This place is bad ass! They have been in business in Encinitas for over 50 years. When I was visiting here recently, I was told I had to check out Hansen Surfboards. I'm from Arizona and we just don't have a large variety of beach gear to choose from out here. I was blown away how big this place is and how many different brand names they have. It's a beach and surf enthusiast's dream. I can see why so many people visit here from all over. I was able to pick up a ton of shirts. They had a lot of good quality apparel to choose from. The staff is pretty knowledgable too if you have any questions. Definitely check out the summer garage sale in the back parking lot area. They have lots of discounted items if you are on a budget. This place is so big. From the outside it does not look so massive... So far everyone who we have dealt with has been super helpful and friendly. Parking is never bad. The store is clean and organized. They have so many things to choose from. From candles & socks to swim suits & surf boards... Our most favorite item so far is our SAND BRUSH that we use after the beach to get all the sand off our bodies and boards before packing into the car. Best $20 I've ever spent. Plus super cool, friendly, and warm human being. I came in because I would get burning pain on the bottom of my feet every time I skied. No amount of advil would help. He took one look at them and gave me an assessment that was better than any podiatrist ever did -- (I played a NCAA DI sport and had many custom insoles made over the years). My feet have never felt this great and pain free after Squeely's work on my insoles + boots. Absolute legend. The only reason I don't save a gear shop visit for a mountain town is because of him. Squeely was awesome!!! Every year when I go skiing I'm always in a lot of pain and discomfort with the rental ski boots that I normally rent which doesn't make my skiing experience very enjoyable. I finally decided to purchase my own ski boots and I looked up reviews to find someone who knows how to fit ski boots based on your feet, etc. After looking at various ski stores, I found Squeely who got a lot of positive feedback and made an appointment with him. It was definitely worth the trip to drive all the way to Encinitas! He really knows a lot about feet, fitting and how to make the boots feel as comfortable as possible. Everything that he recommended was very reasonably priced. He definitely has a lot of experience and knowledge and I learned a lot from him! Everyone here is very courteous and friendly. I had my ski bindings mounted on my brand new ski and had the initial edge tuned and waxed at the downstairs. And I had Squeely worked magic on my brand new ski boots. I used to race long time ago and I always had stiff racing boots. This time, I didn't get a pair of racing boots but they are still considerably stiff at 130 (I only weigh 146lb). Anyhow, I had a few days of skiing at Heavenly Ski Resort after all these work done to my boots and ski. I had never felt so comfortable in my boots. I didn't even have to unbuckle my boots in the lift line. To be honest, they were so comfortable that I ended up pushing myself too hard and too aggressively, which resulted in lightly bruised shins. However, even with the bruised shins, I was still very comfortable and was able to push my shins and rotate my ankles. And with the best wax job, my ski was just gliding effortlessly on some of the boring flat sections where people were either skating or pushing to get going. I was just passing them as if I am on a motor. I can not thank them enough for one of the best skiing experiences. Now, I need to go back out there and appreciate what they do! Thank you, guys!!!! The quality of the last Hansen t-shirt I ordered was horrible compared to a few years ago.

Hansen's but more importantly Squeely is a lifesaver I bought ski gear online and everything was great except for the boots - they felt off. It wasn't until they inspected them that they realized the other company I'd ordered from had sent me 1 men's boot and 1 women's of the same style! I was leaving for a ski trip soon so Squeely took me upstairs and found me a new boot! I have an odd foot shape so it was a really difficult task. He ended up totally customizing the boot to fit my foot (heat molding, grinding, etc.) I cannot thank him and the full Hansen's team enough! Hansens Ski Shop- Thanks Squealy ( Michael H.) for custom fitting Intuition Pro Ski Boot Liners for my Dalbello Kryptons. The factory boot liners don't cut it for me for a snug and comfortable fit so I can feel connected to my skis without feeling like a subject of the inquisition. I will gladly endure 15 minutes of discomfort to allow the heated Intuition Liner to mold to my foot, orthodic footbed and boot shell so I can ski all day without pain.
