I'll admit, I was a little hesitant to try Happy Buns because of the low Yelp rating (2.5 stars at the time), but I'm so glad I gave it a chance, my experience was fantastic! We ordered the pork fried buns, vegetable dumplings, crab rangoon, and lettuce wraps, and every dish was delicious. The food came out fresh and piping hot, served as it was ready, which I really appreciated. Service was excellent, too! My drink was never less than half full, and the manager personally stopped by twice to check on us. It's clear they've listened to past feedback and made real improvements. I left full, happy, and already looking forward to my next visit. I highly recommend giving this place a try for yourself, you might be just as pleasantly surprised as I was! read more

So, I don't leave reviews very often, but when I do just understand, it's serious. I tried this place last night because it had just opened a few months ago and I was craving some Chinese food. I ordered the wonton soup, chicken soup dumplings, and the spicy tossed noodles for to go. I was told my food would take 25-30 minutes, which is expected given that it's supposed to be made fresh... It was nearly an hour before I received my food, and no one seemed to know why mine was taking so long. I ended up leaving with just the wonton soup and the spicy tossed noodles, no chicken soup dumplings. They did give me a full refund, however, which I appreciated. Not the end of the world, though. I get home and start to eat my food, I begin to have an allergic reaction. Now, when I ordered my food, I asked the waitstaff if the noodles I ordered were made with any kind of nut products, to which they replied, no, but clearly someone is uninformed about the ingredients on their menu. Thank goodness, my allergy is not lethal... But that's not all. I would then proceed to spend my night throwing up all of my food from Happy Buns. I am extremely disappointed in my experience with this restaurant. I appreciate the staff being so cordial and attentive, but this is absolutely one of the worst experiences I have had at a new restaurant. I do not believe I will be back. read more

My family and I loved our lunch at Happy Buns. The decor and ambience was colorful, warm and made us feel like we were in an authentic Chinese bun house. The food was excellent -- we had beef and soup pork dumplings, spicy edamame, orange chicken, spring rolls and chicken noodles. Everything had a great flavor. I really wanted to like this place, but the wait times were unbearable. We showed up during normal dinner hours and ended up waiting nearly an hour just to be seated, and then another long stretch before our food even arrived. What made it worse was that no one kept us updated--just lots of sitting around with empty water glasses. When the dishes finally came, they were fine but definitely not worth the amount of time we spent waiting. There are plenty of other Chinese restaurants nearby that manage to serve good food and respect their customers' time. We were excited to know a new Chinese place opened so we ordered a few items like the spicy wontons, chicken soup dumplings, zhajiang noodles, and bbq pork buns. Ambiance was nice and clean. Everything tasted pretty good but the portion sizes are ridiculous. I'm Chinese and have eaten bbq pork buns all my life, these look like they were made for kids! Portion sizes must be adjusted or prices should be lowered to match. We left still hungry, and probably not coming back unless they make some changes. I think the place was good but i did not like the food very much. At least for me this food tasted lets just say not the best at least the buns you know the thing they known for. I think maybe I could have gotten a bad batch but I think it was a bit undercooked and made me feel a little bit sick afterward. Service was alright but I think if I came back I would just be back for the ambiance not the food. read more

the wontons were our favorite overall, the sauce had a tiny kick. the service was great - our waitress was very attentive. overall loved the atmosphere when we went around 3 not busy and the decoration is beautiful. the other dumplings were pretty ok for mansfield asian food, not as strong as other dumpling places in the metroplex but good for how convenient it is. read more

We were seated promptly upon arrival, which was the only part of the visit that went smoothly. After sitting down, we waited at least 10 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order. I asked if there was a drink menu or where I could find the non-alcoholic options. The staff member seemed irritated by the question and bluntly told me they only serve Pepsi products and don't offer a drink menu. Several minutes later, our waitress arrived and asked for our drink order. I repeated my question about the drink selection, and she confirmed they currently don't have a menu either--but at least she listed the available options. About 10 minutes after that, our drinks finally arrived. Then another 15 minutes passed before she returned to take our food order. Roughly 20 minutes later, she brought out two small dishes of dipping sauce--for dumplings we hadn't received yet. Another 15 minutes went by before she came back to apologize for the delay. Ten minutes after that, we received the first of the three items we ordered. Twenty minutes later, the second item arrived. By then, my wife and I were exhausted from waiting. After another 20-25 minutes with no sign of the final dish, I asked the waitress how much longer it would be. She apologized and said she'd check--but never came back with an update. I walked over to the host at the front and told him we needed a to-go box and no longer wanted the last item. As I turned around, they were just then bringing it out. We asked for it to be boxed, paid, and left. It's unacceptable to receive one dish at a time with long gaps in between, especially when other customers who arrived after us were served much faster. We even watched one person wait over an hour for a simple to-go order. The service was disorganized and frustrating from start to finish. To be fair, the food tasted great--but the experience was so poor that we won't be returning. read more

We waited over an hour and a half to be seated, 4 other parties were seated AFTER we were told our table was ready. A gentleman then asked if we would be okay sitting at the bar, we agreed as we were already very hungry. He promised they were just waiting on clearing the area for us and then they sat another couple there!!! Insanity. Had they communicated better or been better organized maybe we would've settled for carry out. this was our first time going and will definitely be our last, what we ordered looked nothing like what the advertising posts on social media show, our fillings looked like spam meat in our dumplings, the fried squid was double fried it was so hard, the pork buns were not good and spring rolls were very greasy,also our waiter was awful! as soon as we sat down he had asked us what we were going to order mind you he knew it was our first time he never mentioned what kind of drinks they served we had to ask him if they served boba drinks because we had seen many people order and he said yes we serve what flavor you want we didn't even know what flavors they had, service sucked! and the place is too small for all the hype! that was our experience on a saturday afternoon plus the waiting list they said was going to be close to 40-45 mins we were at an hour and then rushed as soon as we sat down! read more
