At the destination I discovered that…read morethe wardrobe boxes containing my clothing on hangers were also tightly jammed with other items, such as a full size plastic clothes hamper (into which a comforter was tightly jammed), unprotected shoes and an iron, full-size file boxes, a wastepaper basket, a tripod, etc. The force and displacement resulting from of all that jamming caused my clothes to not just be all creased, but also damaged, including a leather jacket whose collar was permanently dented in two places. Mats and a rug which should have been rolled up were instead tightly folded and bent. An upholstered chair had its upholstery ripped. A microwave oven for which I had the original box and styrofoam had the platter thrown into the interior loose and unprotected. Possibly the most clear-cut indicator that the damage was intentional was my favorite mouse pad (which has been discontinued), which was made of a firm material and yet was packed at the very top of a box's interior having been completely and precisely folded in half, making it forever unusable. The boxes that had been packed in my presence in the living room had tons of packing paper in them, but the boxes that were packed out-of-sight in the bedrooms often had no packing paper at all and looked like drawers had been turned upside down and the contents dropped into the boxes. Then there's the usual damage such as glass artwork being shattered, cardboard boxes being crushed., etc. This is all documented in photos, as well as videos of me opening up the wardrobe boxes. I had completed as instructed the high-value inventory online, but when I was presented paperwork to sign after the boxes had been loaded, it said I had "none" and that it was too late to fix. For both the A1A packers and movers, I tipped each of them $50 before they started and told them they would each get another $50 afterwards, for which I kept my word, and yet they did this.

Requesting a quote The call with each mover is very similar. You list your items and each company values your move slightly different. Some focus on including an hour travel charge, others focus on the number of boxes moved, etc... I liked Cartier because they asked about permits and proof of insurance. No one else did and assumed it was not needed. Other claimed they had no hidden fees. Cartier answered all my questions and didn't seem to have any hidden fees either. I was taken back that their sales rep couldn't give me a total. He said he doesn't want to mess it up by adding it all up. I called back to their main office and whomever answered the phone was able to give me a total. I paid the deposit and waited. Moving day The day before I received a text confirming my move. The guys called me letting me know they were on their way. They arrived at 10: 05 am ish. My move window arrival was between 10 am and 12pm. They were in my apartment ready to go at 10:14pm and asked if starting the time at 10:15am was okay? I said yes, and off they went. I went outside to look at the truck and it was pretty run down and didn't have the companies name on it. The guys weren't wearing company shirts either. The truck was huge and fit all my stuff, but it wasn't clean or new. These guys were quick, strong, and efficient. The moved all the boxes first, then wrapped the glasses, and lastly moved the heaviest items. The drive to my new apartment was 25 minutes. They said they were going to grab some drinks and head over in 10 minutes. I went straight to the apartment and they were there by the time I arrived. Just as quickly, they unpacked the truck, rebuilt my bed, tables, and it was all done by hour 3. One of the moving guys called Sebastian, who gave me a total, charged the card, and they left. I tipped in cash. Overall thoughts This company felt like it all worked out and that is why I had a great experience. For my first time using a moving company I was impressed. I would consider using them again and you should quote several companies and see which one offers you the best.

In just over a year, Public Storage has shown their true corporate greed. They lure you in with a competitive "web rate," wait until your items are packed inside and you are trapped, and then aggressively jack up the price because they know moving physical furniture is a massive hassle. I just received notice that they are spiking my rent to a staggering $239 a month starting September 1st! This is nearly triple the standard market average for a 5x10 space in Plantation. You can look at their own website right now and see they rent the exact same size units to new customers for a fraction of that price. To raise a loyal, on-time paying tenant's rate this drastically in just over a year is predatory and deceptive. They are gambling that I will just pay the inflated price instead of hiring movers again. They are wrong. I am vacating my unit and filing formal complaints with the Florida Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division and the BBB for deceptive pricing practices.
