Nice little Italian restaurant right near Portobello Marker. It has the most idyllic setting. The outside seating area looks magical with its colored garden lights and plants- very intimate. It is the kind of place where you can dress up a bit and have special date or be casual and not feel out of place. The servers were friendly and personable and the price of the food was not bad for the location.

This was hands down the best food we have ever ate. We loved the atmosphere, too. The garlic bread is amazing! Drinks were great, too.

Great hidden spot. Thank you Yelp for directing us here. Off the busy market but gets full quickly at lunch time. Came in few minutes before noon so pizza was not an option yet but sandwiches were awesome. Great bread, cheese, salami and mix of ingredients. If in the area and would like good food, affordable, true Italian feel...try this one.

So cute! Stumbled into this colorful cafe during our day at the portobello rd market. Such a nice break from the crowded market. We got a few drinks and the porchetta platter and some olives as a snack. Really delicious. I loved the chill vibe and friendly staff. It had a glass roof almost like a greenhouse which made the whole cafe really bright.

I still haven't had a meal at this lovely cafe/restaurant but finally popped in for a quick cappuccino the other day. They don't compete for the early morning trade and were only just opening up when I arrived. I almost felt guilty but all staff were super friendly and the coffee one of the best I've had in ages - you can always tell the difference when an Italian operates the machine ... The place is packed out at weekends and I tend to just pop out for a sandwich during the week, but I am sure to find an excuse to return soon and spend a little longer - love the decor and overall feel, all very bright and happy.

From the street the Portobello Garden Caffe can be easy to miss.

Wonderful hidden gem in the heart of Notting Hill on Portobello Road. This unassuming little caffe is located off the street offering a quiet alternative to the more heavily trafficked eateries. Delicious food at reasonable prices. Everything we ate was very tasty and beautifully presented. Service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. We will definitely return!

Absolutely the best Italian. Very authentic. The eggplant and ham sandwich was very good.

Great food here in this rustic Italian cafe. Ate here with my family in 2018. Service was friendly and prices were reasonable.

I've come back to visit London several times since then (most recently in September) and its amazing how all the shops have changed on this block but this sandwich shop still remains! I am sooo glad it's still here! Seriously the best sandwiches, hot dishes such as Samosas- still cheap and fast service! Love that the locals come here everyday and know they can get the best sandwich or hot food from here! I'm obsessed with their simple bacon and egg sandwich (all comes on a baguette) I get it with no sauce of any kind. My second choice- chicken with corn. Simple yet so tasty. No need a million toppings-

I came here 9 years ago when I was a student and vowed to come back to try more tasty treats. I did just that and brought my husband this time! We ordered: -Tandoori sandwich (hot) -Peri Peri Chicken sandwich (hot) Both were so delicious, huge, and under 3 pounds (which is unbelievable)! I would say peri peri chicken was the tastiest. The flavor was on point and had a good kick of spice. If you want to save money and are in the area-maybe to go visit the V&A or another museum, come grab a quick meal to go here first and then have a picnic!

My husband said his sandwich reminded him of one his mom used to make at home growing up, which is a lovely sign. Mine was a slightly above an average burger with a touch of dijonnaise and pickles. We also had a side of the truffle hash browns and they were great! Just a classic, crispy hash brown with a hint of truffle flavor. I hope to try another sandwich before my trip ends. I've only ever been in there for coffee and the occasional breakfast, but the lunchtime trade here is always busy. Everyone gets the sort of friendly greeting from the Mediterranean owners, as if they are a recognized and valued customer. In fact they are so welcoming, you get a guilty feeling if you have not been in for a while, as if you are letting the business down (self-induced, nothing to do with the owners). The breakfast is a basic English. I've had better and I've had worse. It's just a consistent English breakfast. It's strange; I love my coffee, but can only drink a cup of tea with an English breakfast. Am I the only one? They do a lovely smooth latte at £1.80 for a small and £2.20 for a large, it is such good value. I love coming here for an unhurried, relaxing coffee, and usually catching up with someone I know to hear the local gossip. There is a constant stream of customers coming for take-out sandwiches. Writing this review has made me feel I should really come here more often, and support the local independent guys locally more often. I would hate to see businesses like this disappear, being muscled out by the larger chains. It really is a little gem. I went to pay for my two lattes at £4.40. Gave them £10, and they gave me £6 change with a smile and a wink (see what I mean about feeling guilty, for not supporting it more?). If you're in the Maida Vale area and want lunch, it's the ideal place to try out. It is only open for breakfast and lunch though.
