My 2-star rating comes with a condition.... I realize that this location is brand spanking new and still had some kinks to work out. New staff, new process, new everything. So with that in mind, I will give this place another try.
I stopped in this morning to pick up a salad for lunch later. I have been wanting to try the place since they opened and today seemed like opportunity at its best.
I popped in and wanted to try something along the lines of a cobb salad. The "Scrambled" or the "Sunnyside" salad was a close fit, so I opted for the scrambled. The only difference between the two salads, by the way, is the egg and your own selection of "trimmings". I was greeted by a nice young lady (only her second day on the job) who was pleasant enough and I noticed that most everyone had smiles on their face. At 8 am, this is a major selling point to me. I am big on customer service, and smiles rank right up there with sliced bread and the bible, lol.
The young lady helped me with my salad (with an assist from another, more seasoned employee). So far, so good.
Admittedly I was a little concerned of the price of the salad, plus a cup of meat will cost $3 extra (Tofu will be $2), putting my salad at $9. The salad was assembled, all that we were waiting on now was a sunnyside up egg. A sunnyside up easy egg. I waited 6 minutes for this egg, which was perplexing I gotta say. It's not like there were people in front of me (previous customers already got their food and was seated as I first walked in the door).
I also noticed how clean the place looked, and how well placed the juices were and everything in a good order (Paradise for someone with OCD! lol). Very clean, kudos to the crew for that!
6 minutes for a egg, sunnyside up easy. It takes me, at home, two minutes, if that, to fix such an egg. But alas, it happened and that one thing put a huge dent in an otherwise nice experience.
On my next visit, I am confident that I will not try anything egg related, as it seems a little taxing on the cook, especially if I am short on time like I was this morning.
I am looking forward to enjoying my fresh, crisp salad today for lunch and will try to forget the 6 minute minute egg, and instead focus on the salad, the pleasant customer service and the cleanliness of the place as a whole.
UPDATE: I arrived at my office and I looked at my salad and did not realize that they cooked the whole salad. GROSS. I thought it was going to be a fresh, crisp bed of green lettuce and veggies, with a fried egg on top of the salad. But instead, the whole salad is cooked. No wonder it took 5 minutes for my minute egg, they were cooking everything! Totally unappetizing, the salad unfortunately went into the trash. Nowhere on the menu did it mention that my salad was going to be cooked!!!!!!!
I will give this place one more try, but I swear if they serve me cooked/wilted salad again, I will never be back to this place much less tell anyone to not bother unless they like cooked green salad. read more
