The room felt private and comfortable, and I felt safe throughout my stay. The only slightly unusual aspect was a group of men who gathered in the parking lot in the evenings to drink. Very Disappointing Stay -- Not Up to Hampton Standards I travel extensively for work as a traveling clinic manager and stay in hotels on a regular basis. Hampton Inn is typically one of the brands I choose, which is why my two-week stay at the Hampton Inn in Ithaca was particularly disappointing. From the moment I arrived, the room did not feel clean. It smelled dirty and musty, there was pet food kibble left on the carpet in the corner, and the toilet was dirty. Unfortunately, housekeeping did not improve the situation during my stay. Although they came every other day, the toilet was never properly cleaned, the room was not vacuumed, and basic supplies such as toilet paper and tissues were not consistently replenished. The room also had an air-conditioning unit as well as an older wall unit. The older unit did not work and was extremely noisy. For a property that has supposedly been remodeled, the overall condition and upkeep of my room did not meet the standard I have come to expect from Hampton. I was also disappointed to find that I was being charged for parking every day. I have stayed at many Hampton properties and was surprised by the additional charge, especially considering the overall quality of the amenities. I did not use the pool or gym, and neither appeared particularly impressive. I ultimately parked across the way near the nail salon rather than continuing to pay for parking. I do want to recognize Emily, who assisted me when I checked out. She was very kind, listened to my concerns, and graciously waived the parking charges. I truly appreciated her customer service. Another frustrating issue involved the television. I was able to watch Fox News during the first four days of my stay, and then suddenly it became the only channel I could no longer access. Whatever the cause, it was frustrating enough that I ended up purchasing Sling so I could stream the news from my iPad. Unfortunately, the overall customer service also left a lot to be desired. Most of the staff did not come across as particularly friendly or welcoming. One interaction especially stood out: an employee with a vacuum cleaner and towels entered the elevator as I was trying to get on. Despite seeing that my hands were full with food and coffee, he went ahead of me and then exited the elevator ahead of me without offering any courtesy or even acknowledging me. It may sound like a small thing, but when you're staying somewhere for two weeks, those interactions contribute to the overall experience. As someone who travels constantly and frequently chooses Hampton Inn, I know what I normally experience from this brand. Unfortunately, this location fell well below those expectations. But the lobby restrooms were out of order, there were no laundry facilities, out room door scraped and made a horrendous noise, and worst of all, there was no grab bar in the shower. Very busy place with Cornell new students coming in and there were three wedding parties using the inn. But it worked well even with a full house. Location was perfect. We were out of the downtown and in and easy in and out road. Parking was a little tight, but there was a beauty shop closed on weekends so parking proved to be OK. Very good and reasonable place to stay. Just down the road were a number of shopping centers to include Wegman's, a wonderfully complete grocery, bakery and produce store with an eating area surrounded by hot and cold tables of buffet. Really fantastic. Rooms are standard for Hampton Inn and we had two queens. Room service was on point, complete, replenishing and thorough. They also hit the rooms early to our advantage. We could access our room right about lunch time. Breakfast was OK, missing only the creamed beef...one of my favorites. Fresh fruit, plenty of carbs with bread an pastries. Their standard hot table had their standard cheese omelettes and turkey sausage (uck!); but there were hard-boiled eggs, so I was relatively happy. Very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Newspapers were initially hard to find as they were on a shelf under the hallway coffee service. So after day one I had my newspaper choices. read more

Bed so-so, shower head great, breakfast was weak-waffle machine overcooks the waffles and the fruit is not even close to fresh. Heater in room was quirky-busted thermostat. The front desk people are excellent and that's a big plus. This has potential to be great if they'd serve fresh (not canned) fruit and bananas that are yellow and not green, and im sure they could fix the thermostat, but it's just OK as is. Doors are slamming all Night and all morning so that's a problem that probably isn't going away unless they install reverse tension springs on all the doors. read more

Before visiting Ithaca my fiancé and I had spent two previous days at the Hampton Inn in Geneseo, New York. That experience was fantastic - the pool and hot tub were open (even during Covid) hot breakfast was served, and the room was very clean. A few hours later we checked into the Hampton Inn in Ithaca -- what a total disappointment!! I was looking forward to the pool and hot tub. This location didn't have a hot tub and the pool was closed despite being open at the previous Hampton Inn only an hour and a half away. I suppose I can't fault them for this but this but in retrospect this was a minor inconvenience compared to the condition of the room. The room was filthy. We found a booger an some hair in the bed. The shower and bathtub were disgustingly stained all over. The knob in the shower fell off. The outlet extension on the end table between the two beds was covered in some kind of a sticky grime. The whole entire extension cord was sticky. Oh and the outlet didn't work either. The room was very noisy and you could hear the road if the TV wasn't on. The wonderful view was of a couple of auto body shops across the street. Some teenagers must've peeled off a gigantic promotional sticker in the elevator and not one worker cared enough to fix it. The jist of the story is that nobody seem to put a lot of effort into cleaning the room or keeping up with the upkeep of this hotel. We felt safe at the previous Hampton Inn but we wee were honestly concerned about our health in Ithaca. During a pandemic it's important to care, and it appeared that this location just didn't. read more

I would be rating this spot a tad higher if we had NOT been told upon arrival that the mattress replacement crew was going to be replacing mattresses starting at 8:00 in the morning the day AFTER our stay. Luckily, the delivery was delayed the next day and we were not woken up by a horde of folks going from room to room with new mattresses... there was a dumpster out back filled with old mattresses, BTW. I've never heard of a hotel doing a wholesale mattress replacement like this, which led us to worry about why they were replacing them all? Not sure if we slept on an old one or a new one. But it was comfy enough. I wouldn't exactly recommend the breakfast here... cause it's only virtue was the fact it was free for hotel guests. You're better off heading over to the State St. Diner for some real eats. read more

Awful experience! My personal belongings were stolen from my room. The manager a few days later said they used a key card to access what employees had entered my room found the employee and terminated her on the spot...saying" she froze up and wouldn't talk". After I checked out of the hotel, I reported it to corporate. The manager's story changed. Now she said she pulled cameras up and nothing was taken from my room and the girl was only in there cleaning. My room was not cleaned that day! I have witnesses and proof on my phone. The day we checked in my hotel room it still had clothes from the previous guest in the dresser and in the closet. Days later that is when the manager asked if she can go up and get the clothing and that is the same day my stuff went missing. This roadside hotel in Ithaca offers hugely comfortable beds, free wi-fi, free breakfast and free parking. It's walking distance from a few fast-food places and big-box stores, but for downtown and colleges you have to drive. Luckily our room faced away from busy Elmira Road (marked variously as NY Route 13, 34 and 96). The A/C was a bit noisy but could be switched off entirely. The room had a good work desk with a proper desk chair, even a wired ethernet port. Flat screen TV had proper hi-def signal. The bathrom had a phone on the wall next to the john, what's up with that? The current Hampton Inn marketing strategy makes a big splash about washing every scrap of bedding about every 15 minutes. Ok, maybe that's an exaggeration. The room looked perfectly clean to me. Breakfast had a large variety of food: cold and hot cereal, make-your-own waffles, danish and breads, pre-fab western omelets and fried potatoes, fruit, yogurt and more. Coffee was hot and brown and not bad, I'll cheerfully admit that I am picky about coffee. Hotel has a small pool and a tiny workout room (one treadmill, one elliptical machine). We paid $150 plus many taxes for the night which seemed a bit high given the location on a four-lane road right across from a wal-mart, but our stay was totally fine and we had no complaints, maybe that's worth a buck and a half. read more

What could be easily freshened in the bath has been, but the floors and tub are original. Location is nothing much, but fine if you're here to work and sleep. Food options very close. One stupid COVID-19 adaptation, no water for diamond members. And on a 90 degree day. Everywhere else is giving them. I understand about changing breakfast service and housekeeping and eliminating socials, but water? WARNING DO NOT STAY HERE! The Hampton Inn Ithaca was one fo the worst hotel experiences of my life. First of all, this place claims to be pet friendly, but they charged me a $100 non-refundable pet fee for my emotional support pet. You are also not allowed to leave your pet unattended in the room at any time. Doesn't seem very pet friendly to me. Furthermore, the rooms were disgusting. The bathrooms and surfaces had clearly not been cleaned and there was trash under the couch. We had them move us to a different room, but the new room was just as dirty. The pool was also closed, which was a bummer, but the hotel staff said not to use the jacuzzi either because the filters circulated fecal matter and they could not do anything about it. We tried to watch TV in our hotel room in the evening, but they do not provide Netflix or anything and the TV channels all were picking up a lot of static to the point where it was difficult to watch anything. The hotel is also supposed to offer free breakfast, which I guess they do if you consider a waffle maker and some sausages breakfast. The spread was severely lacking any substance or effort. The hotel staff also was not very friendly or helpful. We didn't have very high expectations for this hotel, but it still managed to disappoint. The Hampton Inn Ithaca basically ruined our weekend trip. The conditions were worse than most motels. Save your money and stay somewhere else! read more

I wish every hotel stay was so pleasant! I generally love Hampton Inns, and this was no exception. The one very small hiccup is that we asked for a single king-sized room and were placed in a room with two queens. But the rooms were spacious, clean and complete with microwave and fridge. Even though it was over the Thanksgiving holiday, staff was available and very accommodating. They were helpful in directing us to restaurants that would still be open and in suggesting the best hiking trails in the area. Breakfast was fabulous and included fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagels, waffles, eggs and sausage. There were warm cookies and snacks in the afternoon. And there's an indoor pool and a very serviceable weight/exercise room. Furthermore, we were there with two large dogs (German Shepherd and Lab) and there are few hotels that are so pleasant. We got no dirty looks and there were several other dogs among the guests. When you're in the city hiking for four days with two large dogs, you're just bound to make more mess in the rooms than the typical guest. But our suite was always thoroughly cleaned without complaint. Also very reasonably priced at just over $100 per night. I love this hotel. To the extent Hampton Inns are available in future, you can be sure that's where I'll be staying! Please note: You can't leave your pets unattended in the room. I know some hotels will let you leave them if they're crated (Sheraton Inn, for example). But this policy just makes sense to me. Last thing other guests need is the dog that barks all day long when you're gone, with no way to reach you or for management to handle the unknown pet. read more

I got to Ithaca by 1130 am by rental car. Was super tired from a red eye flight and drove over hoping I could check in early (check in typically at 3 pm). I wish I remembered their names. The dude at the counter was really kind to find me a room I could check in early to. He found one and he could tell I was tired and gave me the card with the perfect location: end of hallway last room top floor. My heaven and quiet isolation for sleep! Thanks...the dude with cute eyes who helped me. Got in, everything was beautiful, clean, and the duvet covers were heaven!!!!! Yelpers if you ever come here their covers are AMAZING. I can sleep in those allllll day with the 6 pillows they gave me and the pull out couch. Parking is in back and they do ask for make and model of car so they won't tow you away. Quiet, crisp air with a indoor pool and small gym. Toothbrush, paste, comb and shower cap must be asked at front desk if you forgot! Lovely shower and two soaps. Why can't I just live here? Stayed at this fairly nice Hampton for a night as I was flying out of Ithaca early the next morning. Location is 15 minutes to airport and close to shopping, restaurants, etc. Amenities include a small breakfast area, an indoor pool, and a small gym. The rooms were standard Hampton with a small couch and the microwave/fridge combo. This Hampton definitely gets the frequent traveler pass - would stay here again if I was in the area. Pro-tip: the parking in the back is close to elevator - a good thing to know if you're visiting during winter and don't want to drag your suitcase through an un-plowed parking lot. read more

Got charged twice for a single night stay. The general manager refused to refund the over charge of $99.46. Never returned phone calls, emails, etc. I have tried other avenues to get my refund and told it was really up to me to do the legwork as to trying to get my bank to get involved. For the $465 it cost for the room I would have expected the accommodations to be a lot nicer. There is a sign on the bathroom mirror that says they sanitize the room for our safety. I would dispute this since I found cobwebs that have been there for quite some time in the windows as well as children's fingerprints on the other window. it certainly doesn't appear like they're cleaning the rooms thoroughly. Also, for the three of us we received one towel each and not enough shampoo or conditioner to meet our needs for the one day that we were staying there. The colors of the room are very depressing and blah. The furniture looks like it came from IKEA and they put it together. By the elevator doors the carpeted was buckled up and needed to be stretched. Apparently there was a leak in the ceiling and instead of drywalling it they placed cardboard above it. I am sure these rooms are so overprice because they are relying on the people coming in from Cornell University in Ithaca college staying there. I would never stay there again. The price of the room should have been $89.00 in my opinion. It was a very sad experience especially for it being a Hampton Inn. I have pictures to substantiate my concerns. read more

Stopped into beautiful Ithaca as part of our Summer College Tour 2017. Hotel was 3-4 miles away from Cornell University. Area felt secure and clean. Receptionist was courteous and efficient and quickly checked us in. All was clean and in good condition. Choice of colors and decor is appealing throughout. I really enjoy the beverage bar near front desk. I even received a complimentary call a few hours in to check if all was okay. Nice touch! I enjoyed the pool which was kept at a slightly warm but comfortable temp. Everything was clean and it was well-attended to. It closed punctually at 10. There wasn't a hot tub there which would've been nice, but pool was great. Overall, very pleased with the Hampton Inn product. read more

Not helpful when you have a change in plans and try to reschedule your stay. I find that the majority of Hilton property's are very accommodating and they work very hard to be helpful. Hilton is my preferred hotel group to stay with I am on the road more than 150 nights a year. The Hampton Inn Ithaca has been the least helpful hotel that I have had to deal with. read more

We had an unplanned trip to Ithaca because our daughter who is a student at a local college had a medical emergency. We had all been up all night driving and in the hospital. We were completely exhausted when we arrived at the hotel and were desperate for sleep. We showed up at the hotel at 9:00am Sunday morning with no reservation. They had a room ready for us in under an hour. We were unsure how long we would stay and the front desk staff was completely accommodating and flexible. The info was passed along to each shift and every time I approached the desk they knew who I was and what our situation was. There were no charges for early arrival or late check out. We had made a reservation for two queen beds in summer 2015 so that my husband, son and I could visit Cornell. I called the morning of the day that we were supposed to arrive to tell them that we would be arriving late and not to give our room away. This was because I had read other reviews that the staff will reassign rooms. They assured me that they would save the room I ordered. We arrived as expected and our room was given away. We got a room with a king bed and a cot so my son was forced to sleep on the cot that had springs sticking out. No apologies from the staff. read more

Had a great pet friendly (large dog) stay here. I was worried about the fees for the pet and fees in general because it was parents weekend but there was no pet fee at all and fees were reasonable. The 1st floor double bed room was quiet, clean and spacious for the couple of nights we stayed. There's coffee available all the time and the breakfast had a lot of fresh options. Great nail salon literally steps away from the front entrance. Wish I could comment more on the indoor pool, looked relaxing, but I unfortunately left my swimsuit at home!
