We shared 4 of the donuts (my favorite was a cake style with vanilla frosting) and also later shared a beehive cake (also quite good). Since the reopening, I've only had doughnuts from Hans (and they are awesome). But I needed a dessert for a party last night and decided to stop in to see what they had. They had a beautifully decorated cake right there in the case. The price was very reasonable so I bought it and hoped it would be good. It was the hit of the party! I grew up with this place so I was very happy to see it back in action. We came in during the week to try it out. No lines (timing is everything) and quick service. We picked out 6 different items for our half dozen and each was as good as the next. The Bavarian creme filled donut was my favorite, the "sticky finger" was runner up. The pastries are great, the lines suck. OMG, what a zoo!!! Every time I pick to come here, there's no parking and you have to wait in a long line to get your pastries. We stopped at Hans bakery on our way up north because we'd heard good things about it. Big mistake! It was Sunday morning, so we expected the donuts and rolls would be fresh. Wrong! The donut holes were as hard as ping-pong balls and had so much powdered sugar on them my 4-year-old granddaughter took a bite and spit it out. Another donut she tried got so must sugar on her hands we had a hard time scrubbing it off. My daughter's Bismarck had only about a dime-size amount of filling. My granddaughter' caramel roll was rock hard, and the cake donut I had was so dry I had to drink a half bottle of water just to swallow it. These were the worst donuts and rolls we've had, and if we'd have more time we'd have gone back and demanded our money back. What a disappointment! read more

This place is super cute on the inside; however, I am not a fan of the lack of items that are listed on the menu that is draped above the counter. Since a good portion of your time is spent in line, it would be nice to at least have a listing of the daily donuts available instead of having to peak through the gaps of people to see the donuts and other delightful pastries. The donuts were decent, but I prefer Cafe Donuts in Champlin - they just seem fresher in my opinion. The service was okay, and the line moved quicker than I expected. Was it worth trying? Yes. My mother in law and I stopped in to try as many as our bellies could handle. The openness and brightness of the building definitely adds to its welcoming vibe. The staff was very nice and willing to answer all our questions. Our favorite by far was the lemon Bismarck and the Cream cheese icing (which they went out of their way to get for me). The Bee Sting is amazing as well! We will definitely be back and if you're in the area it would be the perfect place to stop and have some coffee and treats before hitting the road again or starting your daily grind. I was there at 6 AM on March 21. There were three people in front of me. There were three people working the counter and one person ringing people up. 30 minutes later the lady in front of me was almost crying and she said she was so late for work, she could not believe how long it took to get her order filled. As for me I, asked for two dozen donuts and when I finally was able to pay and then open the boxes once I got to work found that I was only given 20 donuts. My opinion is the donuts are good but they in no way deserve the attention they get with the service they provide. I only live a block away and I will not be going back. read more

The only reason I gave a 4 star is because I've only had their donuts. Their donuts are absolutely amazing and reasonably priced. I've been their twice and the first time (right after the reopened) I was not able to try the beehive due to their delivery truck being late and they did not have the ingredients for them. Hans' has more than I expect from a bakery! All from it's wide variety of bakery goods to great amount of seating. While I only was able to try three different donuts, there was more on the menu that I wish I could have tried (like the Texas donut). Their raised donut was for sure a good donut, but not my favorite. The old-fashion donut stole the show for me and was definitely my favorite! The sweetness and size of the old-fashion certainly won me over and I would highly recommend. read more

We love Han's! It's a local gem and we were so happy when it reopened a few years back. The donuts are fantastic and overall the prices are fair. The "beehive" and smaller "bee sting" are their signature and while I don't understand the appeal many customers love them. Our family loves sharing their gigantic Texas donut! Overall a good variety of donuts and baked goods to choose from. I wish there were more gluten free options but can't hold it against them as most traditional bakeries don't have anything gluten free and Han's does often have a couple items. read more

Old is new again at Hans in Anoka - while I didn't see the 'beehive' people rave about, I did purchase both cake and raised, chocolate and glazed as well as the very delicious apple fritters and was not disappointed. The have 'texas' donuts which are a raised donut with a 9-inch diameter - both chocolate or glazed. I visited on 2/27 @ 6:10a and there were 10 people in line - when I left about 5-10 minutes later there were 12! That, in itself, is a testament to the delicious products they offer. read more

I am very disappointed and upset about Hans Bakery in Anoka. I planned my partner's Surprise 50th Birthday on 7/2/16. I planned ahead so I ordered a quarter sheet of red velvet cake at Hans Bakery in Anoka on 5/19/16. I paid for the cake on 5/20/16 charging to my card. On 6/30/16, two days before the party, I called to the bakery to confirm my order. Jana, the receptionist called me back and left a message on 6/30/16 at 12:38pm, saying that the cake will be ready on 7/2 at 6:30am. The restaurant owner was nice to pick up the cake for me. He went to the bakery around 2pm on 7/2/16, they didn't bake the cake for us. I called to the bakery and talked to the same receptionist. She couldn't find my order. She was trying to find my order by the last 4 digit of my credit card, instead of my name and last name which I thought awkward. She still couldn't find my order. I asked her for a cake to bring to the restaurant before 5:30pm, but she said she couldn't do anything because she couldn't find my order and payment. Plus, she is just a receptionist! Moreover, she said she doesn't work on Thursday so there is no way that she called me and left a message... I was trying to email the voicemail record and the copy of charge on my credit card, but the email doesn't work! After all this happened to me, I don't trust this bakery, no matter how good they make cakes and pastries, I won't deal with this bakery at all. They treated me as a customer so badly. On Sunday morning we decided to take our out-of-town guests for a Hans Bakery experience. Unfortunately, it was a very frustrating experience. They had one gal running the register and filling orders. I was shocked, and embarrassed, by the abundance of EMPTY trays in the cases in front of us. What a disappointment. As we patiently waited in line for our turn to buy some of the slim pickens, I noticed an abundance of FULL trays in the back, still on racks, just waiting to be put out. As I saw at least 2 other employees in the back area, I wondered why no one noticed or cared that there now was a line behind us, almost out the door, and still the cases were filled with EMPTY trays. When we got to the front of the line, and had the attention of the gal at the register, I enquired as to if they had more donuts than what was left in the empty cases. She replied, "Yes, they are just waiting to be put out." Oookkkkkk?? Was she, too, oblivious to the long line of people that were most likely wondering the same thing? What exactly were they waiting for? We purchased half-a-dozen of the donuts that remained, and left. We won't be returning. Very disappointing experience. They should have had at least one person dedicated to filling the shelves. They should take notes on how Tobies Bakery, in Hinkley, MN. fills their shelves and customers orders. read more

I am the girl that raced across town to get to this bakery to get my brother his favorite dessert with his 7 year old son. I knocked and begged for a few goodies. I was really happy that this place reopened and that is is a good bakery rather than the horrible place it turned into in the early 2000's. They have really done a great job incorporating the recipes and history (even the original sign) of the original Han's. They still have the beehive and the donuts are phenomenal. When I was younger, I learned to LOVE the twist donut at Han's and I really think it is the best in the Twin Cities area. If you go on the weekend, expect a fairly long line. I live close, so I try to go in about an hour before closing. There is not the biggest selection at this time, but I like that they make it fresh in the morning. So, I am at the mercy of what other customers leave me. :) If I had not been to the Swedish Bakery in Anoka, I would give this place a 5 star. When we moved here (Coon Rapids) last year, I was really sad there wasn't a good donut option in the area....other than the standard Cub Foods/Rainbow and heaven forbid Walmart in a pinch. Then a month later I heard the vacant, rundown building we saw when house-hunting was reopening- Hans bakery was coming back! I can't compare the reincarnated Hans to the original Hans, and I have no cool stories of coming here as a kid and staring at the donuts and sharing a beehive with my Grandma, but I HAVE eaten my fair share of donuts and I must say, Hans does a pretty fantastic job! Living minutes away I've been here quite a few times- always on weekdays! I've driven past on the weekends and wouldn't attempt it. It'd be worth the wait, for sure, but I prefer the more instant gratification. The selection of sweets grows almost daily, check out their facebook page and they post daily all of the goodies with pictures to tempt you even more. My first trip- Texas donut. Delicious raised donut. I ate the whole thing (it was a Monday, don't judge). I could eat it without the chocolate glaze even! Old fashioned donuts- good. Filled long johns- tasty. Bacon Maple long john- I really didn't think I'd like it...but it was good. I would survive not getting it again- other friends/family enjoyed it immensely though. Apple Fritters- LOVED- it had actual detectable chunks of apple, and the glaze was so light & fresh. Tried a bee sting (the smaller version of their famous bee hive). DE.LISH. get one. I could probably eat a whole bee hive, but let's say it's a good thing my husband is allergic to nuts so I can't bring any nut products home. Those candied almond slivers on the bee stings/hives- yum. Honestly though, one of my favorite finds, is the cinnamon twist donuts. I don't even like sugared donuts normally, but I've twice gotten these and savor every moment. Nice and airy/light, sweet, with a yummy cinnamon sugar coating. I hear people complaining about how busy it is, the long wait, small parking lot, how expensive it is, how hard it is to calculate prices, etc. My only complaint- there's SO many donuts/sweets to see, and when others are in line it's hard to see what's ahead on the line...by the time I'm half way down the cases I've already hit a dozen items *oops* read more
