Employee at the counter that put our name on a waiting list was annoyed and rude when asked about how long it would take before we could use the range. When he started to take others in line before us and wouldn't give us a reason why, we decided to leave. There is no other range in the Cincinnati, OH area with range rules so focused on safety. If you have issues with their rules, you have issues with being safe. If you visit other ranges and they do not establish the same safety protocols, then implement them yourself. And leave if too many safety violations are allowed. Besides safety, the staff is exceptional. Ignore those who complain of race issues and complain about being told to leave. If you don't smell like you shouldn't be there, and are behaving in a safe and legal way, you will not have any issues. read more

I've taken multiple courses from this location. Both Rick and Rich have been extremely knowledgeable, patient, and helpful during my lessons. The rest of the staff (Lance, Trever, Alex, etc) have also spent lots of time answering any questions I have about gear, ammunition, guns, and shooting in general and have shown a genuine interest in better me as a shooter. When I was new toar-15's i went there to shoot mine. Did great for a few mags then it started jamming. I didn't know what was wrong, so I asked them to look at it. They charged me 180 bucks and replaced the trigger group, which is fine, but then the gun continued to jam. A different guy took a look at it and was like dude, all you need is more lube. Sure enough, more gun oil worked. Got charged 180 bucks for a problem that should have cost me nothing. They also made me pay for the $6 waiver 2x in a 4-month period. Wish we had a good outdoor range around here, I hate going to this place. read more

This is my first time at this business and at this location. I came here on a Saturday for an "Intro to Firearms" class. I have some familiarity with firearms, but not enough to feel comfortable which is why I was interested in this class. The cost of the class I took is free. They do offer additional courses at a cost, as well as private lessons, but all require a firearm. You can rent a firearm and purchase ammo at this location. They also have new and used firearms that you can purchase here as well. The store was very clean and the associates were all visible and available for questions or assistance. I also saw women working at this location as well, which adds to the comfort factor. I did not feel pressured to purchase a firearm after the class. They did offer a discount because I took the class. The class itself was very useful. Mark B was our instructor and he was quite funny. He reminded me a lot of my dad. He explained everything in a fun way with stories to back up the advice. I definitely recommend the class! I feel more comfortable knowing the safety rules and the parts of a gun as well as how they function. Now I need help picking a gun for myself! I will definitely come here again to shoot a few guns to decide which I like and feel comfortable shooting to be able to sign up for more courses. Highly recommend! read more

The range is pretty good, but I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for firearm and accessories. They do not stand by their products, and will push you to the manufacturer for support on items that they sell you broken. You also will have a hard time finding a more expensive shop. You will absolutely pay local gun shop prices, but when something goes wrong you will wish you ordered from Amazon. I bought an optic that stopped working after 3 shots, at the range at the store I purchased it at. Instead of replacing the non-functional item, or allowing me to return/exchange, they sent me on a lengthy warranty repair for a brand new item. I spent my hour of range time on warranty return for a brand new item. When returning the optic through the manufacturer they told me it is highly unusual for a place to not be willing to take it back, and stores usually do that for their customers since it has a lifetime warranty. Multiple SPB employees including the manager said that if it was opened it was used and it doesn't matter if it was broken and they just sold it, open a support case, wait a couple of months. This isn't the first item that instead of working with the customer they passed the buck to the manufacturer. read more

I have been a satisfied customer at Range USA Cincy West for several years. I have always been pleased at how fair and even handed the employees treat everyone. SAFETY is stressed in every part of their operation from the opening lines on their website, their standard operating procedures for employees and numerous signs. With several stores and 1000s of customers, they have been witness to what it takes to provide a secure and safe experience. Unfortunately, not every person wants to cooperate. A customer had an issue with the policy of reloading their gun in THEIR lane. They were prompted by the Range SAFETY official to load their gun in their own lane. ​The customer became belligerent, even though there were no less than 5 signs hanging on the walls in that room with the same warning. But it wasn't so much the rule, it was the person who reminded him it was a rule... a woman... a woman wearing a headscarf. He escalated into being loud and abusive to the female employee, who I knew was a regular employee I had dealt with several times in the past. Three male employees came into the shooting room to defuse the situation. But he was not going to back down from being nasty and aggressive to a woman who was doing her job. It was very tense for a few minutes until he was escorted from the building and told to never come back. I was very impressed how the entire staff reacted to the customer who was being a threat. I was very impressed that they defended their female employee from what was nothing more than bigoted tirade against a woman in a headscarf. read more

I received a Groupon for Point Blank's Basic Handgun Course as a birthday gift. After a couple of months (on my part, not theirs,) I was finally able to sign up for the class. The class itself was very informative. Rob, an ex-Marine & ex-law enforcement officer was the instructor. I appreciated the additional insight, tips, and information Rob include, that wasn't in our book. He really took the time to answer everyone's questions. No question was too small. Everyone in the class seemed confident by the end. After taking this course, I feel like I have the knowledge needed to be a responsible handgun owner. Point Blank is cleaner and better maintained than other gun shops I have been to. Items were displayed well with no visible clutter. The range was also neat and clean. During the class, Rob mentioned how seriously Point Blank takes cleanliness; that they test lower than the legal limits for lead. I have read elsewhere complaints that Point Blank is more expensive than their competitors. While I always like to get the best deal, this is one of the few instances I am willing to pay more. A few extra dollars to reduce lead exposure is worth it. Point Blank has various guns available for rental. Point Blank has several locations in Ohio. A new location is due to open in Florence, KY soon. They offer an array of classes. Deals for several of the classes may be found on Groupon. Several range specials run throughout the week. My 18 yr old son bought a gun here last night, was given a free hour on their range so decided to try it out. The gun would not fire or eject so he came home oil it thinking this would fix the problem. It still did not work so he tried to return it today. He was told to refer to his sales receipt which said "all sales are final". Basically was told he just bought a $650 paperweight. Found out we now need to spend another $150 to fix a "new" gun. Horrible experience. Was racially profiled and gender profiled by multiple employees. Same sex couple with biracial adopted son. Was questioned by employee and explained the situation of our family situation and was treated poorly the entire time we were there by said employee and other employees. Was called "grandma" when in fact we are "moms" not grandparents. When called to speak to manager Alex he was not helpful. Next day spoke to manager Chris and was called a liar. Super clean facility and friendly staff. Several of the pistol lanes needed repair but as we were the only ones shooting today it did not affect us. My wife's pistol began malfunctioning on the line and the staff took her firearm broke it down and cleaned it at no charge. This was a great favor they did us and it will definitely be a reason we will be returning. Look forward to returning for some more lane time and enrolling in a CCW class. read more

Honestly this place has gone super down hill over the past year. Took 30 minutes to rent a lane with the store being dead, also apparently upon asking to use any little orange ear foams they told me they don't just give those away and never have. (Literally have had them given to me and dozens of others on sooo many occasions). Same with glasses as I forgot mine at the house. Also there's a new "range fee".that you AND your "free guest" have to pay. Once more the rules have changed on the range, just a month prior you were supposed to load all ammo at the tables behind your booth and leave firearms unloaded in your booth. Now you load and keep firearms at the booth which isn't an issue in itself it's just stupid to keep changing the rules and have range officers who are clueless to how it was before. Last thing was the range officer I had that day. One of the most disrespectful old men I've ever had the displeasure of speaking too. Tried to explain to him that the mag loading rule was just changed and he just wants to argue in a nasty tone with me. Really sucks this place has turned into another money hungry shithole like most other public ranges. read more

Came here to help a friend try shooting some guns so she could purchase one she liked. There were three of us but only one was going to shoot and the other two of us were just there to help with gun info, loading, etc. We weren't allowed on the range without paying a second shooter fee of $10 (each) AND some BS range maintenance fee of $6 (each)! I decided not to go to the range so asked where I could watch them from; there was no viewing for the range they were on (red). I asked if they could go orange and they said that range was closed. I said I just saw someone on it and they gave me some BS about a class (there was only one person on that range). My friend rented a gun and was forced to purchase their way over priced Ammo, even though we had some they require you to use theirs. They overcharged one of the payments so had to give a refund (good thing we caught it...) This place has no idea about customer service and they just nickle and dime you to death with fees and unnecessary irritation. WHY do they not have viewing?!? Utterly garbage, will NEVER come here again even though it's the closest range to us. I'd rather drive way out of my way than to give this place my time or another dime. read more

Very clean and open shop. They had an extremely large selection of AR platforms and handguns but were lacking in the rifles and shotguns. All of the staff was nice and ready to help. If they didn't have an answer they knew the guy who did. There are plenty of spots on the range too. It gets crowded on the weekends but is open most of week. Visited Point Blank West for the first time tonight to use the range. The were having "Date Night" and 2 people could use a lane for $15. Jeremy was very friendly and helpful throughout our check in and we got a pair of lanes in less than 10 minutes even though the range was very busy. The facility is well maintained and organized. They have a great selection of both handguns and rifles. Prices are a little higher than retail but comparable to other local gun stores. Ammo prices and availability were also good. I just moved to local area from North Carolina where I had a few favorite ranges and will now use Point Blank West. I highly recommend this location for range use and weapons purchases. read more

Happened to me again. Went in to shoot at the Cincinnati West store and it was 40 minutes to get a lane if I'd stayed. Even if I could have a lane it was going to be in the rifle area because they had a class getting exclusive use of the pistol range. I used to have a monthly pass but could never use the thing because of the classes monopolizing the range. I think they used to shoot the classes after hours. Anyway, if you can get a lane it will likely be on rifle and as my luck runs, I always end up right next to someone with a cannon and makes for a very unpleasant visit. I need to find a new place to shoot. I am from here in Cincinnati. I don't know why the review tag says I am from California. read more

Typically a good experience. Although I have had one very bad experience. I went in with my grandmother who is new to shooting and was having a little bit of trouble. I helped her when I noticed she was having trouble in her lane, but there was one time where I was shooting in my lane and didnt notice her having trouble in hers. When I stopped firing, I walked behind her lane to see how she was doing and a young, arrogant, "know it all", "Tatci-cool" employee was standing there making snide remarks and harassing my grandmother. My grandmother kept trying to explain to him the problem she was having and he would just continue to interrupt her and he ended up saying "here I'll show you how to do it and took the gun from her hand, placed it on the counter, went out front and grabbed some ammo and came back loaded the gun and rapid fired several shots down range, turned around and said "see it's not the gun, its you" and then walked away. I told him thanks we've got it and we wont be needing your help anymore. He laughed and walked away. I've heard through some from friends of mine that he no longer works there and that is the only reason, that I have started returning to this location. read more

Shoot Point Blank may be ok. But do not buy a Taurus gun with mail in rebate. I bought two Taurus hand guns. I sent every thing in for the rebate. I got a post card from Taurus saying the UPC barcode was not eligible. Its their UPC barcode and I had no problem reading it without my reading glasses. I will never buy another Taurus again. I go to Point Blank West to practice about once a week. I love the employees there. They are friendly and always ready to assist. They greet you like a friend and never make you feel stupid for not having the all of the knowledge others may have about guns, their maintenance and accessories.
