The hubs and I have come here a couple times now and have always had a good experience. I love honeycomb and we thoroughly enjoyed our hokey pokey ice cream experience in New Zealand. It was so nice to discover we could still get the hokey pokey flavor here in Colorado. The most recent trip was to support planned parenthood with their "not ovary reacting" flavor. They were sold out which is wonderful and we were able to donate to PP through Happy Cones Instagram page. I got a scoop of the chocolate Oreo oat milk topped with honeycomb dust. We came here after our dinner to grab something sweet. I love the mural on the wall! The line was long when we got there which was encouraging. Our friend who we were visiting said he had been before and that he liked it. We ordered a few different flavors to all try each others. I ordered the New Zealand style ice cream which was pretty good. I liked the creaminess of it. I wish there had been a little more fruit in it to make it extra flavorful but overall it was good. However, it does differ from competitors in that customers have the option to order Vegan Gelato or New Zealand style ice cream. I decided to try their signature New Zealand style ice cream. The cashier suggested mixed berry. As I watched her add vanilla ice cream and berries, the specialty machine quickly turned and produced a smooth blend of the mixture. The taste of it was unique. I've never had New Zealand style I've cream before but oh boy am I going to be having more of it going forward! I find it difficult to find ice cream places I like because they almost always make their ice cream too sweet for my taste. Not only is this ice cream much more reasonable on the sweetness scale, in my opinion, but it's also a mixture of ice cream and fruit! Super cool! I would highly recommend checking out the wall while you wait for your ice cream where the owner put up a bunch of pictures he took while traveling internationally. It's really neat! This was very much an impulse buy! I walked by, saw the ice cream food truck and thought ... well, heck, I'm tired of the same ol' stuff, so thought I'd give this place a go. To start off we got there at 8:50pm and the hours online say they are open until 10pm, but when we got there the open sign was turned off and the wooden board that had the hours written on it was taken off the window and I saw it on the counter. So we walk in and 3 girls working there didn't say hi or welcome us. It was super awkward and we said hi to them instead then with a a lot of attitude they helped us. We were soooo rushed and they completely left off all the special topping on a few of our orders. Then we asked about the ice cream salt they said it's on there and I said no there is no salt even though she charged us. The. One girl very rudely said there was too many orders so what if I might have forgot a couple of them......ummmmm what???? I'm sorry they we ordered 5 ice creams and there are 3 of you working. I thought business love to have business. I don't know who the owner is or even if one of those gals was an owner but I would be pissed if that was how my employee was treating paying customers. We were hesitant to ask for more things. Sucked to drive all that way and be treated like that. I definitely won't be recommending this place to anyone. My only hesitation in not giving five stars would be pricing for the two pints that I picked up. I was super excited to try Happy Cones Co, I love ice cream and this place has been on my list for a while. I got the mixed berry New Zealand style ice cream and while it looked fabulous, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. Although it was soft serve style, it wasn't very creamy and the fruit flavor was more muted than I expected. The fruit they used was frozen and you could definitely taste lots of frozen/icy chunks when eating the ice cream.
