I had the pleasant good luck to find a reliable and wonderfully peaceful place to stay that is away from the noise and hubbub of downtown Ithaca while still convenient to everything -- and I was astounded to find that not only was it was much more reasonably priced, it was more comfortable and far cleaner than many other locations I have stayed while visiting Ithaca. I had such a pleasant stay over the weekend that I returned for four more nights! For those who have complained about the price in the past, I can only say this: if you do not understand that certain events in the life of a college town drive the costs of all accommodations, then you need to take a lesson in economics -- it is the law of supply and demand. I found the prices to be very in line and an excellent value. Travellers should not expect the same rates for a room during graduation or other popular events as during the rest of the year. That said, this was still the unsung best deal in town during Cornell Days! The extremely kind and welcoming family who runs the Rodeway Inn & Suites have taken great pains to renovate: the spacious king room I stayed in was very roomy, tastefully decorated, immaculately clean, and featured all-new appliances (coffeemaker, microwave, small refrigerator, large flat-screen TV, ironing board/iron, hairdryer), furniture, and (very important for my weak lungs) what seemed to be all low-VOC furnishings. My lungs normally kick up a fuss when I stay in hotel rooms, but they were completely happy and non-reactive to this very clean, very new environment. (Other folks who have lung issues or chemical sensitivities will understand what I mean.) There is an outer hallway that requires a passkey to open & separates the room doors from the parking lot, keeping any parking noise or travel dirt out of the rooms, and adding an extra layer of security. I am a very picky hotel-goer, and I felt very at home here -- the bathroom was so immaculately clean, it almost made me feel inadequate as a housekeeper in my own home... :^D I really liked the pretty granite shower surround as well as the curved shower curtain rod that creates more space in the shower. Fluffy, very clean towels are plentifully supplied, and the usual supply of soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion are complemented by a shower cap -- super convenient not just for keeping a perm dry, but also if you are bathing little ones who do not like to get their ears wet! Speaking of little ones, there was plenty of room in my king room for parents who might need to set up a travel bassinet or crib next to the bed, and still have room to get in and out. Those who like a hot breakfast will be glad -- there were many hot choices in the well-stocked chafing dishes, including sausage, bacon, cheese omelets, and make-your-own waffles. I particularly enjoyed the fruit choices: apples, perfectly ripe bananas, and very delicious little clementine oranges -- the perfect size. Lipton tea in bags is available as well as coffee, and there is milk in the little refrigerator. There may have been other food as well, but I think you get the gist of it. The breakfast room is right off of the main reception area, and it is all very clean. The internet was reliable and fast, and the desk and desk chair in the room quite comfortable to work for long stretches. Outlets for charging your gadgets are plentiful, and the bulbs in the task and bedside lamps are sustainable LEDs, but still give plenty of light for reading and working. I am not certain, but I imagine the overhead lights were also LEDs -- hurrah! The bed was very cozy -- a pillowy top, but firm enough for this stomach-sleeper to drift away in supported comfort. I greatly appreciated the very clean sheets and the warm covers that actually stayed put on top of me, instead of slithering indecorously (and uselessly) to the floor as they do in in a couple of the super-expensive hotels I've stayed in... In the style of the modern platform, the bed is elevated, which lends a certain regal air to your sleeping and makes getting out of bed an easy event, rather than an undignified clamber to stand. Four pillows ensure that no one in the king bed will lack for comfort! The crowning glory for this nature-loving traveler was the little pond outside my window (room 130). Because it was just-spring, the lovely peepers sang all night long -- glorious! They sang me right to sleep. On my first visit, a pair of geese were visiting, but my second visit, I was amazed by the sight of a pair of LOONS as well as the geese!! I got so excited, I nearly fell over! I am guessing they were migrating, but since I don't know that much about loons, other than that they are usually pretty shy, I just felt lucky to have spotted them. In addition to the little pond, many of the windows overlook the fields leading up to a little hill -- very picturesque and peaceful, I thought, as I drifted off to sleep on my cloudlike bed, listening to the peepers... read more

So the 1st time we stayed here was before the renovation, we had a room with two double beds, both beds were equally comfortable! So my husband and I decided to sleep apart and have our own bed which was fun!! The bedding was super clean & crisp!! During the night some random lady who was also staying at the inn, who was intoxicated try to get into our room!! The owners took care of the situation in a nice matter and geared the lady to her correct room!! Other than that the inn was very welcoming... So we decided to give it a second chance again!! Very impressive the new breakfast area was very nice, made myself some yummy waffles!! Bacon & Ham was also tasty!! Our room this time had a king size bed!! which was brand new and our bedding was still spotless & crisp!! I was also able to make reservation for May, When my daughter graduates from Ithaca College, which was a huge relief,,the young lady at the reception desk was very pleasant and took her time explaining the rooms that where available..thanks Rodeway Inn!!! read more

I just checked in here and I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised. I was prepared for the worst, based on the bad reviews I had been reading on Yelp. My experience so far tells me that this place must have been massively renovated recently or that people are really picky. The front desk staff member was extremely helpful and friendly and upgraded us to a deluxe king room (we had just booked a regular). It was dark when we arrived, but the Rodeway Inn was easy to find and looked like a fine place to spend a couple of nights. The lobby looked fresh and the room was very clean and didn't have any weird hotel smells (room 101). The bed was comfortable and the room was very spacious. This is way nicer than some of the Super 8 type places I have stayed. Of course, this isn't a Westin and it isn't trying to be. It is an Inn/Motel so of course you would expect a one story, park-in-front-of-your-room type place. They have a clean bright hallway separating the rooms from the outside lot, which gives the feel of a little bit of extra security. Breakfast wasn't gourmet, but it was pretty good for being free and a $100 dollar a night hotel. They had cereal, muffins, bagels, waffles, omelets, ham, sausage, bacon and biscuits. Compared to the prices I was finding for Fairfield Inn & Suites and other area hotels, this is a great deal. I am very happy with this choice. read more

My friend and I stayed here for a long weekend from Wed to Sunday as a getaway trip from NYC. We decided to stay here because of the great reviews and were so thrilled we did because it was all around amazing! The hotel is in a great location about 10 min or less from downtown Ithaca. The room was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed (TV, , soap/shampoo, drawers, hangers, comfortable beds, and clean bathroom!) Since we were there on a Wednesday, we had a little trouble getting Ubers in the area so we called the hotel to ask for advice while out at a brewery and the hotel manager and his brother actually came and drove us to dinner in town and then picked us up! That was so unbelievably thoughtful of them and showed true hospitality. The hot breakfast was great and they also had a water bottle fill station in the lobby which is a always a plus especially after long hikes and bike rides. Travelled to Ithaca for a concert. Easy commute to Ithaca Commons from here. Pleasant and professional Rodeway Inn representative offered us a free upgrade to a suite upon arrival. The suite was clean and spacious. It was a little musty at first from being unoccupied, but running the air conditioning for a few minutes took care of that. Variety of breakfast foods offered including fresh fruit. We would definitely stay here again. read more

We only stayed here for one night but I have to say the hotel was super. It had recently been redone and they did a superb job with no shortcuts. The staff was very nice and accomodating. The breakfast was very nice including a wide variety of delicious foods. My only criticism was the price. I thought $133 for a night was a tad steep. But that aside I would stay here again. I was a little skeptical about staying in a motel, but this was surprisingly nice. I would've rated this motel 3 stars, but when I first arrived to the room, I smelled a strong mold scent and discovered it was the bathroom curtain. So I called front desk to request a new one. The answer, "yes, ma'am, no problem, we will be there right away." What?!?! Wow! Pleasantly surprised with the customer service. So I bumped my rating to 4 stars. We stayed here for Cornell move-in and the ability to move things in/out of our car to the room made everything so simple. No stairs, no elevators to deal with. Plenty of parking outside too. This location is very close to Bed Bath and Beyond and Walmart and has been recently renovated. Wi-fi is strong. Plenty of cable channels, quiet and beautiful view outside the window. Felt safe. I booked this place based on it's cheaper cost on Priceline. When my friends and I first saw it from the road, I looked at them and said "I'm sorry", as it does look a bit Bates Motel-esque from the road. Once you pull in though, you'll see that the front of the rooms are more updated and it's actually quite quaint. For the nicer days, they have a little picnic area with a gazebo (sadly, we didn't get to take advantage). I wouldn't really call this a hotel though, it's more of a motel as the doors to the rooms go right to the outside parking lot (as opposed to a indoor hallway). The lobby isn't much to write home about, but it does the trick. There's a "business center" which is basically a computer on a cart in the corner, but it does have a printer. The gentleman that checked me in was super friendly, and genuinely so, making conversation about our stay and offering help had we of needed it. We stayed in one of the suites that had the little porch overlooking the road. It was a good size for the 5 of us, with 2 queen beds and a pull out sofa. The room also had a microwave & fridge which was pretty convenient. The only thing I disliked about the room was the lack of lighting. There was only 1 small window which didn't make for much natural lighting. The room was clean though, and the shower worked well (really, what more does one need from a hotel). There was a continental breakfast, nothing too fancy. The usual cereal, bagels, coffee, etc, just enough to get you going for the day. If you're looking for luxury accommodations, this probably isn't the place for you. But, if you're looking for an affordable place to rest your head for a night it's a good choice. read more

We recently stayed here during my sons graduation from Cornell. It was a very mediocre accommodation and they completely ripped us off. The charge for each room was over $300 per night - we've paid less for better accommodations in Manhattan. It turns out their "normal" price is $100 or so but in order to bilk the parents of students who are searching for scarce rooms Ina small town with a big University they triple the price as a little welcome gift for parents who have already paid a fortune for college. The rooms smell musty tho the linens are clean. The free "breakfast" is atrocious with ancient bulk cereal: fruit loops and cheerios, bread, bagels that are obviously the cheap frozen ones, fake orange juice, .... You get the idea. I would strongly recommend against this place! read more

The room was very clean. We were moving our daughter into Cornell and we came up a couple of days before she could move into her dorm so the car was packed with stuff. The Rodeway was obviously originally a "motor inn" (they now have many of the room doors enclosed by an interior hallway, however). Because of its layout, we could back right up to the building right outside our door. This gave me a much better sense of security knowing we would hear the car alarm right away if it went off. Older building, but the bathrooms were nicely updated (we had 2 rooms). For it being move-in days, the rooms' size, cleanliness, and the hotel's location, we thought the $126/night we paid was reasonable. The downside to this hotel is it's so-called complimentary hot breakfast. It was disgusting. Microwaved cheesy eggs, paper-thin GREASY bacon, I didn't even bother looking at the "ham", a broken, barely usable, waffle maker, barely chilled yogurt, no hot water, just warm, so no oatmeal, stale fruit loops, and some bread, was offered. I found it inedible and went out to breakfast so I could have some decent protein for breakfast. So, don't factor in the fact that you won't need to buy breakfast when you stay here when trying to decide on a hotel that would be a "good deal". The breakfast notwithstanding, this is a decent place to stay and would consider staying at the Rodeway again. read more

I booked a suite here for a one night stay so we could rest after hiking. I picked the property due to the promising reviews and it's convenient location but was quite stunned to see the stark difference between what I expected and what I actually saw in person. My booking for a suite described 2 queen beds and 1 sofa bed however, when I got to the actual room, there was only 1 queen and 1 king bed only. Tired from the hike, we simply accepted the room as it was. I want to say that this was the only disappointment I got during my stay, however, that was not the case. The room appeared clean on the surface, however, as we discovered, the place was riddled with what looked like some kind of mold/mildew throughout, had huge flies flying around, and was a lot dirtier than expected or should be acceptable, especially given today's environment around COVID. For that same safety reason, we had packed our own supplies and am glad we did because the "amenities" supplied were laughable at best...one 2 oz conditioner and 1 coffee pack to supply a room of 4 adults?! I've attached pictures from what we found around the suite to supplement my statements. Luckily, we were only here for one night because I cannot imagine breathing the dusty, murky, and potentially mold-contained air can be any good for health. This place needs major work. I visited in January and the parking lot was a sheet of ice in some places as were the sidewalks. My door key didn't work the first time so I had to traipse back and forth twice to get my key properly activated-the ice didn't make this easier. Once i got in the room it was unclear if i would ever get it warm enough to inhabit. I just barely got the heat to the point the room wasn't freezing but the bathroom floor stayed very icy cold. The water in the shower was not hot either. Spend a little more money for a real hotel. This is a step up from camping. read more

While I understand that this is definitely not "Hilton", I still think the quality of this hotel is as horrible as the original review. The place seems to be upgraded recently. I stayed at the Rodeway Inn last weekend. I could not have been more satisfied. It was close to town, the price was right, and the staff could not have been more accommodating. Patrick (who seemed to always be there!) was extremely nice - he even came to my room to help when I was having a problem with my laptop. I was in a non smoking, no pets room, and it was delightful. Quiet, clean, free HBO, great AC and a very comfy bed. I would most definitely recommend this place to anyone, and I will absolutely stay there again when I need to return to Ithaca. Not sure why others have complained in the past, but as of July, 2011, I couldn't think of a complaint if I tried to! (I did not have the breakfast - I'm not up that early!). Housekeeping never bothered me when the sign was in the door, and they even let me have a late check out. If you need a clean, friendly, safe place to stay if you're in this area, I would most definitely advise Rodeway. And thank you Patrick for all your help! read more

It's important to distinguish that this is an Inn - NOT a hotel ! That being said, we had an overall solid experience here while staying for a Greek Peak Spartan Race. The facility is newly renovated and kept very clean. The included breakfast is pretty limited when it comes to fresh ingredients but again, this is an Inn and I was surprised there was even a free breakfast. Definitely at least worth the make your own waffles and fresh hot coffee. Front Desk was friendly, clear, and helpful. Would definitely stay again. The walls tend to be a little thin so you can hear the closing of doors. read more

Awesome for the price. The main building was demolished and rebuilt from the ground up a few years ago. Everything is new and clean. The bed was comfy and pillows were not usual pancake crap. The HVAC system is silent. The food was substantial for a quick breakfast. The lobby coffee was surprisingly good. Patrick, the owner is very nice and takes pride in his establishment. I stayed in a single room for three nights, and it was the worst hotel experience of my life. The room was small, with dark blue paint that made it dark 24/7 and even more claustrophobic. The bathroom was miniscule, with a shower stall about the size of a phone booth. The staff was utterly unhelpful - they do not keep batteries in their smoke detectors, causing them to beep at 2 minute intervals. When I asked for assistance, the man at the front desk told me to come back at 4, which turned out to be after his shift was over. The second person at the front desk was unwilling to even check, so I had to unplug the smoke detector to sleep that night. To add to this legally dubious issue, when I came back the next evening the smoke detector was removed by housekeeping and no replacement was given - pushing legal dubiousness to outright violation of the fire code. The front desk's response to "could you please call me a cab for tomkins airport?" was a wordless gesture towards a disorganized rack of business cards. A further example of their lack of respect for customers: the comforter in the room when I arrived smelled strongly of urine. When I asked for a replacement, the staff gruffly accepted, without any apology for the unacceptable sanitation. The second comforter smelled faintly like urine in one corner, so I was forced to arrange my posture to avoid whiffing uric acid all night. I doubt they wash their bedding with any frequency. Speaking of posture, I experienced miserable upper back and shoulder pain after three nights on one of their beds. Housekeeping places "Sanitized for your safety" tape around toilets after cleaning, which is not only superfluous but wasteful. Beyond that, housekeeping was acceptable. read more

This was a decent hotel. I arrived here sometime after midnight, when everything was pretty much closed. The service was fast and polite, and the rate was very good. The room came with everything that I needed, a microwave, iron and board, wifi, etc. I wouldn't say it was the cleanest, but for the price, you got what you paid for. This hotel was absolutely great for the price. Let me start by saying the man who was always at the front desk to check us in was so kind and truly cared about our experience here. I've never experienced anyone so informative, helpful & caring. The place is newly renovated and was very modern. Great decorations, and everything was VERY clean! I felt very comfortable and at home here. The king bed and pillows were SO comfortable! I couldn't get out of bed in the mornings. In a great spot, 2 min drive to Buttermilk Falls, and Robert Treman state park. Just a short 7 min drive to downtown Ithaca, perfect distance away to keep it quiet and no traffic near. Our room was separated from the outdoors with a hallways that required a key to get in, which made me feel very safe. The AC units were very new and worked like a charm! Hot showers with a granite wall which looked really nice. 10/10 would recommend! read more

We stayed here this past weekend for my daughters graduation, what a gem! The place is very, very clean, in a great location and the price was right. I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect but I'm glad I read the reviews because they were spot on. Everyone was very pleasant and the breakfast was a great way to start the day. When we checked out, I told the man at the desk that I had stayed at a brand new spa & resort for Mother's Day weekend with my friends and the towels at the Rodeway were nicer than the spa. I'm wasn't kidding, they really are! The room is small but packed with everything you need and CLEAN!! I stayed here well doing a work function at Cornell U and wanted to stay somewhere close to town and cheap. This was not the place. First of all it is not close to town. It is down a lonely desolate part of Hwy 13 which runs you out of town in the other direction. It is a one floor motel on top of a hill (there are no suites to be found here). It looked like a horror movie spot like Friday the 13th or something. It had a tiny dirty lobby and it took forever for me to get the front desk person out to assist me. The clientle staying here were just as scary. Ithaca is filled with hotels and why I never shopped around was beyond me, but this place is cheap for a reason. The rooms are all door to the parking lot and are very small and musty/damp. The beds are old and rickety and the linens smell as well. The bathroom and the shower were badly in need of upgrading. The carpet was old and if they have redone this place it will be a definite improvement. If you are going to stay here, make it for one night and not the two I had to spend here. Do yourself a favor and do not even bother. It is scary! read more

Small room but hey its a rodeway at almost 1/3 the price for holiday inn hampton and marriot for one or 2 night stay to sleep in for 55 a night its a bargain. The room was clean with a coffee maker, fridge freezer and microwave and free breakfast. is it worth spending 139/night at the others? I dont think so read more
