OLD-SCHOOL CRAFTSMANSHIP: Once in a while you find a gem of a shop and you want to tell others about it. Hands On Bicycle is such a shop. I was riding in Eagle Lake Park, waiting at a stoplight on Keene, and another pair of riders gave me an unsolicited testimonial about this shop. Lo and behold, a day or two later I blew a tire. So I took it in. "Bullet" took me in immediately, had all the bits and pieces needed for repairs, and got me back on the road in a jiffy. Some repair shops will convince you to do preventive maintenance (or some work or another) 'just in case.' Bullet's motto seems to be "it if ain't broke, why fix it?" I had a notion have done some additional things and he convinced me (with logic and sound reasoning) why it wasn't needed. He was bluntly honest, skilled, knowledgeable and very reasonably priced. I found this bike repair shop on Google search. I was very impressed with the reviews. In the past I had always taken my bike to a very popular bike shop that I had purchased it from. The last tune up cost me almost 300 dollars. Yes, you read right. It wasn't even done correctly and my breaks still didn't work. I thought I would give Hands On a shot after reading the reviews. Hands On was like it used to be in the old days. Bullet, the owner, runs the small shop and does all the repairs. He is a very interesting character, in a good way. He is honest and fair. For my tune up and repairs, it came to 45.00. We tried to give him 60 and he refused to take the extra. He just loves what he does and he does it great. He only takes cash. Save yourself some money and take your bike to Bullet. You won't regret it!!! read more

We took the wife's bike in for two flat tires. Captain Bullet was quick to put two new tires on and entertaining with some of his stories as a boat captain. We did not know it was cash only and we did not have the full amount. He said don't worry about it. We drove to our bank to get the balance. We went back to pay up and I had to ask how he got the name Captain Bullet. I might just go back for more stories. I told him we would give him a great review. As most everyone else did. He said one lady gave him a bad review for not buying his daughter a bike. He laughed and said he did not even have a daughter. My guess is Stephanie A. got the wrong bike shop. I googled for a bike repair shop in Clearwater and go Hand On Bikes right at the top so I called and talked to a man who said to come right on down and he would fix my bike. I got there and met Bullet. He handled my bike for me and charged a reasonable rate. I didn't know it was cash only so I have to go back to pay and I will bring him an ice cold soda too. He is one of a kind. A wizard at troubleshooting and fixing bikes. I will never take my bike any place else. Loves the stories of his years as a business owner, a captain... it's as if he has 9 lives and can talk about 7 of them. read more

Do not go anywhere else! As snowbirds, we had a simple basic bike with a noisy rear axle. Bullet checked it out for us and gave us good advice. "Don't worry about it - it's an old bike and will be a bit noisy but will not leave you stranded - got lots of miles on it yet". That's all we needed to hear and he sent us on our way. This shop was amazing! I ordered a bicycle from amazon for my boyfriends birthday. The chain was stuck and it was a frustrating start to his special day. I've been going to Hands on Bicycle for years now and the Master mechanic has always been able to figure out what is wrong with my bike and present a workable solution. I've had several bikes from different brands and Bullet knows them all. If he doesn't have the part, he can get it or refer me to where I can get it. No problem has ever stumped Bullet. read more

Great Little Shop / Big Selection Went in looking for 700c Tires and they have an incredible selection. Friendly helpful staff. They pack a ton of parts and accessories in a relatively small area. This is a great advantage over similar shops that tend to dedicate their whole are to purchasing a brand new bike. Will always return when I need something! read more
