Have been curious since the previous establishment closed down suddenly and this new place reopened branding itself as Hong Kong Fusion and Gastropub. Essentially it's a rebranded Hong Kong Cafe. The interior is basically the same and the name of the previous establishment can still be found in the decor. You are handed 2 menus, one with more traditional HK cafe fare and another menu with items the fall the fusion category. Looking around most diners stuck with the HK cafe menu. Food and service were okay. Nothing extraordinary.

Han Tai Wan recently rebranded, and the food quality is really solid. The restaurant has a clean, modern atmosphere but still gives that cozy Hong Kong vibe. We tried the $79.99 set for two and were pleasantly surprised by how generous the portions were -- it comfortably fed three of us with leftovers. Great value. Highlights for me were the clay pot BBQ rice (nice smoky flavor), the tender lamb ribs, and the curry beef skewers. The risotto with crispy fish skin was unique and flavorful. The Hong Kong milk tea was smooth and well balanced. Service was friendly, and we were told they invited a new chef from a Michelin restaurant, which likely explains the elevated flavors. Overall, a great option in North York for authentic Hong Kong cuisine, especially if you're sharing with family or friends.

Han Tai Wan (formerly Good Luck HK Cafe) has a wide variety of dishes, especially since rebranding. I ordered the eel bowl with other meats (Chinese sausages) and the eel was delicious. The food was filling and was served in a hot bowl. The food is served quickly and one of the employees also came and explained the rebrand after we questioned it. The decorations are quite cute and add a nice touch, especially the lit-up sign that says "Good Luck HK Cafe." I would come here again to try their other menu items.

Yum their foods were so tasty. The bolognese spaghetti was a hit. Their Portuguese rice was packed with flavor. The flavor was authentic. Would def order again when visiting Toronto!

Han Tai Wan is North York's hottest HK Fusion Café & Gastro Pub! Brought to you by the incredible team behind Good Luck HK Cafe, they have rebranded to Han Tai Wan and introduced an elevated menu created by their Chef with a Michelin Star restaurant experience. They still serve your HK Cafe favourites, and now you can also enjoy local craft beers to perfectly complement your meal! We had the following dishes from their elevated menu: Stone Pot 'Sorrow Romance' Rice, Smoked Satay Skewers, Soft Shell Crab in Tomato Rice Noodle Soup in Stone Pot, Han Tai Wan Signature Golden Crispy Prawns, Cha Chaan Teng Ovaltine Pudding, Chocolate Tiramisu Pineapple Bun, Bear Milk Tea and Bear Lemon Tea. Everything was excellent from appetizers, main dishes and desserts. Their cute drinks also didn't disappoint. The restaurant has a pretty decor, a relaxed atmosphere and their staff members are friendly. The restaurant is just a walking distance to the Finch Subway station.

Come back to Han Tai Wan after their rebranding and was pleasantly surprised. The new fusion menu has some interesting dishes, we especially liked the stone pot BBQ rice. Flavours were good and portions were decent. Service was friendly and the overall vibe is nicer than before. A solid spot for a casual meal, and worth trying if you're in the area.

You'll find many remnants of the previous Good Luck HK Cafe here. If you're a regular, you'll find you're still in a familiar place. With this rebrand, most previous menu items remain, with a few new additions. The staff are super friendly. The new menu items have creative names, with an interesting story to it! They explained that their new specialty is Stone Pot Rice. But I opted for my favourite, the classic Baked Tomato Sauce Pork Chop rice. Compared to the excessive Google 5-star reviews, I did find a few flaws during my visit. My sauce was watery. The rice was undercooked. The milk tea was bitter and came in a small cup. "HK portions". For $18, this won't do and I feel there are better alternatives around. But, with the new changeover, I'm sure they're still ironing out the wrinkles. The staff came over asking for feedback, so I let them know.. The pork cutlet was great though! Looking around me, they have many aesthetic items I'd like to try, so I will be back again one day. I love the constant HK vibes nestled in this cafe. Really happy they maintained a HK cafe here for all to enjoy.

I'm not a bad carb person so I can barely make a dent in their rice/noodle dishes for lunch. So I was happy to see non-rice/noodles based dishes that is served all day and not just tea time. I ordered the yuzu chicken steak with potato salad. It comes with a drink and soup. The chicken steak was deep fried, with liminal batter and the met remains juicy. The yuzu sauce was spread on top. First time seeing chicken + yuzu at a cha cheng teng. What took me by surprised was the potato salad. It was definitely made in house, with chunks of apples, carrots, red onion, ham and eggs. Love how it was also not dose in miracle whip. I chose the Chinese soup (instead of western style) and it was flavorful. I would said better than most Chinese restaurants who gives for complimentary soup for dinner. There was minimal MSG, as I didn't feel thirsty afterwards. The HK milk tea was the weaker component of this set, the tea base was lacking in flavour and didnt have the "thick" texture to it.

The taste of the food is pretty much spot on to the other locations, and very classic cha chaan teng foods. Service here is really good actually! They are super attentive and are sure to repeat your order so they have it right. They come to refill your water quickly and often as well. The place isn't very busy most of the time, so it's usually pretty easy to get a seat.

I feel some restaurants tend to use pork that is not fresh for this dish to save a few bucks, particularly, because they thought the tomato sauce could cover up that taste. I decided to give it a shot at Cha Kee because I just really wanted to have it today, and damn, I've got to say I was extremely impressed by the baked pork chop on rice here. It was perhaps one of the best I've ever tasted in recent years, after visiting countless HK tea restaurants. The tomato sauce itself is perfect - sour and sweet in the best way possible. The pork chop? Excellent. Not only is it super fresh (unlike how it is sometimes served in other Hk tea restaurants), but the texture, the cut and the flavours are all perfect. The uniquely juicy thick cut was nicely coated in panko and cooked to crispy perfection. Every bite is a satisfying, pleasant surprise. While it is not the cheapest in town, it comes with a free drink (and the ice drink is the same price!) I will definitely come back often.

So thick, fresh ingredients, and stuffed with awesomeness in between the breads. Milk tea was silky smooth and hot too. A truly 10/10 execution in an authentic HK café (CCT) style. Second time went there was run buy a few teens or perhaps uni students. Missed orders with eternal waiting after talking with them.
