The hubs and I have come here a couple times now and have always had a good experience. I love honeycomb and we thoroughly enjoyed our hokey pokey ice cream experience in New Zealand. It was so nice to discover we could still get the hokey pokey flavor here in Colorado. The most recent trip was to support planned parenthood with their "not ovary reacting" flavor. They were sold out which is wonderful and we were able to donate to PP through Happy Cones Instagram page. I got a scoop of the chocolate Oreo oat milk topped with honeycomb dust. I couldn't tell it was dairy free it was so good. Love this shop and love that they are willing to take a stand on important issues and support them. read more

Wow this was an experience. We got the banana caramel ice cream in a croissant and it was incredible. The New Zealand style ice cream is 100% the way to go to. You get little chunks of the fresh fruit in every bite. 10/10 will be back again soon read more

They have New Zealand style ice cream which I still an unsure what that really is BUT ALL I KNOW IS THAT IF IS DELICIOUS. They have so many options along with soft serve . The ice cream shop is situated in the Edgewater Public Market and has your typical choice for cold treats such as floats, smoothies, milkshakes, and ice cream. However, it does differ from competitors in that customers have the option to order Vegan Gelato or New Zealand style ice cream. I decided to try their signature New Zealand style ice cream. The cashier suggested mixed berry. As I watched her add vanilla ice cream and berries, the specialty machine quickly turned and produced a smooth blend of the mixture. The taste of it was unique. The sweetness was more from natural fruit and not so much from the ice cream. It was definitely different and a fun experience to try out. read more

I've never had New Zealand style I've cream before but oh boy am I going to be having more of it going forward! I find it difficult to find ice cream places I like because they almost always make their ice cream too sweet for my taste. Not only is this ice cream much more reasonable on the sweetness scale, in my opinion, but it's also a mixture of ice cream and fruit! Super cool! I would highly recommend checking out the wall while you wait for your ice cream where the owner put up a bunch of pictures he took while traveling internationally. It's really neat! We came here after our dinner to grab something sweet. I love the mural on the wall! The line was long when we got there which was encouraging. Our friend who we were visiting said he had been before and that he liked it. We ordered a few different flavors to all try each others. I ordered the New Zealand style ice cream which was pretty good. I liked the creaminess of it. I wish there had been a little more fruit in it to make it extra flavorful but overall it was good. I would come back here if we are in the area. Overall a good experience but wasn't amazing. read more

This time I got the vegan dark sea salt chocolate which was rich and tasty and the regular salted Oreo which was also flavorful. I got the double scoop- they charged me for 2 vegan scoops ($7) which wasn't cool, as 2 regular scoops was ($6). They Should have split the diff since I did not get two vegan scoops! I love this place, so much. I'm working to become an ice cream afficianado in 2022, some people's NY resolutions are to go to the gym more or eat better, I'm turning the other way. That being said, looking forward to a delicious 2022 and it starts with Happy Cones! Love this location in Edgewater Public Market, the vibe in the store is great and the staff is always super friendly. The New Zealand style ice cream is soft serve and they add fruit to it to flavor how you want, delicious! The traditional ice cream is always amazing, they usually have a couple unique (gingerbread, rocky road, etc.) seasonal flavors and then flavors that you know and love. They also always have Hokey Pokey, which is sweet cream with honeycomb chunks, also delicious! I got Strawberry Pineapple - the flavor was really mild (probably not enough fruit), but the texture was super thick and creamy, which I really liked. read more

We finished some awesome eats at Edgewater Public Market over the weekend, and what better way to really finish it than with dessert. Happy Cones Co is a New Zealand ice cream concept and it was delicious! They had three different flavors to offer for the fresh fruit. That day it was strawberry, strawberry & banana, and wild berry. I went with the strawberry and it was so refreshing! Plain ice cream goes down into a machine, followed my fresh fruit. It gets mashed up and comes out twirled for the perfect cone (or cup). If you're not into those flavors, they have traditional American style ice cream offerings as well. They had something to please everyone in the family! This was very much an impulse buy! I walked by, saw the ice cream food truck and thought ... well, heck, I'm tired of the same ol' stuff, so thought I'd give this place a go. After going back and forth on which one I wanted to try, while the gentleman patiently waited (thanks for that!), I decided on the vanilla honey comb on the sugar cone. He told me that flavor was one of the most popular in New Zealand. It wasn't overly sweet as I thought it would be, and was actually refreshing. It was nice to try something different from the norm. I'm not sure it was the best, but I wasn't disappointed. I'm eager to try the other flavors now! Stoped in and picked up 4 pints. Coffee chip(they call it chocolate crack) full of chocolate with a great coffee taste. Proper chocolate that blends perfectly with the coffee ice cream Heard the honey comb was popular so got 2. Glad I did. This is addicting and hard to stop eating. Mint chip equally as good with the right taste of Mint blended with a chocolate chip that the mint accentuates. The only reason why I did 4 stars and really they are a 4.5. I like a creamer ice cream with a bit higher fat content, but would never say no to a pint or cone from happy cone!o read more

Having lived in NZ it was just a tremendous joy to find out about Happy Cones!! It's not a just a place to grab ice cream but it's a place that you can feel a heart and soul went into. When there is an ice cream spot close by I can never not stop and I am glad I didn't pass this spot up! Happy Cones is located in Edgewater Market Place by Sloans Lake, aka in a great location. And this spot totally fit the area. I got the Hokey Pokey double scoop cone which has vanilla with caramelized toffee honeycomb, omg wow that toffee with the vanilla is perfection. My friend got the strawberry guava smoothie and that was very refreshing. I'm not exactly sure what New Zealand style ice cream is but it is something I'm intrigued about and will be back to try. Happy Cones.....More like Angry Cones. I am visiting from San Diego and my brothers said there is this ice cream shop we should try especially with the reviews being so good. To start off we got there at 8:50pm and the hours online say they are open until 10pm, but when we got there the open sign was turned off and the wooden board that had the hours written on it was taken off the window and I saw it on the counter. So we walk in and 3 girls working there didn't say hi or welcome us. It was super awkward and we said hi to them instead then with a a lot of attitude they helped us. We were soooo rushed and they completely left off all the special topping on a few of our orders. Then we asked about the ice cream salt they said it's on there and I said no there is no salt even though she charged us. The. One girl very rudely said there was too many orders so what if I might have forgot a couple of them......ummmmm what???? I'm sorry they we ordered 5 ice creams and there are 3 of you working. I thought business love to have business. I don't know who the owner is or even if one of those gals was an owner but I would be pissed if that was how my employee was treating paying customers. We were hesitant to ask for more things. Sucked to drive all that way and be treated like that. I definitely won't be recommending this place to anyone. Why would you work in a happy place like an ice cream shop if you are so miserable. And not just one employee but 3. The oat milk oreo cookie "gelato" was amazing. Gelato in quotes as it's more like ice cream than Italian gelato but I think this is how they distinguish the nondairy from the dairy. The husband had the mixed berry New Zealand ice cream; lots of fresh berry seeds and a gorgeous deep natural colour. The waffle cone was crisp and fresh. Not giving 5 stars as customer service was surprisingly abrupt and lacking in friendliness. Maybe it was a busy night and staff were stretched thin. read more

Happy Cones was a fun stop on my way to pickup up dinner at Edgewater Public Market. Who doesn't like ice cream as a pre-dinner treat? Happy Cones also has COVID protocols in place to help everyone feel comfortable while getting a sugar rush! You are asked to enter from the outside, so that the flow of traffic is structured. Masks are mandatory and everyone behind the counter had gloves on. Contactless payment in use. Fast, yummy and easy. My only hesitation in not giving five stars would be pricing for the two pints that I picked up. I was super excited to try Happy Cones Co, I love ice cream and this place has been on my list for a while. I got the mixed berry New Zealand style ice cream and while it looked fabulous, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. Although it was soft serve style, it wasn't very creamy and the fruit flavor was more muted than I expected. The fruit they used was frozen and you could definitely taste lots of frozen/icy chunks when eating the ice cream. The place was cute and I loved the marketplace that it was located in but next time I think I'd stick to regular ice cream. read more

We happened upon this place last year when visiting Denver from Albuquerque. It was so good and the customer service so wonderful that we came back twice. From Westminster. Literally the most expensive ice cream in the metro area. The tiny kids scoop my daughter got cost over $5. And it was not super delicious or anything special at all. Standard cookies and cream. Probably too expensive, but it's good. The New Zealand style is mixing some freezer fruit with sweet ice cream in a waffle cone. I got the strawberry and it was good! It's also interesting to watch the machine in action. They also have normal ice cream if you're not feeling up to the New Zealand experience. When I was a kid, my first job was picking berries in my native New Zealand. The orchard also made real fruit ice creams. My favorite memory is buying a real fruit ice cream for dad and me with my first paycheck. Aged 21 I left New Zealand to accomplish the goal of living and working in all 7 continents of the world before I turned 30. Along the way I met my lovely American wife, Mandy. After 9 years of travel & working 32 jobs in 7 continents, the best tasting ice cream was still the one I shared with my dad at my first job. This inspired me to bring real fruit ice cream to Colorado. You can now find us at The Edgewater Public Marketplace, opening November 2019. Come by say hi and get happy :)
