I judge a restaurant based on the amount of exposed brick they have on the inside. This place has tons of it. Very nice decor. Very old school yet modern. The appetizers were fantastic. We got the loaded hush puppies and the lobster crab dip. For the entrées we had pasta, French onion burger, and a chicken sandwich. The pasta and the chicken sandwich were excellent, but the burger was just average. Our server was great and the food came out super quick. Definitely a spot we will return to!

It is homey, but new and clean. We had a seat in the back by a big fire place. The service was fast, effective, and friendly. Kenzie did a great job taking care of us. We started out with calamari. It was good, but not much different from other calamari I have had. It came with a mayo based sauce as well as a sweet Thai chili. My wife had the Shroomer, which was a portabella based burger. She really enjoyed it. I had the walleye. It was on a bed of risotto with broccoli and mushrooms. The walleye was blackened. It was a delicious dish. It was listed as "Riverfish" meal on the menu Overall, a fun night with really good food.

It's a type of duplex with a restaurant on one side and a (smokey) bar on the other. The two establishments share a kitchen, staff, and an interior hallway. There is metered parking on the street. It is very inexpensive, but the meters are coin-operated only. Do be sure to take cash. I didn't realize this was a cash only place until we were already eating our ordered meals. When the bill came, I had just enough cash to cover the total, so I ended up using the ATM in the attached bar to get money for a tip -- it cost me $6 in fees! If I had known the establishment was cash only, we would have skipped the drinks and fries and had enough for a tip. (Looking back, I also could have not given any tip, driven to a bank or fee-free ATM to get cash, and driven back to deliver an even bigger tip for less than it cost to use the ATM there. Ugh.) But, you are reading this review, so you will know to go to your meal with coins for the parking meters, and some cash for your food and a tip! We visited on a quiet afternoon, and were pleased with our food and service. The fries could have used a bit more salt, but it's easier to add your own salt than to try to remove it. When we arrived, my son saw our table preset with coffee mugs, and requested his apple juice in a mug. Our server happily served it to him that way, and laughed with him as he pretended it was hot tea. The other server was helpful with the menu, and made sure we knew what our food would be. (We hadn't, so this was very appreciated!) The tables were also set with clever paper advertising place mats which had a word search for kids and adults. Overall, this was a nice place to eat, and I wouldn't mind returning.

It is great to have a place that serves upscale food but isn't stuffy and pretentious. Service is always friendly and efficient. I love that they have a rotating seasonal menu. It is on the higher end price wise, but you get what you pay for. And that means nice portions, quality ingredients and excellent taste. If you are looking for a place for a great date night or a special occasion, this is a perfect place.

Got a Pinot noir wine and waters Starter=soup of the day: tomato w/ chickpea and chorizo- bold tomato flavor and lots of arugula in it. Not so much chorio but flavor was very good, not overly salty. 10/10 After the soup we put our nit-picking goggles on as we knew this was a pretty sophisticated meal. Daily special- pan seared mahi mahi with asparagus fennel kohlabi and arugula salad citrus buerre Blanc. Light citrus flavor is found thru the mahi mahi, its sauce and the salad. Very congruent. Asparagus was a neutral addition. Not flowing with or against the mahi. Fish was cooked well. Just lots of raw red onion on the salad was a little overpowering. 7/10 Red wine braised short rib- didn't ask how well done, so seems chefs choice. We have a preference towards med rare. This was cooked well done making it a tad tough-stringy. Mashed potatoes with some larger pieces of potato, but very neutral plain flavor, great with the beef sauce. Carrots cooked well, just neutral, natural flavor. Overall a very classic flavor combo that works.7/10. Would stop by again to try more dishes. Ps- when paying we noticed final bill to sign was more than first bill at table. When we asked why the difference we were told it's the credit card fee of $3. This was really the first time I've seen this at a restaurant, yet alone at a decent place like one. Would have been best for them to tell us this upfront.
