Happy Burrito has been a staple in the Bennett community for quite a few years. They recently updated their menu and put some work into creating and updating their dishes. They have kept all of their classic dishes like the birra and tacos. The most important update is that they are now open for dinner! They open Monday through Thursday until 8:30 and until 9:30 the rest of the week, which is amazing! I believe they have their breakfast menu until 2:00pm then switch to dinner. I haven't tried all of their new dishes yet but I'm going through them one by one. They have a soup of the day now with tortilla soup, carrot soup, and potato soup on rotation, along with a few others. The tortilla soup and the carrot soup are vegetarian. They have a few designated vegetarian dishes on their menu snd are good about substitutions if you ask. I have tried their power bowl, their sunrise molcajete , the fried talamoa, and their angel burrito. I haven't had a bad soup yet. It's great to see them expand and try new items. I'm looking forward to trying the rest! The service, as always is attentive and earnest, and the servers all seem enthusiastic about the updated menu too. read more

Good hole in the wall place. The chips and hard taco shells looked great and were def made in-house. I would have loved to stay and dine in, def authentic, and locals were eating for sure. The breakfast platters people were eating looked solid. Looked like they had menudo or pozolé served...all the food looked good. Got carry out. The Colorado burrito was good. The steak chimichanga was good, a little thin on the steak, but still good. The green chile was a too watery, but the place is North of good green chile territory. Today we tried Happy Burrito for breakfast for the first time. They have eat-in space but we took our breakfast to go. We tried the Huevos Rancheros (gluten free with corn tortillas and very good), the classic breakfast burrito without cheese for a dairy free family member (he had no complaints; gone in no time) and a burrito supreme. We also got some horchata, which was quite tasty but could have more cinnamon for my taste. I ordered the burrito supreme with mild chili but it was so spicy I could hardly eat it. As a Hispanic woman I'm not quite sure why this restaurant has so many good reviews. I tried it once, and only once it was awful. The food was so bland, and the green Chile was horrible, more like a gravy and had zero spice or flavor. The breakfast burritos were ok, but again the potatoes were mushy and flavorless. I live in Bennett and will never again eat here; I wish someone would open a real Mexican restaurant, so I don't always have to drive to the city to get decent food. Worst food ever. Ordered the 3 combo with Chili Relleno, Tostata, and Enchilata. $11.99. Could not eat the chili relleno, was rancit and was flat! I had to ask the server what the enchilata was b/c it looked like a flour tortilla folder over and smothered with green chili again flat! The tostata was ahh, just ok. No meat, just avocado. This spot is not close to much, but it is worth the trip. Small restaurant putting out big flavor. The place is small, so the locals were coming for to-go orders, one after another, the entire time I was there. The staff was very nice. One thing that is different from most, they offer there burritos in large or small. For the price of one large burrito, you can try two small burritos.
