3 Choices of Meat on Rice
    Johnny Y.

I'm getting mix vibes from here. The menu does deceive you a little bit as there are a lot of authentic asian selections. We ordered the 3 choices of meats over rice. Now I get majority of selection are usually mix ratio of dark/white meats but 3 for 3 !? The roast pork, bbq pork and the chicken with scallion was overly lean. Everything was border line dry. The bbq pork has this neon food dye that screams fast food style. I'm sorry but this was a fail imo. If you like that jerky like texture. This would be your choice. The duck noods with flat noodles was substituted for lai fun. I'm not a pro in any of this but i could've sworn lai fun is the noodles that looks like mini silk worm like.... this sadly wasn't what I expected. The broth was on the lighter side. Nothing to write home about. The duck was okay. I was skeptical on the last choice for a claypot rice for takeout. Usually they don't give you the crispy rice parts and it just taste like steamed rice with whatever topping you choose. Surprisingly, it had that smokey like taste to it and the burnt like soy sauce which was a plus! Wished I had an egg added on as an option but didn't see it. The shu-mai ... well it was shu-mai! Was it the best? it was okay. Overall, it is cheap eats compare to what is outside. Hopefully we get better cuts if we decide to choose this place again.

3.5 stars Better than last time..Still haven't found a good dim sum place since most restaurants aren't very clean.....and this place still has plenty of issues but I guess we can ignore it for now and concentrate on the the food only. The beef rice roll is like typical dim sum type rolls where the skin is thicker. It's not bad. Not as much cilantro as other places. The fried dumpling is also thick skinned. It's better than fast food Chinese places but I ordered this by accident. The bamboo roll is basically the best item here. One dish was a lil overcooked but it still tasted okay. Our favorite dish. Beef balls .. again not a lot of cilantro flavor. Very meaty but not too flavorful. Soy sauce chicken.. roast pork over rice with cabbage. Chicken wasn't salty, roast pork looks again like less chemicals used.. maybe? Not the best congee but I got it for free on UE. I like that they don't use too much salt like other places. Everything was a lil bland compared to most dim sum restaurants which might be a bad thing to most people but we don't mind at all. L liked most of the dim sum. More homey tasting than other restaurants which again not necessarily a bad thing. I still wanna try more dishes..

Happy Corner 13 is a low-key and cozy restaurant serving Canton cuisine, such as dim sum, rice dishes, noodle soups, and roasted meats. I've been seeing more Canton restaurants around the Bayside, Fresh meadows, and Oakland gardens area these past few years and I'm appreciating not having to go all the way to downtown flushing to satisfy my Canton cravings. We've dined here on two occasions on the weekends around lunchtime. The first time we strictly ordered dim sum from the dim sum counter. They have a large variety of dim sum freshly steamed and available to be ordered. On both occasions, we were the first diners to choose to dine in while most customers just grab for takeout. We ordered the shumai, chicken feet, spare ribs, and shrimp rice roll. Everything tasted good, just what I would have expected for dim sum though the prices are a bit higher. I think the high costs are justified for not having to wait on long lines for tables at traditional dim sum and having the capability for made to order dim sum. On our second trip, we ordered the classic pork and century egg congee and a three choice meat over rice with roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, and roast pork. Both dishes came out quickly and looked like a lot of food. The congee was much bigger than we anticipated for breakfast, but the taste was a bit underwhelming. The pork was dry and the century egg was bland. I'm planning on trying another one of their congee, which will hopefully be better. As for the roasted meat dish, we thought this would be much better as it was a popular dish there. Our favorite was the duck but all the pieces didn't have too much meat on them and were subpar to other places. While we wanted to like this place, some dishes just didn't hit the mark. We still want to support this local business and will be back to try other items on the menu.

My go-to for steamed rice noodles for my husband. He loves their dry baby shrimp rice noodles because Happy Corner 13 puts some sort of diced up vegetable inside with the dry baby shrimps. Service is pretty quick but it's always better to call ahead for a pick up order.

This place always hits when I need to dim sum fix (or need to curry favor with my in-laws & parents). Every time I've come in here, I'm always getting service with a smile. While there is limited seating here, This place is mainly pick up for quality Hong Kong style dim sum and quick meals, such as noodle soups and rice dishes. They also have roast meats, such as duck, char siu, and soy sauce chicken hanging in the window. If you have and are looking for an authentic Cantonese meal, try one of their Clay Pot rice dishes, such as preserved meat. Almost as good as grandma's! I've never had a bad meal here. Their dim sum prices are less than what you'd pay for at a traditional restaurant with the rolling cart aunties, but the taste is just as good. However, it will be a bit more than something you'd get at a bakery. A plate of shrimp rice rolls (ha cheung fun) will set you back at least $6. A plate of shumai is roughly about $5. They don't have delivery that I know of, but they participate in delivery services (Fantuan, Uber). Do yourself a favor ... go there in person to see what fresh selections they have and pick it up, the cafe's prices are way less. Only drawback is that this place is TIGHT. There is limited seating, really only a few tables accommodating 2- 3 people, with one table in the back that can accommodate 4 people. While I'm sure they can accommodate, this is not an ideal place for groups or folks with strollers or wheelchairs, so plan accordingly. Since there is limited seating, and it's mostly a pickup and take out place, parking is hit or miss, but doable. You're either scoring a parking spot on the side of the Horace Harding Expwy, or you're circling around the side streets.

Came to satisfy our rice noodle roll craving without running to Flushing. This is mainly a take out place with 4 or 5 small tables in a narrow walkway to dine in. Dim sum tastes better right away, but everything was delicious take home never the less. The beef tripe was cooked fresh just for me, and worth the wait. Well cooked in a brown sauce w pieces of chayote or Buddha hand squash 4/5. Soy sauce chicken was good 3-4/5. Soy sauce chicken pork congee is a great comfort food for a rainy day3-4/5. Too full to rate the bean curd roll and the sticky rice with lotus leaf. The Choy Sum in oyster sauce is good. Located north of the LIE and nearby street parking available. Although prices are higher than what's pictured, still affordable and more than what you'd get from a regular restaurant.

My youngest was hangry (that's his term!) and happenned to notice this small restaurant. Thank goodness because we still have am gour before an event! I needed something to fill him just a bit but not too much so he can still enjoy our dinner. I ordered the leek & shrimp fried dumpling (4pcs for $6.50) and it was a surprise hit! I thought it was expensive but for the price and the size, it was actually decent. The dumplings were tasty and addictive! Will definitely come back for more!

I've been meaning to check this place out and it did not disappoint. I was really craving some dim sum, Canto style childhood eats. Ordered a bunch of things to try for take out, got a free beef rice roll dish for ordering 3 other rice rolls. The rice rolls were very fat and the shrimp were plump. My so devoured the congee (they did forget the you tiao but I can over look that). Sticky rice was one of the best I have ever had, the sweet savory dumpling hit the spot and the husband loved it. Overall I am so happy this is super close by and we won't have to go elsewhere. It's pretty affordable. We spent under $40 and it fed our family of 4 and leftovers. The lady when I ordered understood my poor Cantonese. I can't wait to return to try other dishes.

3.5 stars for service and overall cleanliness of the place. The space is meant to be a quick-fire dining experience given the narrow layout and a few tables. No groups larger than four. I swung by to try out the Dim Sum and BBQ meats - any chance to avoid driving to Flushing, works for me. There was Street parking available but know there's no parking lot. Just round the bend from Bell Blvd., directly on the side of the Horace Harding Expressway. Dim Sum is available all day until they sell out. Some items are cooked to order while some are ready on the steaming table. The female manager was very friendly as well as the waitress. However, the waitress speaks no English. Cantonese and Mandarin speakers will be fine. Onto the food: - Chicken Feet was tender and decent but I would have preferred more sauce - Spare ribs with black beans were really tender and achieved the right texture. The pieces I got were quite boney and little meat. - The bean curd roll (doesn't contain shrimp, good for me) and was quite filling. Lots of ingredients and it was good. - Beef rice roll was flavorful but the rice roll was too soggy. It broke up and was too loose when it was picked up. - Steamed salted egg yolk buns were liquid gold on the inside. I really enjoyed the bun and the filling. It was just oozing out. Didn't expect it that runny but the flavor was on point. - Beef tripe and turnip, skip. The tripe was cooked properly but lacked the richness of the broth it's served in. Too watered down and the tripe could've used one more rinse so to speak. It was too muddled. Turnip pieces were huge! - Soy Bean milk and milk tea were very good. Runs about $2-$2.50/ea cup (large). You can control the sweetness by letting your server know when you order. - Roast Duck was very good. Great sauce and the skin was perfect. Good color and flavors all around. I only bought half this visit and they are a bit pricey but it's the sign of the times. I bought a bunch of dim sum to go since there were so many others I wanted to try but was too stuffed. My family will likely enjoy it tomorrow. I wouldn't mind returning to see if they improve over time since they are very new. And while the place is meant for take out, it's nice that they have a few seats. Cash only from what I can tell even though there was no signage.

    Watercress Dumpling Noodle Soup

Ended up here out of convenience for a quick meal. A typical Chinese restaurant serving Barbecue Meats, Dim-sum and Hong Kong style food. Average looking small and simple restaurant with some seating but more suited for a take out style Chinese style vibes. Don't expect a full treatment with fruits and dessert at the end. Ordered the Watercress and Pork Dumpling Noodle soup and the Barbecue Roast Port "Char Siu" over rice to go, the food was reasonably priced but it took quite a bit even though I was the only one ordering food. The noodle soup and dumplings was for my coworker and he had no complaints, I had the rice and the portion was a bit small not at all like the portions from other locations. What was more surprising to me was that after cutting it up they microwaved it... Mainly a convenient place when you need a meal, but it wouldn't be at the top of my list when I am thinking about Hong Kong Style food nor a quick meal. I would still keep it in mind though.

Wow!!! JACKPOT!!! Dim Sum in Bayside right off the LIE! Awesome, and I mean authentically awesome Dim Sum! Love this place. Small take out like place. Super clean and nice people. I'll be going here often and so live in Commack LI. Update: came back with my wife. We have the clay pot, Cantonese dumpling noodle soup with slices roast pork, and Lo Bok go (turnip cake). FANTASTIC!!!! I will no longer stress going to flushing/kissena or Main Street.
