I wanted to love this place and based on the reviews, my expectations were high. Don't get me wrong, the ambiance was fine and the staff were OK. If we needed something, it wasn't difficult to get someone's attention. For me, it was really about the food, and it just wasn't comparable to what I've had being from San Diego. Overall, what I ordered was average. I ordered the Moon River roll and one spicy scallop hand roll. I didn't enjoy that the scallop in the hand roll was cooked; I've never had it prepared that way before. I guess I should have asked how it was prepared prior to ordering. It also lacked spice, but I did appreciate the sesame flavor and the freshly chopped spices added to it. The rice, however, was nicely prepared. Also, I did get a free Salmon Kama for checking-in on Yelp. I don't think I'd return to this spot, but I wouldn't discourage others from trying it. read more

Me and my husband love Hana sushi. Our favorite roll is is oishii roll. It's so fresh and bursting with flavor and texture. We also like the ginami roll, definitely recommend if you like salmon. I normally go for AYCE sushi, but had lunch here with family while shopping. The rolls are typical of what you'd expect at any other sushi place. The sushi was at a good temperature, so no worries about getting food poisoning. There weren't too many customers; however, our server, who was nice, wasn't that attentive. We had wish he'd stop by often because we needed a few things. Our server forgot about one of the items we ordered, and when we reminded him, we were already finished eating and ready to leave. We were looking for a casual Shawarma spot and were recommended to try this place. From their entrees menu (served with rice, 1 dip, and 1 thin pita), we ordered their 'Chicken Shawarma' with 'Mediterranean salad' and 'Baba Ghanoush' dip, and the 'Kafta Kabob' with 'Fattoush salad' and 'hummus'. Both plates were super good and satisfying. The chicken was packed with flavor, but not overwhelming. The Kafta (minced beef) was seasoned to perfection. We also ordered a couple of 'Baklavas' to go. It has a generous walnut filling and is easily some of the best baklava I've ever had. Service was relaxed since they prepare your meal on the spot. They also have a catering menu. Overall, it was a good lunch experience here and will definitely return to try more of their menu.

It is the staff that that make you feel welcome. One person in particular is Wendy. From a personable welcoming smile and acknowledgement to taking your order, she truly makes you feel welcome. With a background in food service, she is a rarity. You never see her still. I can't remember a time when she isn't busy. Be it from the initial contact, to cleaning up the plates and floor to interacting with customers, Wendy is there and is a plus to Panaea. Hopefully management sees her value to the company and rewards her. In today's time that could mean a forty-hour week with benefits, career advancement, pay increase or at least a recognition of her value to Panera.
