I think Mrs. E saw a rave on Yelp and decided to give it a go. We've been back twice, since. Nobody in here is talking. Nobody, except my wife, whom I swear could talk to anybody. Nice setup with a dozen massage chairs for pedi and almost as many for manis. They are playing a loop of techno holiday music which is a bit surreal. Like Christmas carols on steroids. Bump-Bump-Bump-Bump. Mrs. E. claims the last polish lasted a month, which I guess is a long time when you work with your hands. They're very fast and do a nice job. Happy Nails had been my nail salon of choice when I lived in Waterford, and even after I moved, I still went there on occasion. Such was the case last week. I went there on a Friday and there was a very short wait. I wanted a pedicure and a manicure. The main problem here is the lack of communication. Everybody talks VERY quietly, and not everybody seems to understand; it really depends on who you get. I told the technician that I wanted a gel manicure no less than THREE times. I am not very knowledgeable about the different substances used for polishing nails, but I do know about gels. Well, somehow, I ended up with shellac, both on my fingernails and on my toes! I've never had anyone put shellac on my toes & then put them under the drying light. She was also pretty rough on my toenails. I know they did need some professional attention, which is why I went there, but she dug so much that they hurt for several days afterwards. Her grip was very tight, both on my toes and on my fingers. I had shown the technician the color I wanted -- a sparkly reddish pink. Well, when she went to do my fingernails, she skipped every other one and I thought that was interesting but didn't think much of it. But then, she started to paint the nails in between yellow. I couldn't figure out why & stopped her and told her that I'd chosen the red (which we'd both pointed at several times). I then looked at my toes and saw that she'd done those in yellow! :o I'm not sure why I didn't notice when she did it. I pointed it out and asked her to change it. She had some discussion with one of the owners and then she painted over them, which was ok; I'm sure it will last a very long time. The real kicker was the cost. It really bothers me that they don't post their prices (although they used to). I figured it would be $50, maybe $60. Nope. $82! Sadly, my nails weren't so happy after all. read more

I just had a wonderful experience at Happy Nails! I made an appointment for 9:30 and they were ready for me when I got there. I apologize if I misheard but I think the lady's name was Hom (pronounced home) and she was awesome! I was there for just a regular shellac manicure and she was gentle, quick, efficient and my nails looked great. one of my cuticles had a cut on it when I came in and she was so careful not to hurt me. And it only took 30 min! The lady the was next to me started the same time as me and was getting a full set and looked like she had about 15 min left till she was done and they looked amazing also. I will be back for sure! **update: 3 weeks later nails are still perfect, obviously grown out and need to get done this weekend. Mindy and Teddy are AMAZING. So sweet and polite and I felt like such a princess after a much needed "me" day. They're very personable and will make sure you get exactly what you're looking for. The salon was clean and appropriate precautions for COVID 19 were made. Mindy did my pedicure and did not rush the service in any way. It was so relaxing. Teddy did my manicure and well... LOOK AT IT!! It's beautiful. I get my nails done because if I don't, I end up picking at my hands (having anxiety sucks). I came in the other day with hopes of finally getting my acrylics removed after a month! They had stones on them and were thick in design. Now, I'm not new to this process. It sometimes takes HOURS to remove nails like that. Let's start from the beginning though -- When I arrived, I was immediately greeted by who seems like the owner. He was like a breath of fresh air in this frigid and cold weather. Very open, outgoing, and easy to talk to. I told him what I needed and he told me to take a seat. Straight to the point, but quite a wait since they were busy. It didn't matter to me since I was so determined to finally have my acrylics removed that day and be a free woman again! The woman at the first desk on the left side is the one who assisted me. I was unable to get her name. She was swift with the process and made sure to get my nails in some acetone, making sure to soak it and drill it down regularly. She was fantastic and it wasn't rough at all. Didn't cut me or anything. I live all the way in Southfield, but I would drive all the way out here just for her! I even asked if she could file down and cut my nails. She applied clear shellac for me at no extra cost. My nails look awesome and I highly recommend this place to keep up with the health of your nails. read more

My mom got married back in October. I live out in Holly now but when I lived in Pontiac I would go to this nail salon a lot. Now that I live in Holly it's a 30 minute drive for me. I took that drive because I really did like this salon. I didn't think the colors were that off the first time, but I don't know if you can see in the picture they were just so many spaces that you could still see my actual nail on the sides. (Now that I looked at the picture you can't really tell but I'm person you can) I asked my mom about it and she told me to go back and get it re done. So I did. I went back maybe 2 days later (manly because of my work schedule) and I told them "can I please get this redone, there's so many spaces I can see my natural nail too much". Like I've said I've came here many times and my nails never came out looking like this. The owner wanted to argue with me and even asked another customer if she could see it and she agreed with me. The owner made me feel so stupid for having to come back in on something they messed up on. I don't do well with confrontation, so for him to get all pissed off and basically yell at me didn't go well at all. He did redo them but was pissed off the entire time doing it. I knew the entire time he was talking about me even thought he speaks a different language. Safe to say they lost a loyal customer, I will never be coming back again. We had the sweetest ladies and both enjoyed it very much. The caring woman who did my nails helped me pick the picture color based off a picture I found. Yesterday I was in a hurry to find a place close to home for a early birthday pedicure. I decided on Happy Nails because of the other Yelp reviews and how many stars, plus it's close to home. We know how cold it's been here the last few days; but when I walked into that salon, hoping for a nice & relaxing pedicure I was blasted with more cold air. Once I sat down in the pedicure chair and realized the employees were wearing their jacks & scarves, I said 'Wow, it's really cold in here.' She said they turned the heat up but I honestly think the heat wasn't working; it wasn't enjoyable. Only reason for four stars is because my pedicure was awesome. I just moved into the area so I was looking for new nail salon. This seems good so that's where I went. The lady (vanah I believe - sorry if I spelled it wrong) was nice and friendly. Did the job fairly close to what I asked which was ombre nails. Not even a week later 1 of my nails came off, just peeled like it wasn't holding onto nothing. Had a full set of ombré pink (sparkle) and white nails and a pedicure. Over all the salon is clean. It was super easy to walk in and get services. Price was really good and they take cards. The pedicure was just okay. He left my heel bumpy and the massage was light and way too long. He trimmed my nails and cuticles well. The nail set is gorgeous. I went in on a Saturday afternoon. I waited a good 45 minutes to get a full set. Even though there were many employees just standing around. It was my dads death anniversary plus a breakup. It was a rough day and I just wanted to feel pretty. The young guy started my set by gluing on the tips. There's clumps of glue under my nails. Then, the older man took over. He grabbed my hand, showed the lady next to him, made a comment in another language and then they laughed at me. I was now starting to get uncomfortable. He began filing after putting the acrylic on. He asked me if I liked the shape and I pointed out the large lump on my pinky. So he starts filing it shorter. I reiterate there's a bubble on top not in in front. After a back and forth conversation about how the bubble is on top, he started yelling at me that I know everything and then threatened to cut off my hands. Literally told me to hand him my hands so he can cut them off. My son was with me. I started crying and told him I just wanted to feel better today and I don't understand what he's so upset about. This man was literally screaming at me. I never raised my voice, got an attitude or anything to justify his response. I then called a friend to come up and be a witness. A woman then took over, tried comforting me in my tears and then finished my set. When I went to pay, I told them that I video taped that incident and that these days you need to be more cautious how you treat your clientele. They then told me not to come back. I was fine with that. Truthfully, I run a very large social media account. It would be pretty easy for me to just post the video and ruin the business but I chose not to. We all have bad days and I'm assuming that was his. I will just never return and leave my reviews. There's still a bubble on my nail and they're grossly thick. Not to mention the glue all underneath. Poor service, poor product, poor skill. Again, this man asked me to hand him my hands so he could cut them off. read more

Went on a Saturday evening at 5:00pm. No wait. Was greeted on entering. Paid $45 for full set with gel. Amy did a great job, she and everyone in the shop were friendly. I showed the owner and my nail tech a picture and it was completed pretty close to the picture. Rounded natural. I will be back in 2-3 weeks for fill in. Watched another older lady do nails with rhinestones and vivid different colors. It was really nice. Also young male did a white tip French acrylic and they were nice. I highly recommend, all the techs. Just went again for fill in. One of the male nail techs did my fill in. It was expensive, more than expected for a fill in $35 plus tip. I will say he was a little more detailed and they are no longer thick very natural. The other color was a bit better but that was my fault because I couldn't remember the number. read more

Let me just say that the experience I'm about to share completely blindsided me I have been going to this nail salon with my daughter who also gets acrylics and pedicures and everything done here for about two years now and this is the first time I have ever experienced an issue with them but it's such a crazy experience that although I would never normally leave a bad review I felt the need to because the way that they treated me today and especially the way that they treated me in front of their other clients was insane . I have never had an issue with them like I stated before, I've always been respectful to them they've been respectful to me although I do feel like they are over priced and I do try to watch my budget when I'm there because obviously nails can get expensive and when they are already charging on the higher end for their services I do have to ask them every time to break it down for me what exactly I am paying for when I'm walking in with my daughter however today it was a different experience I walked in on my own to get a fill. I got a basic gel fill with just the color black the husband who is one of the owners did the fill and then he had his wife do the polish I was in and out in about 40min if that. When it came time to pay the wife told me that my fill was $47 And she asked me if I was paying with card or cash and I told her card so she said I had to pay an extra three dollar fee for that so I said that's fine And then she asked me in front of everybody how much I wanted to leave for the tip which I understand she hast to type it in so I understand that so I told her $4 for the tip and as soon as I said that she got a little upset and was telling me that that's not even 15% and like I told her I'm already paying the credit card processing fee plus it's just a little expensive to begin with I told her I wasn't even there long so I was like I don't even feel like I should have to justify what my tip amount is I told her I come in here whatever price you charge me I pay without question so I don't understand why I was being attacked about the amount that I was leaving for tip which is completely optional you do not by law I have to leave a tip to anybody when you go anywhere and then her husband chimed in that because he knows I'm a hairstylist he said well you should know how it is when people tip you has anyone ever left you only four dollars? And I said OK will leav five dollars that's fine and they continue to harass me about it she then said well it should be atleast $7 and she actually began to type in seven dollars and I had to tell her to stop I said I did not tell you seven dollars I said five dollars tip was fine but do not start typing in whatever you want to put in. The husband and wife then begin to tell me that they felt insulted for their services and that if I basically can't afford to be there why am I there and like I told them since they wanted to bring up the fact that I'm a hairstylist I can say that yes I own my hair studio and I have all walks of life coming into my studio at all times and not everyone tips and some of my best clients who respect me respect my time respect my work and never question my prices are the ones sometimes that don't leave a tip and I told them you set your prices to what you want to get paid a tip is optional so for someone to leave a tip at all you should be thankful and they told me again that they were insulted and I said well if you feel insulted by the fact that my tip wasn't as high as you would have liked it to be then I don't have to come back and they began to yell to me as I was walking out the door that I am not allowed back there ever again . I don't care how great they think their work is you don't treat clients like that you actually don't treat anyone like that even if it's a client you don't like you need to be respectful to people and the fact that they don't have any filter and do not care who's around on top of that shows a lot about them and their business. read more

I've gone to happy nails two times now and both times I've been highly satisfied. It's very clean, and the nail techs seem to care about their work. Unlike other places, even if they're running behind they don't rush your manicures or pedicures. They really take the extra step to be sure that their work is of high quality. I've got shellac manicures both times I went and they lasted a long time. Today I got designs on my nails for a vacation, and they came out amazing, especially because the girl painted them by hand. Decided to try happy nails to save myself a commute to my normal nail salon in Grosse Pointe Woods... well I regret that decision. First my pedicure starts with a broken chair and having to sit almost bent over because my chair was stuck in a super upright position... let's go to the nail sipping process..... DO NOT EXPECT A MANICURE WITH A DIP!! You pay $40 for a dip and they will charge extra to trim your cuticles and manicure your nails. I expressed my unhappiness and they lectured me and told me it's me and not them. I wasn't happy and expressed it. Asked what needed to be finished and they kept being rude. I paid and left. I will always make the hour drive and pay more to know I'm getting a great dip MANICURE and pendicure!! So this is my 3rd time visiting this salon. I have been happy with my nails each time, but this time, I'M SO HAPPY, I just had to yelp about my visit. I went in around 6pm...they were packed. I'm typically an early morning type of girl, but I wouldn't have had time to go early this weekend, as I have a lot of plans. Anyway, I went in, and despite them being SUPER busy, I was greeted quickly and very politely. I needed a full set...and my old set removed. I waited about 20 minutes total. Normally, I would have been annoyed and left, but a really nice guy, told me to sit in a pedi chair, just to relax. That was well needed after a long day at work and very nice of him. When it was my turn, I was 'that' girl....(flips to screenshot from pinterest) "I want this!!!"...the tech, Johnny, just smiled and went to work. He made magic happen. He took his time and gave me exactly what I wanted. He was gentle, funny and very thorough. He nipped and oiled my cuticles without me even asking. Do Not Recommend. I went in on Saturday to get a Shellac manicure. By Monday morning 4 of my nails had chipped off polish and another nail peeling up. I went back Monday evening for a fix and waited an hour. Yes they are friendly however the craftmanship is not to be desired. I will not be back. read more

I would not recommend this nail place based on their customer service.. I called in advance to ask if they took walk ins and if so, how long the wait would be. With this being my first time here and me being unfamiliar with the area, I was looking at places to go based on yelp reviews. On the phone, I was told to come right in and there would be no wait. I stated that I would be arrive in 5 mins or less and they said they would see me then. As soon as I walked in the door, they asked what I was there for and I told them I just spoke with someone on the phone that said I could walk right in and she said "um no, it's a two hour wait or come back tomorrow".
