    Pretty good Americans

Solid establishment that had a nice small neighborhood feel. Food is good and quick. Doesn't fall into the blow your socks off category however things are made fresh and with love. You get a sense of the passion that they have. Down the street is the much fancier granger which is great but also more expensive and has a long line, so haminados is a much more efficient alternative. I recommend the baguette sandwich which was a tasty item that I got for breakfast.

Awesome croissant, cappuccino and fresh squeezed OJ! Cute patio- extremely friendly owner- LOVED IT!

    The 'famous' quiche.

Pride in his product served with a smile and kind words. The quiche is, according to the shop owner, "my pride and my joy", made from the same 'famous' recipe since the early 50's and I see why. Fresh and warm, laced with spinach and vegetables, crusted with cheese and savory herbs.

Neat bakery, smelled really good. However, the cafe owner was very unpleasant. He kept making rude American remarks such as "Katy Perry" over and over after I repeatedly tried to talk to him. Then when I refused to buy anything he said good luck with American McDonalds.

This place is open six days a week from early in the morning till fairly late. But somehow it's always Sunday when I walk down Chepstow Road, the only day it is shut ... this is how I managed to miss out on this little gem for far too long - another proof that you should take a walk around your neighbourhood from time to time. I popped in on my lunch break yesterday. It was a beautiful sunny day and I didn't feel like taking the bus. I was hungry but didn't really know what I felt like eating. The choice in sandwich bars can be quite overwhelming and I almost admire people who know exactly how they like their sandwiches. I was relieved the woman in front of me took her time checking out the delicacies behind the glass. And even more relieved when the man behind the counter asked whether I was more in a meat or in a vegetarian mood. He soon recommended a most delicious veggie patty which came in a pitta bread with various salads and sauces. I had meant to order a quick snack for take away but couldn't resist enjoying a more relaxed lunch in the lovely garden at the back. From my table I could watch the goings-on in the shop, with one guy preparing lamb burgers, the other serving customers - a gentle chatter which almost reminded me of sitting in a large farmhouse kitchen. ... apparently this used to be one of Stella McCartney's favourites, and Paul wrote a song about Haminados "My Secret Garden". A new find for me, but a well-kept secret for many. Long may it continue. I returned to work relaxed and revived.

Quiche Lorraine and a bagel. And superb coffee.

So make sure and have napkins handy. My husband had the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich while I had the cheeseburger for breakfast since the "slut" specialty sandwich wasn't available. My husband said his sandwich reminded him of one his mom used to make at home growing up, which is a lovely sign. Mine was a slightly above an average burger with a touch of dijonnaise and pickles. We also had a side of the truffle hash browns and they were great! Just a classic, crispy hash brown with a hint of truffle flavor. I hope to try another sandwich before my trip ends. But if I don't, I'm pretty happy with my experience!

Almost never-ending long and there is barely any seating upstairs or downstairs but never fear because outside directly infant of the store also has no seating lol My husband and I crossed the street after getting our food and sat on the benches outside. We absolutely loved every aspect of the meal. The sandwiches were filling and jammed packed with flavor. The price was average for the area and the hash browns are the best I have ever tasted. I cannot wait until I visit Egg Slut again

Things were looking promising when I saw a vegetarian breakfast offered in lieu of the traditional English breakfast. I was drawn to the dish because it offered spinach and hash browns in lieu of all the meat in its partner dish. My friend ordered the regular Full English and her dish came out well before mine. I waited roughly 10-15 minutes longer for something that would appear to take less cook time. The plate came out and I noticed there was no spinach. I was not offered a choice as a substitute nor made aware of the situation. Long story short I ended up ordering the Full English and they forgot my black pudding. Waited additional time for that as well. Then they forgot I asked for the bill. Overall, I would not recommend it, especially if you're on a time schedule and multiple mishaps occurred. No cash accepted and 12.5% service charge automatically added to the final bill with the usual VAT.

We're quite proud of our coffee scene, and Butter Bakery could beat out most of the options in Portland. I had an oat milk latte and an americano, plus a few food items. Let's start with the americano. Now, I'll admit, I'm not the most skilled barista. I have some sense of how to pull a shot of espresso, but I'm not brilliant at it. With that as context: I do not exaggerate when I say there was more of that delicious creamy head on the americano than I've managed on some straight shots I've pulled. The espresso roast was subtle and sweet -- I waited too long to write this review, so I couldn't cite precise notes, but this is definitely a roast I could enjoy sipping on and slowly analyzing, while still being very approachable. The americano was perhaps a tiny hair more diluted than I would have liked, but it didn't quite reach "watery" either. I choose to see this as a deliberate choice to further open up the profile of the espresso. The oat latte was expertly foamed, with the right amount of oat milk so as not to overwhelm the espresso. It was on the dry side, almost a cappuccino, which is exactly what I prefer in a latte (if I wanted a cortado, I'd ask for a cortado). I don't know which oat milk they use, but it was sweet and creamy and simple and complemented the espresso beautifully. There's also a food menu that, while not hugely extensive, is packed full of gems. I very much enjoyed the pesto mozzarella tomato panini with extremely its fresh ingredients. It's about the size you'd expect for a cafe panini, and thus a bit more expensive than I'm comfortable with, but I'll chalk that up to the location -- compared with other local options, Butter Bakery Bar and Cafe is absolutely a contender for a budget lunch. Lastly, I'll just mention: I did not try the Mediterranean mains options, so I can't speak to their quality, but seeing things like mezze on a cafe menu is a nice change of pace.
