Juan is truly one of the good guys -- honest, incredibly knowledgeable, punctual and always willing to figure out the best solution rather than simply recommending the easiest or most expensive option. Our home is 120 years old, which comes with plenty of quirks and challenges, and Elite is exceptional at working with older homes. The team has helped us find thoughtful solutions that incorporate great technology and quality products while still making sense for our house. Above all, Juan operates with tremendous integrity. After working with him for nearly eight years, he is someone we completely trust and the first person we call for anything HVAC-related. Highly recommend Elite HVAC!

This review is loooong overdue but I just came across my notes on this fiasco so better late than…read morenever. In May of 2022 I contacted Elite hvac because my AC was not working. The first day (Wed) Frank showed up but he was not able to fix it so he said he could come back the next day. He came back the next day (Thurs) hours after he said he would be there and he still couldn't fix it. He came back a third day (Fri) but he didn't even tell me when he arrived I just knew bc I saw he had set up his ladder and then after awhile I go check on him and he's gone, didn't tell me when he arrived and didn't tell me he was leaving. I called the company and they reached out to see where he was and he said he had left to another job but that he would come back and finish. Later this same day on Friday I get a text saying someone else was going to come the next morning. I had not been informed of this before the text so I was not able to be home as I had plans. Frank then texts me on Saturday saying he has all the parts he needs now and was heading over to fix it. I have no idea what he did that day as I was not home. Then I get a text Saturday night that Frank was going to come on Monday (again I never agreed to this date). So I wasn't there Monday but I know Frank did show up bc when I got home later that day my fuse box was out and he didn't even tell me! Luckily I don't recall my food or anything going bad even tho it was super hot out. That was Monday when the fuse box went out. Then on FRIDAY I get a text from Frank telling me that my AC should be up and running and that oh by the way my breaker tried. DAYS later he lets me know that my breaker tripped. So at this point it had been over 1 week since he started working on my AC and it was still not working. So then Wednesday (2 weeks after the initial appointment) they finally sent a different person, Raul. He got there on time and started everything from the beginning. He fixed it within minutes and even waited awhile to make sure it actually cooled. He also took my payment for the part that Frank had "fixed". I'm convinced I probably didn't even need the part but at this point they had been out there like 6 times so they probably didn't want to back track. Then five days later my AC stopped working again and this time the owner Juan was able to come out the next day and fix it quick. He said it was a loose wire. So all in all it took 3 weeks with Elite to get my AC working again. Glad Raul and Juan were able to fix it promptly the times they did go out instead of Frank but not a great overall experience on my end.

I'm leaving this review to share a concerning pattern I've witnessed with Shevetz Heating and…read moreCooling over two visits. On my first visit, I observed behavior from staff that struck me as sexist toward women. On a second visit, my assistant was present to meet with them, and staff were dismissive and rude to her -- they largely refused to engage with her directly. Even more troubling, they reported to our building's front desk that they "thought something weird was going on," which felt like an inappropriate and baseless insinuation with no basis in reality. In my opinion, this reflects a broader pattern of unprofessional and sexist conduct that reflects poorly on how this company treats women, whether customers or staff. I'd caution anyone considering hiring them, especially if you're a woman who will be interacting with their team directly.

My central air stopped working. Both the AC and furnace were installed by Gartner many years ago…read more It's very hot, and I wondered how many days I'd be without air. Things never fail at convenient times, do they? Unrelated, but I had (multiple) crises with a car the same day. It was just one of those days when everything goes wrong, so this was the last thing I needed to deal with. I called around 4:30 pm and told the person answering the phone that it wasn't an emergency, they could call me back the following day. 15 minutes later, Chris called. He asked a few questions, guessed as to the cause and offered to be right over (I'm in Skokie too, about a mile from their offices). Chris was at my house literally minutes later. And he over the phone diagnosis was spot on (fried capacitor). He had the right part on his truck, and in 15 - 20 minutes, the AC was restored. He also did some minor repairs to the furnace and duct work as part of the service call at no additional charge. I couldn't be more pleased. Gartner also did a replacement to my parent's furnace, a very complicated removal and install. Thank you Darren (the owner who didn't charge 'emergency service' rates) and Chris for his spot-on diagnosis and quick, efficient work that got my AC restored so quickly. Way to go guys, thanks!

I was paying for their VIP service and that is the quote I got. I said no way since I trust them zero. Got Hero Air, who get amazing reviews on Yelp to come out and were there within 2 hours. Turns out I needed a new thermostat, which all in for diagnosing, running out to get the thermostat, and installing for $407. He also recommended a deep cleaning and charged me $150, so for $557 instead of $1,833 which wouldn't have even fixed the problem I am up and running 4 hours after requesting an appointment. So when I said above they hope idiots will let them get away with charging triple, I was not exaggerating. ABC deserves to go out of business. It seems like with their AI reservation system and "fluid" scheduling they probably go bought out by private equity and it seems like they are running themselves into the ground. They said they could try to do a repair for about $1.3k but that they couldn't guarantee the repair would be effective because of the condenser. They then tried to sell me on their highest end heat-pump for about $24k, which was too much for our needs, since our furnace was also functional. We ended up choosing a basic AC replacement for around $9k. They were able to install the new unit two days later. However, on the day of the install, they saw some surface level rust on the furnace heat exchanger and tried to get me to replace it for an additional $4k. When I said no, they backed off and recommended a CO alarm (which we already have). It felt like I was being heavily taken advantage of because I was in a dire situation. The installation went fine, but my experience of being pressured and hard sold to during the process made it feel like I was being milked for every penny they could get out of me. Take this as a precaution to check your HVAC AC/furnace/heat pump regularly, and get multiple quotes before deciding on work. If you go with this company, they will seemingly do an effective job, but they will try their best to get as much money out of you as possible.
