I wanted to love this place and based on the reviews, my expectations were high. Don't get me wrong, the ambiance was fine and the staff were OK. If we needed something, it wasn't difficult to get someone's attention. For me, it was really about the food, and it just wasn't comparable to what I've had being from San Diego. Overall, what I ordered was average. I ordered the Moon River roll and one spicy scallop hand roll. I didn't enjoy that the scallop in the hand roll was cooked; I've never had it prepared that way before. I guess I should have asked how it was prepared prior to ordering. It also lacked spice, but I did appreciate the sesame flavor and the freshly chopped spices added to it. The rice, however, was nicely prepared. Also, I did get a free Salmon Kama for checking-in on Yelp. I don't think I'd return to this spot, but I wouldn't discourage others from trying it. read more

Me and my husband love Hana sushi. Our favorite roll is is oishii roll. It's so fresh and bursting with flavor and texture. We also like the ginami roll, definitely recommend if you like salmon. I also suggest the halibut! It's a treat! All the rolls we have tried are super delicious and fresh. I've never had a "fishy" taste from anything. Been ordering from this location for a few years now, called in an order today and the hostess insisted that I give her my credit card number over the phone and I said WHY. she stated that the phone number that you have been using for over 3 years has no history with us so you have to pay before you order, I thought this was totally crazy. I was less than 2 mins away at target daying that I will be there to pay in 15 mins once I check out because I can't give my credit card information over the phone. She called me back in 30 seconds and stated that she couldn't put my order in unless I give my credit card info over the phone. I had to leave my stuff at the checkout and come over to order in person before they even put my order into the kitchen. Had to wait 10 to 15 mins and then on my way back to Target to finish my shopping. The call in order service is suppose to be convenient and they totally inconvenienced me today and she then said NOW you have history so you won't have to do it next time, I said no worries there will not be a next time. In the world of stolen information I refuse to give my credit card information over the phone especially when I've been ordering from this location for years. Maybe they updated their system or something but this totally pissed me off and ruined my appetite. read more

We were there for an hour and the metal spoon and forks were never restocked. The service is abysmal. The staff except for the bartender do not know how to handle customers. I tried to order an alcoholic drink and got declined for "looking young". I'm well beyond the age of 21 and I showed them my ID. Why would anyone ever bring a fake ID to drink at a Bushfire Kitchen in Menifee? Christ. However, I'm mostly annoyed at how avoidant the staff was about it. I waited for my drink, followed up, then they sheepishly explained to me that they "just can't give me the drink because I seem a bit young". That's fine. Just stop avoiding it. It's also not lost on me that a big factor of that is probably because of my ethnicity. On top of that, I had to inquire if they had an ID scanner and they said no. I had to ask for the receipt myself of them refunding it (allegedly) so at least I could make sure that I was given my money back for the drink they declined me. Wouldn't recommend this place at all. Avoid.

the sushi is good but it seems like the staff is very careless. we used to love coming here. I don't know if it's under new ownership or what but everything seems different. we had to ask a few times for certain sauces, and we ordered dinner online and they gave us an open bottle of wine that was wrapped in a plastic bag. my husband didn't notice it was open until we got home and didn't wanna drive another 20 minutes back to grab another one when we had a busy day and just were hungry. when we called for a refund they refused and kept saying that they would have to talk to the manager who apparently wasn't there. my husband could've been arrested for the situation that they put him in and we just wanted them to make it right and they refused. they did not call us back after we called them multiple times trying to figure out how to rectify the situation. read more

Absolutely incredible experience at Hana Sushi Menifee. The fish quality was honestly on another level. The salmon was so buttery and fresh it practically melted in my mouth, and the tuna was unlike any I've had at other sushi places -- even the color was noticeably richer and more vibrant. I asked the server about it, and they explained that they receive fresh fish daily and never freeze it. You can truly taste the difference. I Booked a party for the patio for 10 people we get there and are told the patio is closed. We express our frustration and the owner says fine I'll put you out there but we won't be turning the heaters on.. it was extremely cold out and we waited 20 min for a server. We left and took our business to Murrieta Hana who treated us like gold and were so happy to accommodate us. Never going back these people are a whole different level of rude and have ran this place into the ground with their nasty attitudes in the menifee location. Our server appeared very inexperienced and struggled with basic menu questions, orders, drinks, and customer service. Our sodas took about 10 minutes and were flat and overly syrupy. We were also told that if we were to order sushi, it could only be from the front page of a four page sushi menu. The seafood boil was extremely disappointing. The seasoning was overwhelmingly garlicky rather than the lemon-pepper flavor we requested. The shrimp were mushy, the crab legs were unusually small and difficult to open, and the sausage and other ingredients tasted old and overcooked. Service continued to be a major issue. We had to repeatedly ask for utensils, napkins, and crackers, but instead of getting what we asked for, we were handed scissors. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, yet we were frequently ignored while the server focused on phone and new walk-in orders. We also had to beg for basic items like water and butter. The lemon pepper seasoning we asked for were a couple lemon wedges with a teaspoon of salt and pepper in a small plastic to go container. The most concerning part was the restroom situation. The women's restroom was being worked on, so my fiancé was directed to use the men's restroom, where she nearly stepped in human waste on the floor. We quietly informed the staff, who seemed to address it, but the entire situation was extremely unsanitary. At the end, we waited again for our check and discovered we had been charged $5 for a small side of butter that had taken approximately 20 minutes to arrive. When we politely questioned the charge, the situation became uncomfortable, with the owner and another employee coming out to discuss it rather than simply resolving the issue. We remained respectful throughout the entire experience because we understand what it's like to work in the service industry. Unfortunately, the food, cleanliness, service, and overall experience were simply unacceptable. We even felt sick afterward.We have never left a zero tip before, but this was the first time we genuinely felt the service warranted it. Not sure if this place changed owners, but the reviews went from good to horrible, and we are not the only ones with bad food experiences. We are still paying for it, our stomachs have been sour from the food, into the next day, which ruined our Glen Ivy spa day for our anniversary. Do your mind and body and favor a don't not go! Sadly, we cannot recommend this restaurant. For us, it was less "Crab Island" and more "Crap Island."
