I just recently started going to Hammer Down in 2025, paying monthly over the winter/spring months. The last month I paid...... they were only open for 2 weeks, and then they closed down without any notice. After paying for 4 consecutive months up till March 2025, the owner once stated that I hadn't paid since Dec 2025. Looking back now, it obvious they had no idea what was going on with their memberships. Im glad I printed my receipts & have proof of payments. As of today 5-12-2025..... my debit card is pending a monthly charge from Hammer Down Range. This payment will be disputed & stopped...I may also pursue theft charges for their ignorance and disregard for us paying customers. If anything they owe all their members a refund, We dont owe Hammer Down anything. read more

We had purchased a family range pass last year, which includes range time for 2 adults, and after being members for a few years, they had to update my membership card. Only me and my father shoot, but I had recently moved out, so I updated my address for the new card. The owner then cited I would need to purchase my own membership, since I don't live in the same household anymore, roughly 2 months into our year membership. This immediately frustrated me, given the history she has with unfriendly service towards members of my family, and feels like a scam to me. The owner was rude to my mother when she inquired about how the firearms shipping process worked prior to this situation. The time posted for the CCW class I took a few years ago was 2 hours off, and this place isn't close to where I live, so I had to go find something to do at 8am for 2 hours. Another time, I had put $200 down to layaway a rifle, realized it was way overpriced, decided I wanted my money back, and she gave me the run around about getting my deposit back, acting like she couldn't find the layaway and stalling me for a few minutes searching for paperwork. Don't use Onling/Hammer Down for gun transfers involving UPS!! The store does not open until noon and the UPS truck gets there before noon and has to keep the delivery. After three days of this non-delivery nonsense, the gun goes back to the sender. read more

I bought a groupon for this first time experience. My husband has his C&C and has been wanting me to get experience. I'll admit it's a little overwhelming walking into a place filled with men and guns. Luckily we arrived early and there weren't many people there. There's different areas for different types of guns. You walk in, they ask what you need, sit you down with a few sheets of their rules and regulations. You sign and initial everywhere, the guy goes over everything then takes your picture for the once a year membership card that by the way we had to pay extra for. The big guy with the beard had no personality whatsoever. I don't think he liked us. He's very matter of fact and kind of drill sargentish. Apparently the majority of people do not arrive at 8 or 9 in the morning on a Saturday. He made a comment to us about normal people sitting home drinking coffee at that time. I on the other hand am not super comfortable being in a room filled with shooters. That's why we went early to avoid the crowd. I am not familiar with all the terminology they use so I asked a couple more questions about things as he gave the rundown of procedures and rules which he didn't seem happy about. Overall, the place wasn't warm and inviting. I felt like this might be a place just for locals or consistent shooters. I don't think the guy liked that we came in with a Groupon. They were celebrating the birthday of the establishment and giving away prizes. The man said we would receive any hat's or t- shirts if we were to win from computer selection when we visited the next time. The ad clearly stated that people who arrived early were to receive gifts. It didn't seem right. After we left I gave the place a call and sure enough we WERE supposed to be given things. It's not even really about the gifts, it's that he blatantly stood there and lied to us. Made the whole thing up because he didn't like us. We were very kind. Maybe asked a few too many questions, I have absolutely no idea. It's a very small place and it's been there for a couple of years. I believe the Groupon was advertised to get their name out there and drum up some business, especially since it's located pretty far from any highway access. I never would've known about it without it. It was an experience. Nothing really makes me want to return there. Overall, the place is clean and orderly. There's not a whole lot of space. I imagine it could get crowded so off peak times might be better if you don't want to have to wait on a lane. Each thing you need it's charged separately. You might want to look at a membership first, especially if you like the place because it's cheaper in the long run. The membership includes most of what you need for a visit. read more

Small place but the best range experience I've had as a woman. Staff very knowledgable and kindly, friendly and helpful. One gentleman employee in particular offered me and my husband tips that greatly improved our shooting. Even though we're less experienced, we've never felt intimidated or unwelcome at Hammer Down. In regards to the Range and the customer service I do like going to Hammer Down. IF you need gun smithing I would go elsewhere. I have had a 22 revolver in their care twice. First time they had it for two months. After I cycled the revolvers several times to check the operation, it developed the same problem almost immediately. No rounds fired through gun, no dry firing. I took it back. Three months later, after multiple calls, I got the revolver back. I was told it was my fault that it failed because I was not pulling the hammer back far enough. I do not really feel this was the case but did not make a big deal of it....they only charged me parts for this time. I took the piston on the range for 30 minutes. I made absolutely sure pulled the hammer back all the way, which i was certain i did before. I cleaned the gun and when I cycled once (not dry firing) it developed the same problem. Five months, about $150 dollars later, i still cannot use the revolver. I am not going back a third time. I would recommend trying someone else. But the range is great and so are the people. read more

This range is very close to anyone in the blanchester/miami township area. The range is fantastic, they have recently updated it with electronics, and it is always a great time. The staff are very friendly, and happy to answer any questions you may have. They are also great at determining what you like! So watch out, you will buy their recommendations. My entire family and friends really enjoy this range more than any other we have tried in the Cincinnati area. Wish I could always be a yearly member as that is a great deal!
