The product itself has always been worth every penny. That said, I was disappointed to learn of the new policy charging $2 simply to slice a cheesecake. When purchasing a $25-$400+ cheesecake, an additional fee for a task that takes roughly 20 seconds feels unnecessary and, frankly, a bit off-putting. While I understand that rising costs are impacting businesses everywhere, this type of nickel-and-diming can feel discouraging--especially to long-standing, repeat customers who have consistently supported the business. A local legend. And honestly some of the best customer service I've ever seen. I don't even live in STL anymore, I went to send a friend a "treat" after a long day and opted to use Uber eats to have Hank's delivered. When they didn't have the item, they didn't cancel my Uber order (like most restaurants do). They called me, talked options and had the order ready for the driver to be delivered within 30 minutes. It simply reminded me how much I love their people as much I love their product and I hope that the St. Louis community continues to cherish Hank's in the way they deserve. Had a slice of Hank's caramel amaretto for my birthday. Of course, the phone did not eat first. But, the cheesecake was decadent. Much lighter than a lot of other cheesecakes out there which, in my opinion, was a welcome surprise. The saltiness of the caramel paired perfectly with the creaminess of the cheesecake. The amaretto adds a wonderful flavor that I cannot quite articulate. Delicious, nonetheless. The chocolatey crumb crust was also wonderful, I only wish it had a bit thicker layer to help its flavor shine through a bit more. Additionally, the single slice is a bit small, but that is okay. I wanted to order cheesecake long distance from OR for my daughter who lives nearby. I saw Hank's favorable reviews and decided to give them a go. All the slices were light and fluffy, which I like but they didn't have real strong flavors. Also, the crust on all 3 slices were paper thin. I'd prefer a thicker crust, especially the oreo crust on the double chocolate. The pumpkin was more of a pumpkin spice flavor than actual pumpkin unfortunately. The banana pudding tasted too much like just fluffy whipped cream. The double chocolate wasn't very sweet or rich tasting so it wasn't as satisfying as a dessert should be. read more

This review is purely based on customer service. I placed an order to be picked up at 3. I arrived at 330 and was told it would be a few minutes. There were four people working and I'd placed my order at like, 11am, but who knows what other orders they had. Im glad I didnt show up on time - I'd have been waiting a while. I ended up leaving with my order at 345. For what it's worth, the folks working were very nice. The other thing: the inside was a train wreck. Boxes and slips and stuff scattered everywhere. It looked like when Dale and Brennan destroy the kitchen while sleepwalking in Stepbrothers. I hate to be critical on this because they had a "we're hiring" sign, but I'm not sure how stuff couldn't be tidied up, at least around the front desk, with four people working... Be advised the sampler box contains little two-bite cheesecakes. I assumed I was getting bars or something like it, did not assume full slices based on price of the slices. I was definitely surprised to see what was pictured when the associate opened the box. $24 for what I got seems a little overpriced. If the management sees this, please include pictures of what people are getting when it comes to items that aren't slices or full cakes. I would have chosen a different item if I realized this is what I was getting. The tiramisu cheesecake is different from the website description but still slightly reminiscent of Tiramisu. It has a chocolate cookie base under a layer of rum cheesecake with a layer of vanilla cake on top and a top layer of a white cheesecake dusted in cocoa powder. I couldn't tell what flavor the top layer of white cheesecake was but it's texture was better than the rum cheesecake that was over cooked. I would return to try a different flavor but not this one.
