The manager told me that it had been more than 90 days since I bought them and Harbor Freight would not give me an exchange, refund or store credit. Harbor Freight sells highly defective products. I will never buy anything from them again and encourage others to do the same. read more

I truly believe Harbor Freight gets an unfair, bad rap. The general public views their tools as inferior and not very durable. I think the reason for this reputation is their prices are so cheap and they offer discount and free product coupons in the mail. Sometimes you will find these coupons in the back of local magazines as well. Another reason is that their tools are not the "usual" name brands you could find in a Lowes or Home Depot. I'm here to testify, brother, that these tools ARE durable and they do the job. I have yet to get a tool that fell apart on me and all the tools I have purchased from HF are still with me, going strong. I bought a 4.5" angle grinder with a masonry blade a few months ago and it cut through my concrete like butter. Today, I bought a wood cutting blade to take out the root that was destroying the concrete sidewalk I had to cut out. The thing I love is that they let you use multiple coupons here. My item (4" wood carving disc) was listed at $29.99, but after the friendly cashier applied the 20% off coupon and the coupon for a free 24 pack of AAA batteries, my final price was $25.88. The batteries were worth $4.99 (according to the receipt) and the discount was $6. So that was basically an $11 swing in my favor! The last time I visited this place I had too many coupons, so I let the woman in front of me use my extra 20% off coupon. She sure was happy. A few years ago, they offered free products with absolutely NO purchase required. These were things like: tape measures, volt meters, scissors, flashlights, etc. So I used to collect these coupons and then the whole family would visit separately collecting our tools. We would give these products away as gifts. I think LOTS of people did this because Harbor Freight stopped the "no purchase" part of the free item. I bought a Preditor 3500 and within the first 15 -20 hours it would shut off and after cooling off it would run for maybe 30 - 40 minutes. When I went to return it and and Get the the Preditor 2000 I was charged a 20% restocking fee which was $144 dollars. THISus is straight out stealing. THISus is straight out stealing. I've said this before, each store of a chain store is basically the same. Same products, same prices. The difference is customer service. This one misses the mark. Over the past few years the quality of offering has improved. Tools are being designed to meet needs of the professional. With a good assortment of hand and power tools to appeal to all types of budgets. That's said this store is not "inviting" it's cold and impersonal. There is a huge turnover in employees, as a result they are lacking in basic store layout or product lines. When asking for information they act as if you are an inconvenience rather than the reason they have a job. If you know what you want - basically in & out you're probably ok. But if you have questions maybe you should go to one of the other stores read more

4410 Central Albuquerque, NM 87105 # 774 On November 30, 2021 around 4:30 pm, in the checkout line I was approached by this very rude and condescending guard to move out of one line to a longer wait line. I had no idea that Two lines had formed I was just in one of them. He rudely barked at me to move to the end of a longer line. As I considered his bark, I was promptly put off by his attitude. Instead of moving to a much longer line I just left my choice of purchase. I left the store feeling rather upset. Just his attitude towards me was enough to make me leave. He was rude about how he ordered me. He did not ask, he did not have a friendly tone. It was an order with his sharp squinting and mean eyes. I didn't enjoy my day at this store because of the guard and his rude attitude. I have bad knee issues to start with and to bark at me to move to a much longer line that I had no I was even formed, I just chose to leave and get no purchase at all. This was on November 30,2021 around 4:30pm. This aging thin, white haired rude guard had a condescending tone and was not friendly at all. He should be checked for his behavior towards purchasing customers. Your customer service speaks volumes about how friendly service is. Why would anyone wait to visit if this is how paying customers are treated? I certainly do not want be a customer here at this location at all if this is your guards reflection on people. Bad guard! My last experience with Harbor Freight was at this store. The cashier was a lumbering smartass. If I hadn't been in a hurry, I'd have left the 30 gallon compressor at the register. As it turned out, Lowe's offered a similar compressor for a little less and without the smartass. Two friends witnessed the same thing. All three of us have now stopped going to Harbor Freight. Quality tools at ridiculously low prices--that's their slogan. My husband of course brought me into this establishment in order to get some "necessary" items to complete the honey-do list. So, of course I'm going to support it, going there gets the jobs done. I stopped in to pick up a work bench Sunday I have been wanting but because of my job it's hard to make it down during the week. They are out of them. Ok, so the "helper" says they are getting 10 on Monday night. I ask if I can pre purchase one and pick it up Tuesday. He says no but there is no way they will sell out before I get there. You guessed it, 4:30 on Tuesday I am politely told they just sold the last one and sorry they have no clue when they will get more. I was told they should have one in Los Lunes if I wanted to drive down to try there. So basically if I don't like it too bad. I know it's whining but with customer service so horrible now a days, Harbor Freight in the past always seemed to go further than other places. So I guess they are just another Home Depot or Lowe's. Harbor Freight is one of my favorite places to go shopping. Their prices are excellent and they also have really good deals in their sales papers but you have to be careful on some of the stuff you buy. Most stuff is made very cheap. I bought a drill and used it once for a few minutes, then it broke. So beware before buying something! Other than the drill breaking I have had really good luck with other products bought from there. read more

Probably the worst experience ever! I've been discriminated as a woman in a tool store before, but this experience took it to a whole new level!! I walked in and went to the register to speak with the employee, who happened to be a manager. I waited 20-30 seconds for the manager to acknowledge me before I "cleared my throat" to get his attention. He turned around and gave me the once over before *rudely* asking me if I had a question. I replied, "yes, that's why I'm standing here." I asked if there was someone that could help me find a wheel for my dog's wheelchair and he looked at the wheel I brought in and said, "we don't have anything like that here." I'm pretty pissed now, so I said, "is that so? Because the gentleman next to you (employee) helped me on Wednesday and he said all I had to do was bring this in (the wheel) and someone would be more than willing to help me. Obviously that person is not you, so I would like someone else to help me. I will be in the wheel section," and I walked away. Another gentleman came to help me, and he took one look at what I brought in and said, "nope, sorry" and turned around. I was livid! I said, "wait a minute! You haven't helped me!" He came back and looked at what I brought in and his tune changed. "Oh, you can use this wheel, or this one," taking different wheels off the shelf. However he wasn't willing to help me make a decision, so I thanked him for the little help he offered and expressed my frustration at the level of customer service I just experienced. This is a store where "buyer beware" really comes into play. There is a lot of Chinese crap here. A quick Google of HF reviews gives you a tip of what you're in for. You can read horror stories for hours. So why use it? THE GOOD, BAD & UGLY TRUTH There are times when the average person will use something only once or infrequently. This is the place to get that tool. Sometime it's cheaper than Walmart. If you need a single file, replacement grinder wheels, gloves etc. maybe this is the place. If you thinking about getting a higher end item from here, I strongly suggest you do your homework. There is a site online at toolkit.com that will give you a list of 1000 or so items that's been compiled from across the web from people who use tools daily. it details what items are worth purchasing and which are crap. This is not a totally comprehensive list, mind you, but it will help you navigate what's what in HF. Some of it discusses the comedy of this place. The jist is; NEVER BUY ANYTHING CRUCIAL THAT YOUR JOB OR LIFE DEPENDS ON HERE. I've heard of contractors using this place as a lending library. They keep the receipt & use within 30 days, return. They have a few programs to be aware of. Txt, Email, Postal and buy-in. Sign up and you'll get coupons in the mail along with weekly fliers. You can almost always find a 20% off coupon and sometimes 20% off plus one free item in a mailer, via txt or online.. (Warning: Which they may try to charge you for the free item) FIND & USE THE 20% OFF COUPON. One per day/visit. The inside track club is there buyers club and I don't spend enough there to find they would be worth it. But if you do join, look for the $10 gift card online and that will help you get your money worth from the purchase price of the club. Harbor freight does well because many households use contractors, repair man and so on for things these days. For the weekend hobbyist, tinkerers and small project guys this is the place to pick up your starter tools or things you will use from time to time. I have heard this rule of thumb, if you use it enough to break it/wear it out then go buy yourself a quality item. There are a few quality items at HF & if you wait for sales/ use coupons, you can do very well here. If you want 100% quality 100% of the time, go elsewhere. I know they often ask for a 20% restocking fee even if you walk outside & go back in. Customer service is known to be bad. I've seen the bad attitudes, the indifference, unprofessional staff and the frustrated consumers. Go in expecting this & you are prepared. Brought back unused $80 item 2 days after the 90 day return policy and they said "too bad" no store credit or anything - like it was a "gotcha"predatory pawn shop. Go anywhere else at all costs as this customer service mentality was status quo for management so no wonder it is pervasive throughout the entire chain. read more

Went to harbor freight in Coors, twice. First time they stayed that the coupon I had was expired. So a person behind me offered his, the cashier said he could not use cuz it wes not my coupon. Went back with the 20% coupon and they stated that would not work, had to be for the specific item. So said if there was a coupon for a specific coupon for the item you must use that one instead of the generic coupon. Not happy poor customer service.will not return to that store.. read more

As I'v ebeen doing some home repairs over the past few months, I have had to go back and forth to this location of Harbor Freight multiple times. Sometimes twice in one day. The staff have all been friendly and knowledgeable across the board. More than once when something was hard to find, two three of the staff would search the floor to find what I needed. They always gave me good answers to my questions, and if they didn't know, they didn't give me a line of bull. I am trying to write more Yelp reviews now because both the good and the bad reviews have helped me with my business and to manage my employees. Don't do it. Bought a $50 impact wrench that didn't work, returned it unblemished in the box the very next week and they would not exchange it. It got thrown in the garbage in front of their store and I went to Sears and got a Craftsman. Paid a little more but at least it's high quality with a guarantee. Over the years, I've spent thousands building up a supply I need to do the job. Harbor Freight has more tools break than all the other competitors combined. If you're looking for a cheap Walmart knockoff, that might work once or twice, this is the store for you. If you want a dependable tool to do the job right EVERY time, go somewhere else. Love the prices and selection. One guy in particular kind of ruined it for me. Claimed he didn't even have a trash can when I asked if I could throw something away. Made me walk the entire sidewalk to the end where the trash can was. Then wouldn't give me one of the free flashlights in the ad because I hadn't brought my ad in. Let's all be fair. If you are looking for a sweet power tool to last a lifetime, Harbor Freight may not be the place. But, they carry the same warranty as the big guys on their hand tools at less than half the price. Plus, I have a 21 gallon air compressor, chop saw, and double cut saw that I have pounded on for years with no issues. I wish I'd never given away the miter saw I bought there 5 years ago. My neighbor still uses it with no issues. I am a big naysayer of HFT, but still shop there. They make a great product for many things other than electrical tape. Please give Harbor Freight the respect they deserve. Plus, no flak for returning anything that breaks or doesn't work. I was looking for a good tool cart for work. A couple to the people I work with have the one from Harbor Freight and they are very happy with it. I looked around quite a bit and decided to get the 30 inch, 5 drawer, in black from Harbor Freight in Albuquerque. I called all of the stores in the area and only one said that they had what I wanted in the store. Unfortunately, this store was almost 30 miles away from my home, but I didn't know when I would find another one. I guess these tool carts are popular. I called again just to make sure that they had the one I wanted in the color black and they guy on the phone, Dave, said that they had one left. I left right away to pick it up. On the way there, I called again to inquire as to the condition of the box, because I wanted one without dents and scratches (like most folks). When I got there, I immediately got the little slip of paper indicating exactly what I wanted and went for the checkout. When I got to the register, I was told that they did not have any in stock and had not had any for several days. I was not happy. I went only because I was assured, by Dave, that they had one. Turns out that they only had the smaller size and that I could get that one. Dave thought the one he saw was the larger unit... it was the smaller one... even after I verified twice. Went from not happy to angry. I went on a round trip of more than 50 miles, burned more than an hour of my time and used up about 4 gallons of diesel.... for nothing. This guy Dave really needs to sharpen up his game. Putting a guy like this to answer the phone and provide customer service was a mistake. I will still get the item I want, but I will not go to the Juan Tabo store again. read more
