A Hidden Mom-and-Pop Ramen Gem Worth Finding!…read more I've driven past this little plaza countless times, never realizing that tucked inside was this small, humble mom-and-pop joint. But boy, once you get your hands on a bowl of their tummy-warming ramen, you won't regret stopping by! Just thinking about it has me salivating all over again. And here's the cherry on top: they surprise you with a complimentary side of goodies! We're talking waffle fries, fried pickles, veggie egg rolls, red bean-filled sesame balls, or popcorn chicken. Hold that thought, because we're definitely coming back to those sesame balls in a bit. OMG, this sweet gesture alone deserves some love! How to order: They have a self-service kiosk if you prefer to place your order yourself, which is what we ended up doing. Or you can order directly from the owner-chef, if I'm not mistaken. Then, grab yourself a seat and wait for the goodness to arrive! What We've Tried So Far: Tonkotsu Ramen (Red) - Spicy OH. MY. GOODNESS. This bowl brings a beautiful kick of spice that slaps the back of your throat in the best possible way! It's that wake-me-up heat that lets you savor the rich pork-bone broth while giving your taste buds a little thrill. And the chili oil on the side? WOW. You can really taste that homemade goodness, and it's downright addictive! I also LOVE their curly noodles. I'm just not a straight-noodle person when it comes to ramen, and these noodles hit the spot. The thin-to-medium cut makes them so satisfying to slurp up with that flavorful broth. If you love spicy ramen, this is a MUST-TRY! Tonkotsu Ramen (White) - Original Yum, yum, yum! If you love the Red but aren't into the heat, the White delivers that same comforting, satisfying ramen experience without the spiciness. A great choice for those who want to enjoy the pork bone broth in all its glory. Tonkotsu Ramen (Black) - Black Garlic Black garlic lovers, this one's for you! If that deep, savory black garlic flavor is your thing, you'll want to give this bowl a try. Now, Let's talk about those complimentary sides! One thing I absolutely LOVE about this little mom-and-pop joint is their thoughtful gesture of surprising customers with complimentary sides. And guess what? The selection was different on our two visits! Extra First Visit: Waffle fries, fried pickles, a veggie eggroll, and those heavenly red bean-filled sesame balls. Second Visit: Waffle fries, a veggie eggroll, sesame balls, AND popcorn chicken! The fried pickles were swapped out, but hey, they added popcorn chicken instead. Not a bad deal at all! Fried Pickles - My first time trying these, and I'm glad they only gave us a few! That crispy, tangy, salty combination can get dangerously addictive. Who knew pickles could be this fun? DRUM ROLL, PLEASE... RED BEAN SESAME BALLS! OMG. These little babies deserve their own spotlight! They're so light, the filling is delicious, and the mochi has just the right amount of chew. That delicate, chewy texture is everything! Here's my advice: ORDER AN EXTRA SIDE TO GO. Seriously, you won't regret it! How sweet is it for a small mom-and-pop shop to offer these little extras? It's such a thoughtful gesture that makes the whole dining experience feel extra special.

The authentic Japanese style food prepared in the Japanese tradition. The flavors of the orient were unparalleled. I was not sure if I was going to find any other restaurant that would compare. Then today, I can proudly say Kaisen don did it. I ordered unagi don, fried salmon head, my husband order chicken teriyaki with miso soup. It was served hot and well prepared. The presentation was excellent and visually inviting. The server was polite and attentive in the traditional Japanese style making us feel very welcomed. The soft Japanese rendition of American jazz playing softly in the background was perfect to set an ambiance of perfection in our dining experience. I most assuredly will dine there again and recommend it to anyone who enjoys great Japanese food and at affordable prices. If you are entertaining guests or are on a date night, choose kaisen don.

First of all- the miso soup had NOODLES ? I've never experienced that before. It was filled with thin wheat noodles, mushrooms and carrots. I didn't care for it. The spicy tuna roll was just okay, just a very small portion. The salted mackerel dish was pretty good, but the rice was super bland, not the traditional sushi rice I love. This place wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. I wouldn't visit again, nor would I order it for delivery.

I ordered the salmon don and some lamb skewers. There is a 3-skewer minimum, which was totally fine because it's hard to stop at just one anyway. The salmon don was fresh and delicious, and the lamb skewers were super flavorful. Prices were pretty reasonable too, especially considering the variety. The atmosphere is casual and laid-back with cute Japanese-inspired decor throughout. Service was friendly as well! Definitely a great late-night find, and I'd come back to try more of the menu next time I'm in the area!

We got there around 7pm on a Friday. It was busy but we got sat pretty quickly. We ordered 2 miso soups, tofu, fatty combo sashimi, and 2 rolls. After about 30-45 min, we received our tea, miso soups, and the tofu appetizer. After about an hour, we got our sashimi. And after sitting for another 30 min, we decided it was time to cancel the rest and get our check. All the other tables were getting their food and we were just sitting there waiting. Waiting that long for food is unacceptable. And after all that, all we got was a sorry and "here's a 10% discount card for next time." I don't think there will be a next time.

One thing I really appreciate is that the staff actually remembers my preferences every time I come in. That kind of personal service makes such a difference and really keeps me coming back. The 16-Piece Sashimi is definitely my favorite. The fish is always super fresh, and the portions are surprisingly generous. With how expensive everything has gotten in the Bay Area, I really appreciate finding a place where you still feel like you're getting good quality and a good amount of food for what you're paying. That's honestly one of the biggest reasons I've stayed loyal to this restaurant. My second favorite is the Oh Fish Roll. The combination of fresh fish and those crispy tempura bits is SO good. You get the freshness of the fish along with that crunchy texture, and somehow it all just works perfectly together. I've been to plenty of sushi restaurants, but this is one of those places where I genuinely look forward to coming back. The food is consistently good, the portions are generous, and the staff makes you feel remembered rather than just being another customer. Definitely one of my go-to spots in the Bay Area. If you haven't tried it yet, I'd absolutely recommend giving it a shot -- especially the 16-piece sashimi and the Oh Fish Roll. I'll definitely be back!
