The beef noodles and cucumber salad were also good but not standouts. Maybe will try to the truffle rice next time - which is also pretty popular. Salted egg yolk gave great flavour, texture was just right. Very thick pieces. - Mushrooms (Seasonal Vegetable): Very good. Just the right spice level, and loads of umami. - Beef Noodles: Good. Wagyu beef is the highlight as it's so tender and coated with a delicious black pepper sauce. Felt they could've provided more noodles given the price. - Heritage Fried Rice: Very good. Pretty close to traditional, and good wok-hei. - Sablefish: Good. Quite a traditional dish on top of silken tofu. All the flavours were right, but felt the sablefish was overcooked as it was quite still stiff. Service was very attentive and interactive. Fine-dining level service where they describe the dish as they present it to the table. Overall, a good experience. A mix of traditional and modern flavours and recipes, that all generally work. Yes, it's more expensive than a regular Chinese restaurant, so you're paying for the ambiance, the innovation and service. I'd consider returning.

Nice casual comfort food. Looks like a mom & pop (brother & sister?) place. The guy used to the executive chef at Truffle House (now closed) in Ambleside (West Vancouver). I happened to enter the place near their closing time (incorrect business hours) but they were kind enough to still serve my buddy and me with whatever they had still available. I had their litson (lechon) with garlic rice. Super tasty. Gobbled up the entire thing. The lechon skin was a bit hard, but I think that was more because it had been sitting all afternoon. Not going to hold that against them. Served with tangy chili(?) dipping sauce. They have other cafeteria items available if one comes earlier in the day. Definitely will be back to try some of their other stuff. Recommended.

I've had pomelo before and sometimes have mixed feelings about it, depending on how sweet/sour it is and how juicy it is. Song's pomelo salad was mixed with some amazing flavors - I have no idea what was in it, but it tasted super unique, refreshing and sweet/savory - and it came with a bunch of betel leaves to wrap with, which was my first time trying betel leaves and also had a really interesting taste, almost minty but not like peppermint. GET THE POMELO SALAD! I really liked everything else we got too - satay chicken toast amuse bouche, shrimp toast, duck confit red curry, tom kha ($10 CAD extra for the best tom kha I've ever had), even the oyster was good (not too briny, as someone who doesn't love raw oysters). The only thing I'd skip on next time is the Mushroom & Tofu Stir-Fry, which was a bit too salty and didn't feel that unique compared to the rest of the meal. It honestly made me realize how much I miss ginger in everyday cooking. The stir-fry is a bit oily, but it seems intentional, helping keep the glass noodles from clumping and giving them that smooth, glossy texture. We started with the ceviche bar and selected the hamachi tiradito. This was a dish full of many flavours and textures. I found the dish pleasing to my taste buds, but a bit overwhelming as there were several different components on the dish (various sauces, garnishes). The featured pastry dish was delicious! I enjoyed the sweet and salty flavour profile from the meat and raisins with a bit of spice from the Peruvian-style sauce on top. Our main dishes were both fantastic as well. The truffled chicken pappardelle with shaved truffle on top was yummy, and the pasta was definitely fresh and made in-house. The walnuts added were a simple but excellent touch for added texture. The duck rice was also a solid staple, and I loved the additional duck meat mixed within the cilantro beer rice. Finally, we ended with the strawberry mousse cake for dessert.
