When we would arrive, my dog would burst through the door as if she owned the place. I don't know what it was, it could have been the staff, but she loved going there! An amazing grooming service! The location is small & tucked into a corner of a shopping center but their services are always exactly what we ask for. We have a Husky/Aussie mix that has a thick, yet longer coat. She isn't very good in public places because she's young & hyper. They did a great job on my dog. However, I scheduled an appointment weeks in advance which was no problem. Then they wanted to reschedule our appointment the closer to our appointment date. I figured this was to benefit us because the original date was heavily booked. My dog's appointment started at 10am and they didn't finish our dog til 6pm! It was very apparent that they catered to their regular customers before their new customers as I saw how the owner interacted with other pet owners. My dog is considered small and is groomed on a regular. I found it RIDICULOUS to take more than 7 hours to complete a grooming appointment for a smaller breed. 7 hours in a crate and not fed is too long for any owner's pet. The individual grooming my dog seemed to understand our frustration but the owner could care less about our dog. I heard so many great things about this place and had set expectations. Unfortunately, it was a nightmare and I felt that they were biased towards new customers. I definitely won't be going back. read more

My baby had his teeth cleaned without anesthesia and at a fraction of the cost! Most vets put the pups under in order to clean but this place disnt do that. I paid $110 (vs 800 at a vets office) for his cleaning. The hygienist provided a diagnostic report and suggested cleaning techniques to maintain healthy teeth and gums. I'm so glad I found this place! The place is packed with dogs but doesn't smell of them. They have two kitty cats that greet you at the door. Very bad experience!!! Requested a trim for my Yorkie and JC didn't relay the information to the groomer properly. When I came to pick up my dog he had a Schnauzer style cut(very unflattering for the breed) and JC(the owner) put all the blame on the groomer which I don't believe was right. My dog was traumatized so much so that my husband was not sure it was our dog. Now I have a groomer come to our home and she is wonderful! read more

I have always been happy with my dog's haircut, my only complaint is that you never know when they're going to call you when he's done! It could be 4 hours or 7! When my dog comes home he has to go to the bathroom right away and he's so thirsty that he drinks a whole bowl of water! Also, the prices seem to go up every 6 months! Used to be about $40 last year now almost $50. I'm giving a good review because they do a great job but I only wish they didn't take so long and charge so much! I've been trying out the mobile groomer and it's just easier for me and about the same price. read more

We take our big lab, and she likes it. They have several loose dogs - all friendly, so don't let it throw you. Even if they are busy, they always squeeze us in. Happy dog admitted they do ear plucking.We took our dog to happy dog in Camarillo. We had taken him in for a grooming. He developed a severe ear infection right away. We had to take him in to an emergency veterinary hospital. Happy dog admitted they do ear plucking. That may be a practice groomers do but I believe they plucked too much hair at one time and ripped the inside of his ear because when I looked in his ear it was bloody. I just took my dog here for grooming for the first time. The staff were wonderful and Shelby took great care with my dog. I showed her exactly what I wanted and she delivered flawlessly! My dog is a yorkie so I know how difficult it can be to groom them. I wouldn't even call it grooming for a dog it's equivalent to an extensive hairstyle appointment bc lets be honest yorkies need to have the right cut regardless if you're going for the standard yorkie look or something else. I prefer my little one to have a shorter body and longer face and head and that's exactly what i got! Their prices are comparable to other groomers in the area and I couldn't be happier. The place was busy but that just goes to show how good they are. I dropped my little one off at 9am and she was done by 130. I will definitely be bringing her back here for grooming! read more

My grandparents loved this place. Every month there dog was groomed here. They offered to pay to get my dog groomed but I had to go here. My dog loved being groomed ( at a different place ) all it took was once at happy dog and my dog hated to be groomed I had to take her in like a piece of luggage because she didn't want to go in. So we had to take her else where. I know other people that had the same experience. Another thing you make an appointment and drop your animal off in the morning and don't pick them up until that night. Meanwhile when they are not being groomed they are in cages. It is better to explain my rating just by giving my personal experience with this place: I had been going here for years; however, whenever we would call or come in, no one remembered us, not even the manager. And we came in regularly. And I get that they are very busy and they can't remember everybody. But after years? Also, what really always bothered me about this place was their attitudes. No one-- and I mean not one person-- was ever polite or nice to us when we came in or when we called. They were always very unfriendly and snobby, which I always thought was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. Besides the attitude problem, here are the facts: they never washed my dog very well. Most of the time, he would come back looking slightly better than if I had done it myself. The only reason we kept coming back was that we couldn't find a better place within the city. But he was never done that well. Whenever he had to get a trim, he never looked cute. Sometimes, it seemed like it was okay and whoever did it appeared to somewhat know what they were doing, but most of the time I was really disappointed with what I had paid for. They also always complained about my dog, saying they had to muzzle him and that he didn't like being bathed or brushed.....to which I was always like weelllll duh. Most dogs don't like being caged literally ALL day and bathed by strangers when they're dying of thirst and have to pee like crazy because no one's taken them out in hours. I mean, with every other reason put aside, I just consider it really unprofessional to complain in front of customers; maybe that's just me. NEWSFLASH FOR ANYONE LOOKING FOR A GOOD DOG GROOMER IN CAMARILLO: Bark, Bath, and Beyond is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Mysteriously enough, I started going to Bark, Bath, and Beyond after an especially annoying and disappointing trip to Happy Dog (which was the last time I ever went) and the owners at Bark, Bath, and Beyond were incredible and told me my dog was great. Best customer service ever and they said my dog was amazing and did really well with the other dogs there AND was well-behaved during his bath and brush. Imagine that haha I will NEVER go back to Happy Dog after discovering this place. TRY BARK, BATH, AND BEYOND! Superior service, wayyyyy better grooming skills, and an open play-pen for your dog instead of a dog-pound cage. read more

I Love Happy dog. It has been only 19 months since I adopted my dog from a shelter. I did not know how I supposed to take care of my dog's hair but I knew he needed to be groomed because he had matted hair and super dirty living in the shelter for a while. So the very next day after adoption, my friend recommended me to take him to Happy dog so I took my dog there the first time as walk in customer. They said they are booked and told me that my dog needs to go real short because of matted hair.They told me to try Diane's grooming near by if I needed grooming that day. so I did and I was not happy with the result. I realize it now of course they are super busy and booked for almost 3 months ahead all the time. I made an appointment for the next time, and OMG! I could not believe how well they groomed my dog and how cute he looked. Ever since, I ALWAYS take my dog there. Not only their grooming skill is off the hook, the owner taught me how I supposed to comb dog's hair, and was very helpful with choosing dog's treats and food. And when my appointment was happened to be around the holiday, they always gave me A BAG FULL of sample treats and dog hair supplies. And a cute ribbon or bandanna on him on top of it. Incredible service. I saw some reviews that complained that they kept their dog long time but people has to understand that they do this amazing work for living everyday and their scheduled inventories has to be arrived in the morning so that they can assure they will be completing all the appointments set for the day. If no show, they know they can call other people that are on the waiting list as cancellation occurs.... I think. I highly recommend Happy dog to everyone!! read more

We brought our dog there because we kept hearing how fantastic they were. It took me months to get an appointment so I had high hopes. I went in there and they were crazy busy. They grabbed our dog without meeting him and while leading him to a cage they walked him right past an uncaged dog he didnt know who could have attacked him (or he could have attacked the other dog). When we picked him up his hair cut was choppy and he was not even washed correctly. He was still dirty in places. I gave them 2 stars because I figured perhaps we came on a bad day or something but seriously it was a one star job. Very disappointing! read more
