Whoa, what a unique spot within the Golden Mill food hall! We were really excited to try this when we saw it was New Zealand style. We didn't see this style while in NZ, but it was so unique! They have regular scoop ice cream, which I got - several flavors but the Hokey Pokey - NZ honeycomb - was a must-try for me. It was amazing - especially topped with hokey pokey dust! My friend got the unique style: essentially frozen fruit mixed with cream in this crazy machine to make fresh on the spot soft serve with real fruit. It was so fresh and tasted so healthy! Service was friendly and efficient - it's wild they make each soft serve custom to order. This is inside the food hall so it's a small counter, but it's great to enjoy on the food hall grounds. I absolutely ADORE New Zealand-style ice cream, but it is so hard to find. I was over the moon when we visited Golden Mill and found Happy Cones inside. Ended up grabbing it after my drink and before my food! New Zealand-style ice cream is unlike any other. It's so smooth and creamy, and the berries always give it that little bit of tartness to compliment the sweet. Get the sweet cream with mixed berries. You'll be happy. As I said, Happy Cones is inside Golden Mill. So to order from them, you'll need to get a Golden Mills card from the desk right when you walk inside. They'll link your credit card to it, and you'll use it for the alcohol and different vendors. They will automatically close out your card with a 20% gratuity on it. So sad I was only able to get their ice cream once on my trip, but you better know that next time I'm back in Denver, this will be one of my first stops. read more

Let's just start by saying I love my desserts and anything sweet. I was very excited to try Happy Cone with their New Zealand blended ice cream. Happy Cone was not happy at all. Actually the young lady who worked behind the counter seemed angry, miserable and short with the customers. As we sat eating our ice cream my son who's 15 commented on how she was being passive aggressive with the customers. Here's the deal. I don't care how good the ice cream or the ambiance is when I witness something like this I never want to come back. Stopped here for a quick ice cream with some friends visiting in town - we got New Zealand style with fruit (two of us got mixed berries, the other got pineapple raspberry). They basically take plain vanilla (?) ice cream and put it through a machine with the frozen fruit to create almost a smoothie-like ice cream (complete with fruit seeds). 4.5 stars. One of my favorite places for dessert in Colorado! I had no idea what New Zealand style ice cream was until my partner explained it to me. Love this shop in the Golden Mills food hall. I'm obsessed with the blueberry ice cream. Haven't tried any of the other flavors. Service is friendly and super chill. The only (major) downside is that we've tried redeeming a gift card here twice, but no staff member has been able to get Square on the iPad to work. What a huge bummer. Happy cones was located inside a building with several other food businesses. You check in and give them your credit card which they link to a card you can tap at any of the establishment there. Happy cones has new Zealand style ice cream and I'd say their description is accurate smoothie meets ice cream. The new Zealand ice cream has a sweet cream base mixed with fresh fruit. I still had some chunks of fruits in mine (not huge pieces). They also have regular flavors. I tried one of the seasonal ones honey lavender which was good too but ultimately went with the new Zealand style since I've never had that before. read more

It's a thick soft serve with a unique texture, and the little fruity bits are EVERYTHING. Choose whichever flavor sounds good to you. The double twirl just means more ice cream, not 2 flavors, but they can do a small layer of 1 flavor stacked on top of another if you really want.. it just won't have the same effect. PARKING: Parking available a block away in the Coors Tek lot, a lot of the spaces in front of The Golden Mill say "No Golden Mill" parking. SERVICE: There was no line around 9PM on a Saturday, staff was helpful and got us our ice cream quick. ATMOSPHERE: Small shop located downstairs within The Golden Mill. Ample seating available. My friends know I LOVE ice cream, so they recommended I check out this place in Denver. I've never had New Zealand style ice cream--it's seriously so unique. If you're familiar with boba/bubble tea shops, it's similar to the feeling of ordering a fruit tea, and the shop uses REAL tea and REAL fruit bits for your drink.. but it's ICE CREAM.
