The HK/Cantonese foods are all good tasting and legit. The place and location itself needs improvement, but service is good. There's usually 1-2 people walking around inside. They prefer processing Venmo payments and cash. Restaurant isn't fancy or upgraded. It's very original and casual in the old space. Not many morning customers today. HK cafes/breakfasts/restaurants aren't cheap these days, but value does exist. My chicken steak big breakfast smothered in good black pepper sauce was a bit over $16 which included beverage/bread toast/egg/bacon/fries. It was satisfying and delicious. I finished the entire plate with everything on it. Butter for my toast is always good fatty butter. The soymilk I had with my meal was legit. Nice. I also ordered a club sandwich with fries a bit over $11, as well as a noodle soup/egg/toast/ham breakfast with hot coffee a bit over $14 for takeout. Items were neatly packed in a white bag for me. Not bad for everything under $50. I paid cash and tipped $8. Lady server worked alone, but she's a boss lady who paid attention to details. Kitchen staffs are on fire early in the morning. I can hear them talking loudly in Cantonese. I haven't had HK breakfast in a while, so I do appreciate the foods and service here. Good simple breakfast menu with photos. Exterior of building is old. Parking spaces in the lot are plentiful. It's not an area that feels safe to walk around alone as there are homeless folks/disabled folks/people living in RVs parked nearby. McDonald's is next to the public lot. Overall, I am still satisfied eating here inside this old diner which had lots of seats and tables. Foods are worth it. It's the only place that's open late. My mom and I ate here last Monday. It was just us, which is a shock. The food is as good as what I get in Hong Kong. Great Chicken Chow Mein. Was full of noodle. Had dinner with my son over the weekend. He joked about wanting crispy noodles, which made me think of Cantonese pan-fried noodles, so we tried Fairwood. We ordered tomato beef pan-fried noodles, black pepper chicken steak with rice, and salt-and-pepper chicken wings. Went in with my friend and had a quiet lunch. Portion size is huge and the quality of the food is good. For the lunch special they also give you a soup or salad plus you can add on boba for a cheap price. Service is pretty straight forward with the owners being very friendly and sweet. The staff highly recommend Hainan Chicken Rice and told us it was made fresh today, so we trust her and ordered it. It is soooooo good - yummy, juicy, and fresh, very authentic! All of their big entrees come with a slice of garlic bread and soup. Pretty decent value and the food always comes out piping hot. Oh, and you cannot forget to order a HK style drink. Whether it's the milk tea or coffee milk tea, you won't go wrong. You could also try their lemon tea (iced or hot) which is a favorite of mine when we visit Hong Kong. The service is great! We were seated and served pretty quickly . They took our drink and meal orders and even gave out a juice box for our kiddo (complimentary). Parking lot is usually empty and it's right off the highway so there should be no issues getting here. A to-go disaster ... ordered Beef Chow Fun, Fried Chicken Wings with French Fries, Ox Tongue with Pasta in White Sauce, and Salty Fish and Chicken Fried Rice ... just 4 items ... logic would say to place the heavier and more full items at the bottom of the to-go bag ... that would be the Beef Chow Fun or Ox Tongue with Pasta in White Sauce or Salty Fish and Chicken Fried Rice ... today, the item that was placed at the bottom was the Fried Chicken Wings with French Fries ... there were only 3 (three) Chicken Wings and some French Fries ... a very hallow container ... the other 3 orders were stacked on top with the Ox Tongue with Pasta in White Sauce on the very top cause it came out last ... it was placed in an extra paper bag, just because ... the plastic bag that everything was placed in was knotted at the top ... on the way home, bumps and all, the Chicken Wings container caved in, making room for all other containers to shift ... the very top one, the Ox Tongue, was the first to slide down the roomy side ... upon hitting the bottom, the container and most contents spilled out into the paper bag ... sauce and all quickly made that paper bag useless, which tore open and placed cheese and sauce all over the other containers ... WHAT A MESS !!! Both were made to order and delicious. I love that the noodles came with calamari and fish, which is absent from the usual place we get our pan-fried noodles from. More often than not if you're not getting a soupy item like wontons or soup noodles, they will offer you a bowl of borscht (very Hong Kong like) and some garlic toast to go with your meal. They have printed menu with English translation. They also have white boards with items written in Chinese. The restaurant is situated in a large shopping center, so there's plenty of parking. It pains me to write this, since I've been a loyal Fairwood customer for years, and I've been close with the owner Sister Fong ever since she was working with her brother at Venus, but things have really gone downhill here. Portions have gotten ridiculously, egregiously tiny! On a random Saturday night in July, I decided to patronize around 9 pm or so. On the white menu is one of my usual favorites, Baked Greek Pork Chop over Rice (焗希臘豬扒飯). Similar to the regular Baked Pork Chop over Rice, it has always come with TWO pork chops about the size of my hand. As a matter of fact, this is the common standard for ALL HK cafés. This time around? It was two pieces, alright... but it was a SINGLE pork chop sliced in half! I was so aghast in disappointment, I had to flag down the waitress to send it back to the kitchen. Fortunately, they remedied the issue, awarding me an even bigger second piece - and who knows what other type of extra "sauce" added to it - but the damage had been done. It was only because I knew them that they were kind enough to rectify the issue, or else they would've likely told me to kick rocks. I feel bad for any new customers unfamiliar with the place and/or HK café cuisine in general coming in thinking that this is the normal, acceptable portion. I know during the pandemic, times are tough, but they have already raised the prices considerably. It's a much tougher decision spending my stimulus money here as opposed to the myriad of other HK cafés in the area. I'm still loyal to Sister Fong though, so perhaps I'll give them another chance, but if I get gypped again, they might need to officially change their name to (Un)Fairwood! read more

I was craving Hong Kong style cuisine so my kid and I decided to have lunch here on Friday around 1:30pm. We were seated immediately and the server was kind to give my kid a juice box.
