In this visit, the Tajima Wagyu is on special (frozen) so I decided to give it a try and also get a piece of Hida tenderloin (fresh- not frozen). The meat are packaged in a vacuum sealed bag. I recommend to check out this place if u like Wagyu particularly, and the price is reasonable too. It's expensive but high quality so it's worth it. We took it to a friend's house that night and it was exquisite! My friends who said that they normally don't like cake now have a new addiction. The cake had the perfect texture to it to hold up all that amazing fresh cream, lemon curd and blueberries and it was also a perfect balance of sweetness. I've been there on multiple occasions while living in Markham usually interacting with the staff in bakery and the cashiers and everyone I have encountered has been lovely. The parking lot isn't massive but it is enough to host all of their shoppers as I've never had an issue with finding parking there.

There were even KFC chicken flavoured Lays chips during my visit! My favourite was the Kinder Bueno ice cream cone (yes they also sell ice cream!). I will definitely visit again as they constantly import new snacks. There is plenty of parking in the plaza. The only downside I can think of is that the prices are a little bit on the high end but overall it's a great place to find some exotic snacks!

I looked at what items were available. It offers exotic snacks and beverages, from Pokemon and Snapple drinks, to KitKat and Lay's chips from around the world. This store had items that were up my alley that I decided to schedule an order for pickup after work on Wednesday. On the Uber Eats app, I ordered the following: - Strawberry kiwi Snapple - Pomegranate raspberry Snapple - Oreo white Milka - Strawberry Fanta - Mocha chocolate KitKat duos - Lemon KitKat (buy one and get another for free) - Hazelnut cream chunky KitKat bar Prices are reasonable for many hard-to-find imported goods. I was pleased and scheduled my pickup for 5:15 pm. This store is where Sneb Cafe used to be. The sign is still up and I assume that its removal is being worked on. Snack Town is next to Mr Chimaek and across from Pizza Pizza. There is only one way to get in and out of this plaza. Access is along Lee Avenue, close to Kennedy Road. I had no problem finding a parking spot. I backed into one in front of the store. You need to ring the doorbell to enter the store. A man opened the door and was friendly. I said my name and rattled off my order number. I had two bags of goodies. One contained my cold drinks. The other had my chocolate. I asked whether I could browse because I was in a candy trance at this stage. He was perfectly fine having tourist me take a look. I was in sugar heaven! I love Tic Tac candies. The Coca-Cola ones were available for a limited time. I had them a few years back and loved them. I need more! You get the world tour with Fanta. The lemon variety is from Denmark. Green apple hails from China. Shokata (elderberry and lemon) is from Denmark and is on my list to try next. I got the strawberry because I am a strawberry freak and I've never had the Fanta version of it. They do have Lay's and ramen flavours that you can likely get at a local Asian supermarket. I was temped to try the Nongshim lobster ramen, but I will see whether I can find it at a supermarket and compare that price to what this store is offering. I do like that when you are indeed craving Pocky, you can get your fix here. I love Pocky. And, yes, I enjoy the strawberry (trend?). There is also a decent selection of cereal flavours. It has Elf on the Shelf and Rice Krispies holiday cereal. I was impressed. I have devoured the lemon and mocha chocolate KitKat bars. Delicious! I put them in an insulated bag with my drinks when I picked up my order and they didn't melt in 29°C weather as I ran some errandds. I am having the Oreo white Milka next. It's apparently a rare bar to find. I haven't seen Milka since I was in Denmark and Sweden, so I had to get it. I let the nice man know that I thoroughly enjoyed browsing around his store. He was thankful. I appreciated the handwritten note that I got with my order. It was a nice touch! It's so dangerous having sugar heaven so close to home. Today however I decided that nothing would stop me I needed to learn if the rumour about Japanese wagu was true. The concept is that in the west we raise meat butcher it and sell it as is. In Japan they decided to selectively breed the meat to incorporate a more streamlined fatty deposit that not only brings flavour but tenderness. I knew I was going to pay a pretty penny. I opted out of the tenderloin and decided on a thin strip of sirloin steak as shown in the picture. At $56 it's the single most expensive piece of meat I've ever purchased. Make no mistake about it I knew I was getting f*cked but but I somehow didn't mind it when I paid. I didn't know if the owner was a man or woman so I'm not sure where the bulk of my money was going, whether it was to the store of Japan. Either way I was definitely fin-domed for those who know the crude terminally. The only question is: was it worth it? Well people say you should panfry for best flavour but I microwave over a Japanese curry csauce I got. I apologize if I dishonored you all through my cooking method. Anyhow the meat ended up being more tender and there was a more flavourful fatty profile but I did not but it didn't really melt in my mouth as reviews say (again microwave sorry). I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5. I feel like any decent marbled fatty steak or ribeye could come close but the Wagu was special indeed, so Famu gets 5 stars

We have tried a few places in and around Markham that sell Wagyu, but non of them blew us away. I decided to do a random search for Japanese Butchers and Wagyu and came across FãMu Inc. which is listed as "The only Japanese Butcher in Ontario". FãMu is the Japanese pronunciation of farm. They are all about animals that are pasture or free-run, raised without chemicals, antibiotics, hormones or animal bi-products. Located in J Town, an indoor/outdoor mall of Japanese businesses located On Steeles Avenue E near Woodbine in Markham. (LOVED the shops at J Town!!). We have had several great experiences with this shop since our first visit 9 months ago. Everyone in shop is very helpful and knowledgeable about all of the cuts they sell. Our first try of FãMu we purchased the A5 Wagyu Miyazaki Striploin. BBQ'd on the grill for 2 min on each side (as per the butchers recommendation), the cuts were bbq'd to perfection and just melted in our mouths. I have never eaten a steak anywhere that was so perfectly marbled and so tender. I would say it was easily one of the best steaks I have ever had! The next would be the Australian Wagyu Ribeye we picked up (15oz cuts). A little on the pricey side, but WOW, you get what you pay for and no better way to indulge in a perfect steak bbq. Some of the cuts of Japanese Wagyu they sell are: Kobe - A5 Kuromame Nagi - A5 Furano - A5 Miyazaki (Miyazakigyu)- A5 Hokkaido (Tokachi) - A5 Various Regions Of Japan - A4 Plus ~ Australian Wagyu, US Wagyu, Chicken, Berkshire Pork, Wagyu burgers and Wagyu slices for Sukiyaki Hot Pots and more! During 2 of our recent visits we also tried their Double Wagyu Beef Bowl. Thinly sliced pieces of Wagyu seasoned with in store made terriyaki/soy sauce over a bed of steamed rice. Small portion for the cost, but filling and THE most tender beef bowl you will ever try! Not sure about which cut to try, visit their website and you can get detailed info on each cut, you can also stop in and ask or order online. Unlike their Korean barbeque sets, lunch takes longer to arrive as the kettle pot rice is made to order. It's worth the wait to allow the purple rice to develop a bit of crust on the bottom and to allow the beans, chestnut, pumpkin, jujube and chickpeas to soften and seep into the rice. Given how long it takes for make the starch, I'm surprised the pork bone soup ($21.99) doesn't arrive bubbling... this stone bowl is for show only. It also lacks flavour and needed to be stewed longer as the bones were difficult to tear and grizzly to eat. As kamjatang go, this is mediocre at best. The spicy soft tofu stew ($21.99) was better, even the "medium" spicy level came out flavourful without being overpowering. And while it wasn't bubbling, this was hotter and more comforting feeling. It's just a bit stingy on the protein with few slices of beef but adequate amounts of tofu and vegetables. Each arrives with an array of banchan including crispy kimchi cucumber, vegetable laced japchae, a flavourful stewed eggplant, a hefty portion of rolled egg omelette, a scoop of overly sweet potato salad, savoury gelatin, and a slightly sweet creamy lotus root. Two lunch specials can be shared amongst three people, otherwise expect to leave with leftovers. Given Daldongnae wasn't busy during their weekday lunch, their service was spectacular. Still, if you go for lunch, I'd stick with their wheelhouse and order table BBQ as the stone bowl mains were not impressive. If Daldongnae wants to pump up their weekday lunch service, I'd recommend they switch to something they can execute better. Perhaps something like Haidailao where they offer table BBQ but instead of having diners ordering proteins separately, they create a mixed platter priced per person (with still a minimum of two people required).
