There are lot of food options to choose from including vegetarian options, and sandwiches and wraps come with a side choice of pasta/mixed greens/ potato salad or fruits. I've visited three times so far, twice on a Saturday around lunch time, and on a Monday for a late breakfast. The food never disappoints. I've had the Scramble #1 (goat cheese, avocado, and tomatoes) which is probably my favorite so far, as well as a Meat Lover's Omelet, and a Cobb Salad. The fresh-made bread is delicious. Service is fast and friendly, and I've always been able to find seating, though when I left closer to noon on Monday the line to order was to the door so I was glad I arrived when I did. Cool to see this place busy because these are the types of establishments you want staying in business. I ordered the chipotle chicken sandwich. They cook the chicken breast fresh to order on the stove top ( about 5-7 oz ). I got the Italian bread for my sandwich. They toast the bread stovetop as well and apply hefty amounts of butter. Maybe too much, but still Very tasty. The chipotle mayo is a nice touch along with the fresh tasting tomatoes. They use cheddar which works really well on this sandwich. I met a friend here for breakfast recently. Not a lot of ambience - its in te corner of a strip mall and the decor is pretty basic. the staff was very friendly and efficient. Met our daughter here for a quick lunch on a Saturday. First visit. You order first then find a table. This can be a little stressful if you want to eat in because it's not a big place. However they are quick to clear the tables and some people dont even wait they just grab a spot. I ordered the corned beef sandwich for myself. It was just ok, the corned beef had a few grizzle pieces but the rye bread was super good. Hubby had the golf club sandwich he said it was good and I ordered my daughter the 2egg breakfast with Patty sausage wheat toast and a side of avocado. They scrambled the eggs and added shredded cheddar. She loved her breakfast and made little avocado toast with egg. That was cheaper than getting the avocado toast. It had a kalamazoo vibe to it. This focuses their menu, often yielding tasty results. Half Day Cafe is one of these places. I visited with some friends recently after running / walking in a charity 5K. We were hungry for good, healthy food and that's what we got here. There were ample vegetarian options. My grilled vegetable pita contained a nice array of fresh vegetables (broccoli, squash, carrots and more) with a sauce that was not over the top (a common sin for this type of sandwich). Everyone in our party was impressed by their meals (props to the Peppadew Pepper Wrap from my running friend). What makes this place worthy is that its food is fresh, distinctive, creative and tasty. This is not a cookie cutter sandwich shop. The people who designed the menu, those who execute it and the folks behind the counter care about what they do. Half Day Cafe fit the bill. Their food is prepared from very fresh ingredients behind the counter where you place your order, allowing customers to closely follow the preparations. I ordered the omelette with roasted veggies and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious roasted Brussels sprouts are in an omelette. The roasted potatoes on the side were perfectly seasoned and crispy. There are several types of toast to choose from, with large slices cut from freshly baked loaves of bread. Yes, their bread is baked fresh daily on the premises. Along with muffins and other bakery sweets, the aroma is what always makes my mouth water when I walk in the door. This visit, we shared a seed-nut-fruit bar that was the perfect blend of sweet and salty. Coffee is always fresh and plentiful with self-serve refills. And don't miss the fresh squeezed orange juice. It's these little touches that set this breakfast and lunch gem a notch above its competitors in Rochester, a city with lots of good breakfast spots to choose from. We haven't tried lunch but the soups are made from scratch and the wraps and hearty sandwiches look delicious. Fresh fruit salads are a treat anytime. I make lots of quiches at home so typically skip their daily quiche, but I have tried the spinach quiche and was sold. Very good. Vegetarians as well as meat lovers will have many choices here. The dining area is large and clean. I love the original artwork, a nice creative touch. Orders are placed at the counter and served at your table by friendly staff. The system is quite efficient. The atmosphere is very casual and homey. My husband and I both ordered the Early Bird, with Nutella/Banana Crepes, 2 eggs any style and choice of meat. The crepes and eggs were done perfectly. I am not a fan of sausage patties, but that is my preference. The coffee station is nice, but the Hazelnut tasted like it had been sitting for a while by the time we had some. I do wish they offered a kids menu, but they don't. We ordered chocolate chip pancakes for my kiddo that came with fruit and bacon. My son ate about half of his meal for $10.
