Dropped in on a Monday afternoon and the place was packed! Luckily there was one free table for my family! It's a very small dive (about 8-9 tables) but a lot of delicious smell in the air. We ordered two hard shell tacos ($1.50) beef and chicken, both of which were delicious. I ordered the tamale and chicken enchilada platter ($10.00). The enchilada is basically a cheese filled, taco shaped item smothered in cheese and sauce. Rice wasn't anything to write home about but the refried beans were super excellent!! I really really love the sauce they smother over their burritos and platters!! Super tasty without too much heat. My husband ordered the smothered Colorado burrito and it was only $8.99! One of our favorite restaurants in Bennett. Remember that they are only open until 3 pm each day. Family owned and run -- always smiling and accommodating! Prices are reasonable. Always plenty of parking. Every dining-in patron gets delicious salsa, refried beans, and chips as an appetizer. Their breakfast burritos are delicious, the perfect combination of green chile, eggs, potatoes, and your choice of meat. My favorite dish is the chilaquiles with chorizo. The chips are crispy and mixed perfectly with the eggs, chile, and meat. My children are hooked on the chicken burrito with green chile and cheese. Their guacamole is also prepared very well. The food is great for the price. The smothered burrito sauce is excellent. The service is hit or miss. I ordered 2 smothered lunch burritos and was told that couldn't do a small portion of barbacoa. They recommended the steak instead. The steak was blah. The Carnitas however were outstanding. I also asked for no veggies and when they transported my meal out of the to-go container I didn't ask for, they promptly put vegetables all over the plate. The breakfast burritos come out if less than a minute even if you ask for something special. They have a few on hand in a heated box so you can stop in and be back on the road really quickly. This is by far my favorite place to stop and eat every time I'm in Colorado. You can't beat their burritos for $2, which is the only item on the menu that I've stuck to. Before I say anymore, let me just say, that I love Mexican food, live in CA where it is everywhere, go to Mexico every year and have taken cooking classes in Mexico. I say this before I say that this was one of the best Mexican meals my husband and I have ever had. I wish this place was in our neighborhood. My husband had a shredded beef burrito with green sauce and cheese, side of beans. I had the chiliquillas with the mild red sauce and spicy chorizo topped with 2 fried eggs, rice and beans on the side. The shredded beef was melt in your mouth with wonderful flavors. The chiliquillas were excellent. It is VERY difficult to get these right with the chips still crisp in all the sauce. I ate the entire order, which is not typical for me since I am not a huge person AND then ate an order of sopapillos with honey. OMG!!! I thought I had died and went to food heaven.
