Best doctor anywhere no but and if about it the staff is very helpful and understanding when you get there

Receptionist hides from view and didn't acknowledge I was there. After 10 minutes I approached the window and now she is there and I HAD TO CONTACT HER. She should be in position to see the front door and visually acknowledge client when then come in. Once I get my inserts I'm done with this place. Front receptionist needs some down to earth retraining on client relations and how important first contact is to a business. Hangers didn't review Yelp reviews because they must think their reputation stands for itself. Well this store on Fair Oaks needs a new receptionist read more

I want to give Hanger a great review because of stellar people they have working with customers in Pasadena. When I first needed my leg braces a year ago, everything went well. I had very attentive help and the braces are good quality. If it had ended there, I would give five stars. Less than a year later, however, I need simple velcro straps. I thought I would just find new straps online for a few bucks, but am having trouble, so I thought Hanger would help. They acted like they would help, but instead they wasted a month of my time. I went in there, and the same guy who helped me purchase the first ones took a look at the velcro and said he would order new. So, I waited and waited. I finally called them, a full month later, and they still have no straps. At this point, (a month out) they start asking me the same questions they asked a month ago. Am I paying cash or insurance? The guy who helped me told me at the time insurance would pay, but now, at this point, A MONTH LATER, they are asking this? Then they tell me I need a prescription from my doctor. For velcro straps. I need a prescription for VELCRO STRAPS! Well, screw you for this kind of treatment. Unbelievable. You do not need a prescription for something you should be able to buy at Home Depot for three dollars (even though in reality these straps are a little more complex and I have to keep hunting for them or at this point have them made) and I will stay away from Hanger. I will pay more to have them made because no more of my money goes to Hanger. They saw my straps failing a month ago and hung me up this long only to deny efficient service. They could have denied it a month ago, but for some reason they want to not only waste your time, but your doctor's as well. Imagine going to college for eight years and being asked to write a prescription for a piece of velcro. I guess I would still recommend them for things that actually cost money. My help was very professional for the serious stuff, but with this prescription requirement for a few dollar piece of hardware they have bound themselves up with rules that are nothing but goofy and anti-customer. read more

Referred by Kaiser MD to obtain back brace. I am insured by Medicare thru Kaiser. Rosie from Hanger Clinic called to set appointment. In advanced I asked what my co-pay will be, expecting it to be free or a minimal amount base on MD's estimation. Rosie said it won't be free and to expect to pay approx. 10% of retail $37.50. If 10% = $37.50 then retail to the uninsured public would be $375.00. I used to sell back braces and the retail price was never more than $50.00. In my opinion Hanger Clinic needs to review their, "Fraud, Waste and Abuse", policy if they continue to accept Medicare payments. read more

I had an appointment & was seen 10/21/14 for Orthotics for my newborn son, It is now 11/14/14 and have not been called to return for his fitting, in the same way they had my referral for weeks before I finally had to call and schedule my own appointment. When I first walked in the receptionist at the front desk could care less we where there, the prosthetist Vardan was professionally a disappointment to me. He was standoffish, kept cutting me off when I was asking questions about my son's treatment and question my son's Doctor on her prescription for treatment. Information I gladly told my son's doctor and member services. I would have denied services once they call to return, but they haven't. I'm assuming as the receptionist told me, once they get paid she'll call me to come in. read more

Refered here by my podiatrist for a much needed orthotic. Was left on hold for 20 minutes. Called back 4 days in a row, no one picks up phone, left message with answering service during hours of office operation, that was 3 days ago. Podiatrist office called with no success. My experience is an unprofessional one and I have not even walked through the door. Needless to say it's best I go elsewhere. read more

My husband and I were referred to Hanger clinic late last year for our twins. One suffered from a flat head and the other had an asymmetrical shape. We were welcomed and treated with great respect and service. Thomas was amazing and truly caring. We couldn't have picked a greater team to help with this process. The process was effortless and the girls were comfortable in their helmets. We greatly appreciate everything they did! Thank you Thomas! read more

I went to the Oakbrook Terrace location, on of the worst decisions of my life. I've been trying to get an appointment , get fitted fro shoes and orthotics since December 29 2021...to no avail. i wated for my first appointment from December 29th 2021 until June 14th 2022! Finally received shoes and orthotics about 6 weeks later was told if they don't work out they could be returned. Two months later she's hurt my feet ordered different pair....have never been contacted regarding shoes!! Contacted Manger Mary Jane regarding getting my money back and returning their orthotics, was told I can't return the orthotics and I will only receive $18.46. I'm going to contact my insurance company and let them go after Hanger Clinic/Scheck&Siress. Please please don't go to this place, trust me, you'll regret it. This has been a 10 month ordeal. read more

I'm a bilateral BTK amputee and have been going to Hanger for 5 years. I'm on my 3rd prostheses and the fit has been increasingly better. When I walk with long pants people have no idea I walk on prostheses. They fit really well, and if there's a problem they figure out how to address it. Vardan and Tom for one of the protheses, have been my prosthetists and are very professional, detail oriented, experienced and explain things really well. It's an incredibly complex job, requiring accuracy, artistry and dedication. I compare Vardan to Dr Spock, he speaks very straight and is scientific about what he sees and what the problems and solutions are. From what I read on Yelp some people find that difficult to deal with. Too bad, I trust him and from experience know that he won't give you a finished product without going through all the processes and having checked all the avenues to make sure the shoe fits. And Rosie is great,,experienced with dealing with insurance and helping out with appointments, she's what her name suggests. read more

Ever wonder why health insurance premiums are so high? One reason could be that places like Hanger charge insurance companies $400 for an item that can be purchased online by the consumer for $50. I'm referring specifically to a walking boot. Even more unfortunate, my insurance company did not cover the cost of the device. This I found out too late; after the boot was on my foot, meaning that $400 was coming out of my pocket. After some push back by me and showing some price quotes from my 'favorite online shopping site' to a clerk in scrubs (?) I was given the boot for $216. This was still 4 times more for the EXACT same boot I could have had delivered to my home in 2 days! Worse, it took them so long to send me the bill I could not get reimbursed from my health savings account. Moral of the story, put some ice on it and wait 2 days. read more

I was so disappointed with my consultation with Vardan. I was there for an AFO. From the moment he walked in I could tell he was either in a bad mood or just had a standoffish personality. He mentioned how he didn't like to sugar coat, and needed to be direct with the information however he truly made me feel awful and hopeless with my situation. He kept saying you have a deformity and are not normal. He gave no positive options, suggestions he just sounded like this is what I'm offering take it or leave it. I left there, worse off then when I came in. Vardan, find another line of business. As for me, I'll go somewhere else. read more

Have to say that these good people have changed my life. After suffering a TBI, my left side became weak, leaving me unable to walk with out a cane. In February of this year I was fitted with a carbon fiber AFO recommended by Thomas. in the 3 short months since fitment, I took my first steps without the cane on May 17th, and have progressed to walking further and further every day without cane assist, including work. Thomas and Rosie have been instrumental in my recovery and I cannot thank them and the entire Hanger organization for their assistance and expertise. Highly recommended and Job well done! read more

My experiences with this Hanger Prosthetics office have been nothing short of fantastic.. not to mention I stumbled (pretty much literally- my prosthetic was ill fitting and causing me so much pain I couldn't walk) into this place on accident.. I was supposed to be at the one downtown and ended up here. I'm very lucky for that. The staff is very friendly and they set me up with Vardan a C.P.O who has really gone above and beyond to help me. When he saw me he kindly informed that I would need a revision surgery because there were clearly a few things wrong. He suggested a few great surgeons and has been very hands on in helping me with that process. He also, immediately, started working on a new temporary socket so that I could at least function a little before my surgery. It's safe to say that I am going into this revision surgery feeling like I have the support and team I need. The office is a little dated but it's the people inside that count. 10/10, 5 stars, would recommend. -from a real BKA, thank you to Vardan and everyone and Hanger!!! read more

If you are a veteran amputee, especially above knee, you know how hard it is to get a good fit. And when you find a prosthetist who listens, is great at his craft, professional, competent, kind, and funny you know you hit the jackpot. I found all that with Vardan at Hanger Pasadena. Before working with Vardan my prostheses felt heavy, uncomfortable, and looked unpleasing. I was constantly in pain when walking, had boils on my limb, and walked with a pronounced limp. I was self-conscious about my limp and the way my prosthesis looked. And believe me, in the previous 30 years I have worked with maaany prosthetists! I found Vardan 10 years ago , and he made a number of prostheses for me over the years. HE IS AMAZING!!!!!! My stump is very complicated, but we get a perfect fit every time. In my 38 years of wearing an AK prosthesis my fit was never this comfortable, I never walked this well, and my legs never looked this good. As a working mother this means a lot to me, as I feel more confident, I can do so much more with my kids, friends, and family. The clinic staff is very friendly and professional as well. They always greet me with a smile and always help me figure out the in's and out's of my insurance coverage. They are very punctual and always see me on time. If you are looking for a pain-free and comfortable fit and professional service I highly recommend Vardan and his staff. read more

I really liked. This place. The people are so friendly. Make you feel right at home. They have an excellent staff. Althea was really helpful she went out of her way to answer all my questions and help me with all my needs and has a great customer service relationship with her patients. I was worried about how things were going to fit and work out she made me feel very at ease. Thank you very much read more

Wow, I too had the priviledge of talking to Althea. How does this lady still work at this place? Hanger Prosthetics claims it has been in business for 120 years or so but doesnt care how this one single person trashes their over one century old reputation in the industry? Very condescending and rude on the phone. Quite frankly would rather go buy braces at Big 5 rather than have to submit myself to such demeaning treatment read more

I made an appointment 2 weeks ago and they gave me a wednesday appointment for 930am the following week. I called to reschedule for tuesday and after much haggling, she scheduled me on a tuesday 3pm TODAY. I called on my way to tell them that I'll be a few minutes late. (I had an appointment with the tech named Vartan. The assistant said that he's only there on wednesdays.) I spoke to Samantha and she said that I dont have an appointment! I insisted I did make the appointment and that I cancelled my other Doctor's appoint just for this! After a few minutes, she came back and told me that my appointment is on Wednesday at 930am. I said I specifically said that I cant come wednesdays because of pre-ops and dialysis at 12noon! She said I could go to other locations or reschedule another day. I asked for this Thursday and she offered monday. I said Im having surgery on Monday that's why I couldn't come this wednesday, pre-ops, bloodworm, pre-admission, etc. Then she said I could go to another location. I said OK I will go to (their competitor) INLAND PROSTHETICS instead! They just lost a few hundred dollars in business! Stay away from this company! read more

Worst Place I've ever been. I brought my 10 yr old son with Cerebral Palsy in today to get a brace for his left leg. The Doctor informs me the style of brace he is going to get and I asked him that doesn't look like the right brace and showed him the one my son used to wear. He said he only only fills prescription and doesn't give advice. What the heck? So, than I asked if I can call my wife to verify before he orders, he tells me no you can call her later I'm not waiting for you, even though I said it would be a 10 second conversation. He also said he doesn't do crying kids, he tried to show my son it was ok by doing my leg, but it's going to cost me. I was really disappointed and my son needs the brace to walk correctly. Filed complaint with Kaiser and will get referred to another vendor. read more

My son has had a prosthetic leg for 9 years. He gets a new one once a year and each time he has had a new prosthetic from the previous Prosthetist, it will only last him about 9 months due to his growth. Since insurance will only allow a new leg once a year, my son would suffer from the tightness of the prosthetic and he would be limping. Due to new employment and change of insurance, I was sent here to see Vardan. What a great change that was. Vardan is great with my son. He is very patient, friendly, and funny. His office staff is very kind and helpful. The first prosthetic leg Vardan made for my son lasted him 17-18 months. My son's prosthetic leg was made well and the fit was awesome. My son did not complain about the fitting at all. Vardan did a wonderful job in measuring and taking the time and effort to make sure that the prosthetic leg would fit my son well. Especially having this leg last so long is already 10 x better then the previous maker. I am glad that I had an insurance change which led me to Hanger Prosthetics. read more

I've been a patient with Hanger since, well, a lifetime it seems. I'm a below knee amputee and have always received 5 star treatment. Vardan Gazarian was my prosthetist at this Hanger location for over five years. He made me two prosthetic bk legs over that time and I have not had a leg since that was more comfortable. I now live out of state and I have tried multiple other clinics trying to find a comparable prosthetist to no avail. Amputees that live in the Southern California area are lucky to have him. read more

Most professional and knowledgeable employees. See Althea who is the technician and Rosie to set your appointments.

Hanger was referred to me by a top ranked Doctor in the Orthocarolina office. The first time visit was very good. Hanger made me a leg brace and customized a pair of shoes to fit the brace. After about 18 months I needed to have the shoes replaced and when I went back to the Hanger office they told me that they never put the brace and shoes together for me. I ask them did they just make the brace without the shoes. They could not answer that question. I have been looking for another company to either fit my brace with a shoe or get another brace and shoe combo. Good to see so many others having success with Hanger. I did not. If anyone knows a good company to get a shoe paired with a brace. Call me at 724/813/2126. I live in the Charlotte, NC area. Thank you in advance. Steven read more

I've been to this particular location multiple times over the past few years and I've been happy with their service. I highly recommend it.

Althea, the lady who works here has the worst customer service skills. She shouldn't be working here period. I had to keep following up with her regarding a neck brace that my dad needed for neck surgery. Each time I called, she said it was not in and that she still needed to follow up with the insurance regarding changing the code for the authorization. She told me she would call me when the brace was ready. A week goes by, still no call. I follow up with her and she promised to call me as soon as the brace was in. Finally, 2 days before my dad's surgery, I called her as soon as the office was open at 9 am. She answered the phone and told me that the brace was in and that my dad could come in at 2 pm that day to try it on. No apology on her part for not contacting me when it was ready, as she had promised, knowing very well the date of my dad's surgery. However, I told her we couldn't come in at that time since my daughter was still in school. Instead, I requested a 3 pm appt. Her rude response was "are you bargaining with me?" I explained that I was the one transporting my dad since he is unable to drive and basically was begging her to make an exception. I've never had to do this ever before but seeing that we needed the brace for the day of my dad's surgery, I did not want any problems. She reluctantly agreed to see us at 3 pm. When we got to the appt, we were 20 minutes late ...right away, she gave me a hard time. She started to lecture me about us being late and that when she gives us an appt, we are not allowed to "bargain" with her to change the appt since that is the only time she has. I decided enough was enough. I was not going to take this anymore. I was not going to just stand there and let her take her shots at me, when I have plenty of shots of my own to give. I complained about her not contacting us when the brace was ready. She replied that she didn't call me because the brace wasn't ready. However, I called 9 am on Friday and she told me it was ready. That means the brace was ready the day before. Her other response was that she did not hear back from the insurance regarding changing the code on the authorization. She said she's only giving us the brace first because of my dad's upcoming surgery. Basically, she's saying she's doing us a service by giving my dad the brace first without the proper authorization. I don't believe that. However, I had the authorization in my hand that the insurance mailed us with the updated code. Clearly, she was speechless. The only thing she could do was ask to see the authorization so she could make a copy of it. What kind of office schedules an appointment time for the patient and the patient has no say whether or not that time is good? And when you want to change to a different time, then you are "bargaining" with them? Furthermore, I find it hard to believe that any medical office would dispense services or products to a patient without receiving all the proper authorizations first. What a joke! read more
