My only hesitation posting this, is that everyone will realize what a gem Jennie at Halo Salon is & her appointments will be full. (Hey, a girl has a right to be selfish when she finally finds an amazing stylist) Anyway... Here's my feedback, hope it helps! I recently had my hair cut, colored/highlighted deep conditioned $ styled by Jeannie at Halo salon. It's always a bit unknown seeing a new stylist for the first time. Especially with all the "self taught Stylist" damage me/we put our hair through during the times when salons were closed. Yikes!!! The first time I spoke with Jeannie on the phone, I explained what I was looking for and the issues with my hair. She was so quick to listen and even allotted additional time to make sure I was completely comfortable with the plan before she ever picked up a brush. Needless to say, she took my frizzy, self bleached, damaged hair and worked her magic. I find myself loving my cut, color and new style more and more every day. In effort to make this review as helpful as possible, you can count on Jeannie to be upfront and honest with a heart of gold. My first experience at Halo was great - warm and welcoming. Cute salon! I will be a Halo regular as long as Christina Hiatt is there - I'd follow her anywhere! Christina is passionate about hair and it shows through in the work she does. An appointment with her starts with a fantastic shampoo and ends with you wanting to go out on the town and show everyone your hot new locks! I am easily bored with my hair and always wanting to change my look. I am not necessarily the best at communicating what I want, but she's been around the block long enough to know what I'm trying to say and how to do it in a way that will flatter my face. I trust her 100%. She is a perfectionist and always gives each and every hair her full attention; I never feel rushed when I'm in her chair. Ms. Hiatt is an amazing colorist and has made my dark brown hair pretty much every color in the book. Her range goes from timeless (my mom's hair) to trendy and everything in between. It's also a bonus that I love Kevin Murphy's line and want to buy every delicious smelling product she uses on my locks. A co-worker recommended Nicole at Halo after my previous stylist "disappeared." (According to his former salon) From start to finish I loved my experience. And, most importantly, how my hair looks! The salon itself is simple and comfortable, stylish without trying too hard. I was offered a glass of wine which is always a nice touch and Nicole got started on my all over color, partial highlight and cut. I did not provide a ton of guidance, trusting her opinions and expertise, and was delighted by the results. I booked my next appointment on the spot, something I historically never do. As an added bonus, Nicole worked fast! I have thick hair and have come to dread the 3+hours I can expect to spend at the salon. Not this time! I was done in 2 hours! I have hesitated to post a review but after trying to style my hair for 4 days after a cut last week and with NO success to even get it to lay down flat for it was chopped, razered, thinned and then one side shorter than the other with the sides ending up somewhere around the middle of my ears. Ugh! The picture shown to Jeannie was chin length, I ended with a Terrible Pixi cut, don't get me wrong I love the different versions of the Pixi but this cut is no way close to any of them. Also so you know the picture I brought in was a short "shaggy" bob with the back around 5 inches ending at bottom of ear all around and shaggy down the neck. Each layer on my head is 2 inches all over. Jeanine did not study the picture nor ask to see it again till I said I think you are going to short but she confirmed "I gotcha girl" well she did NOT! And by then it was to late.. WARNING If a stylist does not ask to see a picture at least 10 times, does not part hair into section while cutting nor listen when you say t the beginning "I think you are going to short" you probably will not get what you ask for and walk out very unhappy. At the end she stepped back and said I can't make your hair grow back, she admitted she messed up, apologized, she gets 1 for taking accountability but will not return. I will now wait a month for some growth and hopefully find a stylist who can fix it as it grows out to the style I wanted read more

Terrific, good quality, no-fuss salon. Extremely friendly,accommodating and flexible. After listening to my preferences, Antonia understood and executed exactly (actually better than) the cut I had hoped for. (Most people cut it shorter than I like!). She was very friendly but also got down to business. My teen daughter had hers cut the day before by another stylist and was also very happy with the result. I had a great experience. The salon was clean and bright, the staff was welcoming and friendly, and Dustin, a fellow mountain lover, sent me home with beautiful color and a great cut. I reluctantly bought a Living Social deal for this Salon as I have been searching for a place to call "home" for my hair styling. When I called to redeem, I was surprised to learn the deal was only good for one stylist who was booked weeks out. I went ahead and made my appointment. They called to confirm 2 days in advance which was nice. Negatives: Not much to complain about here: 1. A little hard to find the first time 2. I was not greeted by anyone when I walked in, in fact I felt a little ignored as stylists were all working with clients and nobody acknowledged my presence until I was called back by Dustin. Not the best first impression for a first time customer. Positives: 1. Dustin- friendly, warm, fun to talk to and he listened to my requests to a "T". I was very happy with my results. He checked in on me a couple times while my color was sitting and made sure I was comfortable. Also gave good advice for how to help my troubled hair get under control. 2. Atmosphere- because of the location and size of the place, I thought I might feel like I was in a dying place of business but on the inside it is clean, bright and vibrant with color, conversation and people. I do believe I found my new home at Halo Salon with Dustin :). read more

Best haircut I've ever had! Bonnie is the girl to book if you are looking for a great cut! My last haircut was a horrifying experience where the stylist did not listen to what I wanted and I left the salon in tears (please avoid the Aveda Ergo salon in Northfield). That awful experience led me down the road of top knots and ponytails every day for 8 months before I had the courage to step foot in a salon again. I found some of the yelp reviews encouraging so I decided to go to Halo. I am lucky enough to have a great natural color so I only went in for a cut. I was treated by their friendly front desk manager and was offered a drink immediately. Bonnie was just finishing up with another client and was right on time for our scheduled appointment. She was incredibly friendly without asking questions that were too personal. She even told me a little about herself and her passion for her industry was obvious. She refers to was she does as art, and told me about some of the fun shows she gets to work. I showed her the photo of the haircut I wanted, and she replicated the photo exactly. She also took her time and asked me along the way what I thought. This is the most expensive place I've been... I'm used to paying around $60 but full price for my haircut would have been $85. Bonnie/the salon gave me a great discount for being a first time client and they offer discounts to you and a friend if you refer someone. To be honest though, I would pay more as long as I leave the salon with a great experience like I did last time. *One last note, the salon is extremely accommodating for people with handicaps, but parking is a bit of a joke. I was on crutches because of a recent surgery and they made sure that I was comfortable the entire time. They are in an awkward spot where parking may not be easily resolved, but it was important enough for me to note. read more

First I should say I haven't yet been to the salon! But, Irina Lukina is moving there and she has been doing my hair the last two years at Salon Misha so I just wanted to give her my endorsement. She is interesting and nice, but, most important, she is very professional and will not let you leave the salon looking anything short of your best. My color has never looked better, and her haircuts (which, unlike most stylists, she does after she has dried your hair) last. Francesca Nicole cut my hair. She was friendly and welcoming, but I still had to wait about 20 minutes after the appointment time because she was dying someone's hair. I asked her to just cut some dry ends off and shape my bangs. She cut my hair and said I was done and reminded her she needed to do my bangs and she quickly cut them. It felt like she wasn't doing much and my bill was about 70 with her tip calculated in already. $60 for a simple trim seemed extreme. When I washed my hair during the week there were still many dead ends left. I friendliness is nice but I just wanted a good cut and didn't get it. read more

Our whole family now gets their hair cut at Halo. Of course the haircuts and coloring is fantastic. They do a great job every time. Its what a neighborhood salon should be. We have never had a bad experience. Once, i wanted my hair a little darker, so they took care of me. My little girls also get their haircut here and they have a blast. Its a big day at the salon. I had to write a review for Halo because I have had such positive experiences there. I was referred there by my neighbor and have been very happy with both the cut and color. I get my cut from Natalie and highllights from Kara. Both do an excellent job and listen to what you want. I have very fine hair that is hard to work with, and both of them have helped me find a new style that works. I was a consignment client at Halo. I wanted to pick up my jewelry and moved it into a shop where it flies off the shelves. I had to make so many appointments with her- she either wouldn't respond, or wasn't there. I gave her weeks of notice that I was coming to pick up. The day I was finally able to pin her down, I stood in the waiting area, 5 feet from her station in that tiny salon, and she pretended not to notice me for a good 30 min. Then she was finished with her client and began working on a new client, without even acknowledging my presence. I stood up and asked if I could collect my jewelry, and she told me she had kept one of my necklaces, took it home, and broke it! I was so shocked, and then she went back to her client, like nothing. Completely unprofessional, especially for the owner. So she didn't have my necklace, and would not pay me for it. I had to call and threaten to file a police report before she dropped it in my mailbox... broken. What an awful experience. Necklace came back to me with about 40% of the chain mangled as though cut with scissors. Will be filing police report. EDITED TO ADD: I personally do not know or have any type, other than a former business relationship that I wish I hadn't. The fact that the person who responded below to this review had to insist it is some kind of personal vendetta is beyond ridiculous and does not address the issue of theft. With all the reputable salons in Denver, why take the chance? read more

Tremendously skilled stylists and color experts are what you'll find at Halo Salon in Denver. Khara Lyons has been doing my color since I moved here from San Francisco 4+ years ago and I've never been happier with my color. She's amazing with blonds. Khara introduced me to Natalie recently and now my fabulous color has a fabulous cut to go with it. They are the right kind of perfectionists and I would recommend them to anyone. They become your friends instantly and take great care to make sure that I walk out of Halo happy. Not only do I go there, but I bring my kids to the salon as well for Lisa to cut their hair. She is so amazing with them and they look as cute as can be leaving Halo. Based on the reviews, I decided to give Halo a try. I scheduled with two separate stylists (one for color and the other for a haircut). I told both women that I was trying to grow my hair out and needed a cut and style that wouldn't require a lot of maintenance and would work great with my naturally curly hair. For $200 plus dollars I ended up with great color that started to fade and wash out significantly within the first few weeks and a very unattractive, high-maintenance, way too-short bob that looks really lame and outdated. So much for letting it grow out, easy maintenance and fantastic color. Needless to say, I feel really gypped and disappointed--my hair looks terrible. read more

Overpriced and the worst haircut I've ever had. I couldn't even get out of bed for a few days after the cut I got here... I was so depressed. I told the stylist to leave some length and weight, and she chopped it up and razored it. I felt like a tattered, battered rag afterwards and was embarrassed to go out in public. I hate to sound so negative about perfectly nice people -- but in this case, the perfectly nice stylist left me in a dreadful place with my self-esteem. Never going back, of course. read more

So confusing on so many levels. I had a Saturday appointment and happen to see a posting on Halo Salon Denver Facebook page that the salon has moved from the 8th Ave location. Even more confusing was the pictures on FB that the salon has moved into a Italian restaurant? To make it even more confusing I called the number and it went to a voicemail box that belongs to a person I have never heard of not has ever done my hair. Luckily for me I received a call from the salon from OG 8th Ave local and was informed that the entire team of stylists are still at the 8th Ave location(4336 E 8th Ave) minus one. I found out about halo through the livingsocial deal and my stylist was Dustin. I came in with an idea for my haircut and we talked through my options and how my hair was - he was so knowledgeable and honest. I honestly love how my hair came out and knew he understood what I wanted from my haircut and delivered with easy. In addition to Dustin I felt like that staff was very friendly and helpful and it was an overall great experience.
