Half of my order - well labeled, sealed and quite frozen
    World T.

By chance I happened on this gem! It's modest exterior hides the wealth of frozen dumplings and buns! The shop is very clean, freezers with top slide glass doors, well-labeled bags of 20-50 pieces of frozen dumplings, a side freezer of other goodies and the green onion buns caught my eye. The buns are huge! The lady helping me was very sweet, and even gave me a bag for my other groceries I was juggling as I perused the choices. At home, I steamed the buns for about 10-15 mins on low flame after the water was boiling. They're just buns, so no specific flavor. The dumplings can be microwaved in a bowl with water. I first started w (5) halfway submerged dumplings and nuked for 3 mins at high. After cleaning the microwave plate off of boiled over water, I nuked it for 2 more mins. It was super hot so after a couple mins waiting I ate them all! Tasty by themselves without sauce! This is a bargain of a place and so clean!

The lady was very friendly. She was very nice. The store has a lot of items which are frozen and ready to take home mostly buns and dumplings. I got the pastries to try. Six for $15. Homemade food is always good. Support them in Newark community.

Small family store with lot of frozen dumplings You have to buy box packages no individual pastry and no English. Only Chinese speaking but they are very friendly. The pastries was really good as it's homemade, not too sweet and very fresh. I will definitely come back. I love the pastries with black sesame filling.

The frozen dumplings and wontons are hand made, high quality, and so delicious! Much tastier than other places.

Pearl Bay has high ceilings and a gigantic screen, and it seems like a lot of wedding banquets take place here. They have a hot deal weekday special that's $488 for a table of 10-12, and it was a lot of food. I think they limit it to a few tables a night. Service was not bad - they refilled ice water multiple times, which was surprising for a Chinese restaurant. That said, it would have been nice if they had actually announced what dishes we were getting. The menu included: - Chicken soup - Stir fried beef with vegetables - Cold marinated chicken and geoduck - Fish maw with pea sprouts and shiitakes - Fried egg tofu - Steamed fish - Twin lobsters with vermicelli - Suckling pig with steamed buns - Fried rice The highlight was the fish roe fried rice: great texture and flavor. Other things were variable in flavor. For example, the lobster was good, but the vermicelli texture and flavor were lacking. The banquet menu we got was good value and was more than enough food. I am definitely interested in trying their weekend dim sum.

This place is a unassuming shop, and you wouldn't really notice it unless you were looking. There were three other groups there when we were seated and it stayed quite empty. They only had two people working and there were about 5 tables of diners. These two servers were running around non-stop and you had to flag them down every time. They didn't have time to refill our tea pot so they just left a big jug of hot water at our table to refill it ourselves. The restaurant is large, but feels very old and dated. Some chairs were taller than others, carpet needs to be replaced, its in desperate need of a deep cleaning, refresh and remodel. The food was just OK. Some stuff was overcooked and our fish dish and some of the crab was a little under cooked, while some dishes were swimming in oil. Between 8 adults and 2 kids, we had about 9-10 dishes with lots of leftovers (noodles) to take home. Since my mom picked one of the preset menu options, our bill was over $500 for mediocre Chinese food!!! Let's just say, I have no intention of ever coming back.

The line moved quickly and we were seated in around 5 minutes. The restaurant was crowded, but there were still a few tables available, when we arrived around 1:30pm. The restaurant was abuzz with guests talking, interacting with the staff and a lot of conversation going-on. We ordered Steamed BBQ Spareribs in Black Bean Sauce, Baked BBQ Pork Buns, Soy Sauce Chow Fun, Chinese Broccoli in Oyster Sauce, Salt & Pepper Fish Filet, Har Gow (Steamed Shrimp Dumplings), Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Beef Rice Noodle Roll, Pork & Shrimp Siu Mai and Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll. We enjoyed all our dishes. They were hot and fresh. All the dishes were very good, but the Salt & Pepper Fish Filet was our fave. It had a crispy exterior and the fish inside was tender. In addition, the Baked BBQ Pork Buns were very similar to the ones they serve at Tim Ho Wan in Waikiki. The sugar coating on top is amazing. Our dishes came-out quickly. The staff were efficient, friendly and quick. The only downside was the noise level inside the restaurant. It was quite loud. Between the customers lively discussions, the staff helping the customers and the sheer liveliness inside, made it hard to have a quiet conversation. However, that didn't deter us from enjoying a very good lunch. As a bonus, we actually took several pieces of dim sum home, that I'll enjoy later.

However, every time I come in to pick up my order, I end up standing there for 15+ minutes before anyone helps me, even when there are employees standing right by the register. There's no greeting or even a simple "Are you picking up an order?" I'm always the one who has to speak up and let them know I'm picking up. I can literally see my food sitting there, and sometimes I feel like I could just grab it myself. And unfortunately, this isn't a one-time experience--it happens every single time I come in. The food is good enough that I keep coming back, but the customer service really needs improvement. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because a little acknowledgment and communication would make a HUGE difference.

My partner was especially excited to try the fried rice. He put some on his plate and ate about half of it before I asked to try some. As soon as I picked some up, I noticed the rice was extremely sticky, gooey, and even stringy--something I have never experienced with fried rice before. I immediately became concerned and looked it up, then smelled the rice and noticed a very sour, unpleasant smell. Unfortunately, my partner ended up feeling sick afterward, which made the experience even more concerning. The XLB was still good, and I did enjoy that. However, the spicy wontons were disappointing. The wonton wrappers seemed to have absorbed a lot of the oil from the spicy sauce, making them taste very starchy, heavy, and oily rather than flavorful. It's disappointing because I really enjoyed my first visit and was looking forward to becoming a returning customer. Unfortunately, after the experience with the rice and my partner getting sick, I don't feel comfortable returning. The smell and texture of the rice are something I honestly cannot get out of my head.
