First, April is amazing. Now, we've stayed in Santee before, we're very happy with changing hotels to the Hampton Inn. Bottom line, Santee is a horrible city, if you have to stop, make a reservation at the Hampton Inn. The ladies at night are just so sweet. read more

Older hotel that was in the middle of a renovation when we arrived. Cranes, workers and debris everywhere, both inside and outside of the hotel. Would have been nice if Hilton website had warned us when I made the reservation. The place needs the reno, but customers should not have to live through it. $130 for what is in reality about a $70 room. Close to the interstate and many restaurants. Easy check in and pleasant staff. Rooms are large. read more

I haven't read the reviews that have made this less than a 5 star location, but I will say we stop at only this location on our way North every year, so 2 times a year. It only gets better. Employees are great especially the older woman at the morning buffet who greeted us with the most beautiful smile. Super clean and have nothing bad to report. Brava! read more

Very clean, remodeled hotel. I absolutely loved my stay. Free breakfast was available at the time of my stay. Very clean and they suggest the use of gloves for the buffet breakfast. Free parking was very helpful because we were traveling with a 30 foot boat and we were able to park the truck with the boat without an issue. The bedding was comfortable as well. Comfortable clean soft beds. All the staff are so friendly and professional. Lots of sanitation gloves and gels everywhere. Breakfast buffet is pretty basic, but good enough. My only small complaint, which can't be done much about, is that while it's great that the toilets have such strong flushes, you can hear every flush from the rooms around you, in addition to other loud machinery kick on and off constantly. Hotel is a bit dated. But overall a wonderful overnight stay. Will stay here again. read more

The desk manager was so polite in that when I reserved a room, I had requested second floor only, only to find out one wasn't available. She was kind enough to upgrade us to a second floor suite (at no additional charge) when only first floor rooms were available. The breakfast was awesome and had many things to choose from . We stopped here and the hotel is being renovated. We were put in one of the updated rooms on the 3rd floor. The room was large. The layout is a little strange with a lot of wasted space, they could have put a huge tub in there, or a bigger shower. The shower is weirdly narrow. That wasted empty space in the room could have allowed for more room in the shower. The staff was very friendly. There were lots of clean towels, the room was spotless, and wipes were provided so I could wipe down anything else I wanted to. Love the Neutrogena products. Unfortunately, one of the new light fixtures fell off the ceiling and hit RJ in the head. Thank goodness it was plastic and not glass. But it was still pretty heavy and pieces shattered when it hit his head. The front desk gave him a gift card to Starbucks which was nice but that should not have happened. We made sure to stay away from the other one in case that came crashing down too. I'm glad it wasn't over the bed. In the morning we got a bag breakfast which included bagels, muffins and sausage biscuits with water and coffee, so that helped us get back on the road quickly. Pretty good experience. We were heading north, from Florida to Virginia, on 95, and this is where we stopped for the night. In the grand scheme of things I'd normally go 3-stars on the review, as it was A-OK, in an average way. But what got the extra star was the friendly staff, hot coffee was always available, and there were free cookies in the evening. Yum. OK location too. We have eaten at the Captains Quarters, across the street (Old Number 6). And it's OK. You can find my review there if interested. For evening cocktails we often hit the Clark's Inn and Restaurant, on the west side of 95. I have a review for Clark's too. I still would like to eat there someday. The bar there has a very cool old-school vibe. Bottom line: Just a spot to spend the night. read more

Super conveniently located right off the highway if you're heading north or heading south. Lots of restaurants around. The hotel is super clean modern. I chose the sleeper sofa king size room and there is so much space in here. It's awesome. Check in was quick and efficient. And it is quiet which is the most important thing after you drove 500 miles in a day in the morning I can have breakfast and hop right back on the highway and head up to Philadelphia. We like Santee and the Hampton Inn as an overnight stop on I-95 between Northern Virginia and the Orlando area. Rooms are very comfortable and clean with two queen beds. Room amenities include a flat screen TV, microwave, refrigerator, hair dryer and coffee maker. Quiet. Complimentary hot breakfast. Ample parking. We've stayed at Hampton Inns all along the I 95 corridor and this is by far the nicest Hampton Inn of any we've stayed in. We checked in Thanksgiving evening and they were fully staffed. Desk clerk had our reservation ready, room was large and impeccable. Next morning the breakfast staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely make this one of our stop on our biannual trips north and back. read more

This location had everything I've come to expect from a Hampton Inn. The room was neat and clean and the staff was welcoming and friendly even at 10pm when we checked in. The breakfast bar was again what I've come to expect from this company. My daughter and first visited the breakfast area at 7am then again with my son at 830 and my husband at 9. The entire time I observed two ladies who worked the entire time to keep the breakfast area clean and fully stocked. One of them even greeted my daughter as I fought to open a box of cereal. read more

Just tried to make a reservation and was informed they will not allow a certified ESA in their motel. Apparently they are aware they are in violation and don't care. So any military who have served us and now have an ESA are not welcome at Hampton inn Santee. The Americans with Disabilities Act protects the rights of the disabled. The appearance and staff are great. The problem was that the duvet was extremely heavy and hot. The pillows were spongy and uncomfortable. I got very little sleep. The Hampton Inn & Suites has a brand. When mentioning the Hampton name, certain expectations coincide. When choosing a hotel for my family vacation I chose the Hampton with its 100% Hampton Guarantee: 1: Friendly Service Our service was not kind or pleasant. I was actually very shocked at how rude the woman checking us in was. I later discovered her name was Claudia after we continuously had issues with her racist behavior and unpleasant attitude. Her co-workers (other employees of your company) warned us that she "already doesn't like Minorities". She was impatient with the check in process. She rushed us to give our names, although we had several rooms under a shared family account. "Claudia" thought it was too much to leave a key at the front desk for a member of our party that didn't arrive yet. I was curious about the promoted Hilton Honors program because I am a Marriott Rewards member with a Silver status. She was unwilling to answer my questions, did not make eye contact, mumbled under her breath and "kissed her teeth". All of the information we gave felt burdensome to her... From our group information to the color of our vehicles. She brashly told us to keep our room keys away from our phones because they'd deactivate them and she was unwilling to be bombarded with requests for activating again. Claudia assumed a family member was not staying at the hotel and told her she couldn't use the hotel's cups. My family member told her was a guest and Claudia responded impolitely stating that she hadn't seen her previously. Claudia yelled at a member of our party when he asked about the snack area. His question was simple, "could he purchase the snacks with cash." She spoke over him and didn't listen to his question. She said the snacks weren't free and if he touched anything it would be charged to the room. He left the hotel and walked to a nearby gas station to purchase snacks that were readily available in the lobby because of her lack of responsiveness. Another member of our party was making a private phone call outside of the establishment when Claudia threatened to call the police on her for disturbing the peace. She was in fact, not disturbing the peace and within her right to make a phone call outside in a public area. Claudia then informed other hotel guests (not with our party) that she would be calling the police on my family member. The other guests asked her why and looked baffled on why this information was being shared with them. 2: Clean Rooms: one of our rooms was dirty behind the bathroom door. There was dust and dead spiders as if the room was not thoroughly cleaned or it was cleaned but the bathroom door had not been opened for a long time. 3: Comfortable Surroundings: the doors of the rooms do not close unless slammed. At the beginning of our stay, we often left our room door open because we were not informed of this issue with the doors. Being from out of the area, we asked a gentleman at the front desk about surrounding restaurants and places to eat. He told us that he was from New York himself, currently a resident of Eutawville and not very familiar with the area but he can confirm that there was "NOTHING in the area open except McDonalds." We specifically asked about Waffle House. He informed us that there was no Waffle House in the area. After stepping out of our comfort zone to explore without resources or information from our hotel, we found several places including the Waffle House. His information was misleading. I would assume there's a protocol for out of town guests, a list of resources or information that the front desk/employees would have prior knowledge of and be able to provide. I was looking forward to the hotel because of its reputation, name and facilities. I was unable to use the pool because I couldn't get the gate open and because of how I was previously treated I didn't want to ask for help. I will not stay at this hotel again. I will inform all others of how I was treated. We paid $1,345.51 (guest rooms and taxes total) to be disrespected. We didn't feel valued as customers. read more

This was our first time at this hotel and as it's in such a small town, we didn't expect much. However, this is one of the best hotels we've stayed at. The room had plenty of seating for our family of five so we didn't have to sit on the beds all the time. Unlike other hotels with concrete cushions, the couch was so comfortable, we didn't even pull it out. We just slept on it as it was. Our shower is low-sill which we loved but families with toddlers be aware rooms may not have tubs. It was extremely large and well lit with a high Waterpik shower head. We really appreciated the dispensed products, including lotion. There was an abundance of accessible electrical outlets and even 4 (!) USB ports. The breakfast was well stocked and had a variety of hot items. The lobby bathrooms were clean and elegant and the availability of feminine hygiene products was a nice touch. Therefore, we highly recommend this hotel. read more

We stopped at the Hampton Inn for some rest while on a long drive from New Jersey to Florida. Santee has a lot of restaurants and hotels, and the next 100 miles or so is a wasteland, so it's a recommended stop while on a long drive. The Hampton Inn is a bit more expensive than the other options, but it's a new looking, bright, clean hotel with nice rooms. And if you stay in a hotel with cruddy breakfast options you're going to blow $50 at Cracker Barrel anyway, so you might as well stay here. Hampton Inn's breakfast was great - eggs with ham, bacon, waffles, tons of cereal and pastry options. The rooms aren't huge but it was enough for us to rest up for the rest of the drive. read more

I am soo happy that we stayed here. We had a horrific stay in Dec. at our old go to Santee motel( that we had gone to for YEARS) and had to find a new place to stay. My brother stays here on his trips down from NH to FL and suggested that we give this hotel a try. I'm thrilled with this Hampton.The front desk was helpful and check in quick. The room had that lovely just cleaned smell. The beds are fabulous!!!!! Great nights sleep! The bathroom clean with good products..(that alone is a plus in my book). The breakfast was ample and as quick or long breakfast stop as you want it to be. Some people were grabbing their breakfasts to go. The coffee was great and they had to go cups so we took a cup along with a piece of fruit on the road with us. This hotel will now be our stop over hotel in Santee, and I will be suggesting that my friends who also drive the 95 NJ-Fl route to give it a try. read more

She could not have been nicer, and in the morning she was just as chipper and helpful. The room was very nice, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast especially good. Beware! I stayed one night on the first floor. This hotel is out dated. I was bitten by ants, and there were some crawling in the room. I must have killed at least 5. Was on a long road trip. Came in here around 11:30 pm - women with long dark hair had her head down on the table in the café area sleeping. I had to wake her up to get a room. She didn't bother to look just said we don't have any rooms and put her head back down. The parking lot was not full. I walked out. In the past I have always gone to Hampton Inns but no longer. I stayed at one in Roanoke Rapids and it was filthy. They have really gone down hill with there staff and hotels- what a shame. I will never go back to them. read more

This was the worst experience I have ever had traveling. My family and I came down here for our family reunion so we chose to stay here. This place was horrible they have bed bugs I woke up with bites all over my arm. My arm had swollen so bad that I could not even move it. My family and I were disgusted. They gave us another room where we found more bed bugs. We couldn't sleep for 24hours. The owner of the hotel and some staff members were rude to us and told us that we were the ones who brought the bed bugs. How insulting is that! We we lifted the bed to show the staff a bed bug came running from underneath the box spring. I would never choose to stay here ever again!!! read more

Checked in really late at night as we just couldn't drive further... Amazingly clean rooms with the happiest night staff I have ever seen. After such a long trip my back was killing me... The shower heads were massaging and exactly what I needed! Would def stay here again! read more
