A quick summary: Avoid this place! Dublin has much, much, better places to offer. At a better price too!
Based on reviews, me and my partner decided to stay here before flying out the next morning.
Went too the restaurant to eat at 7/8pm only to have music playing at full volume all throughout our meal. More and more people arrived, for what must have been a party. Many of the people attending seemed....Well, rough... Could instantly tell trouble was around the corner.
Back to the food part for now - Our waiter was unfriendly. I felt like anytime I tried to get his attention, he intentionally ignored me. When I did get his attention, he was very short with answers, and acted as if I had just insulted him. Very rude. Our order was also wrong, but I would pin that on the outrageously loud music and not him.
The hotel itself is well decorated, but a bit grubby and unprofessional in places.
Our room was OK. But the big problem, was the noise. We decided to go to bed around 12pm-1am as we needed to be up and gone for 8am - That didn't happen....
I could fell the bass in my feet as I walked around the room! I could hear the music clear as day. I could hear the crowds of people screaming and shouting.
This went on and on for what seemed like forever. Eventually though, the music stopped, and I managed to get some shut eye.
Only, it didn't last very long...
Eventually, the party was taken outside, and just as luck would have it, right outside my window!
Something hit our window, waking both myself and my partner up. When I went to see what all the noise was, I was surprised to see a group, probably 20 strong, fighting. Not a single member of staff insight. All of this happening on their property. Also worth nothing, no door men were present at this party. I may be incorrect, but I believe there is a law in place that requires door men for parties...
Anyway, I instantly rang the Gaurdí, before going down to reception to query why no one was doing anything.
No one could answer it. I poked my head outside and seen a single member of the bar staff attempting to break it all up. Not sure what everyone else was doing, or why they left their co-worker to deal with it all.
Eventually, the Gaurdí arrived, and the group's made their tracks and left, but at this stage, I had about 2-3 possible sleep left.
I (stupidly) pre-paid for the room. If I hadn't done so, I would have refused to pay. A shockingly bad experience. When I informed staff of my bad experience all I got was a little shrugg of the shoulder. No explanation, no apologies...NOTHING! I've received better customer service from a self checkout in Tesco then I did here!
If these are the people they will allow to party on their premises, they can keep their below average hotel, poor staff and over priced crap for themselves.
I will never return to this hotel as long as I live. The Hampton Hotel has ALOT to answer for... read more
