I work at one of the major studios and around the holidays, sent over vegan cupcakes to a couple of clients and nobody even knew (hehe)...whoever says it's "hard" to be vegan hasn't been to Half Baked. They have "regular" cupcakes/cakes as well but I can only speak for the vegan options. This past Sunday at a birthday party we had a cupcake tower with a cake on top that is now making my mouth water just thinking about it! I paid $200+ for 40 cupcakes that were not cute or good! Plus $20 or 30 delivery fee!!. $20 something for the writing (they ended up waiting what they wanted to) I don't remember if they charged me for the loner stand., but that was another BAD thing the cupcakes did not fit, it was to small and the ribbon that was used to "decorate" and make it look pretty was horrible and badly cut! We ended up using our own cupcake stand plus theirs! Such a disappointment after seeing all these pictures and reviews. I thought All this money would be worth it, it was my BFF bachelorette party, I was so embarrassed. I told them I wanted "Bride to be" on 20/25 cupcakes. I got the word "Bride" ... WTH a lady with an accent I guess is the owner apologized and offered to give me a dozen cupcakes. So I was like. Do I get something in writing or?? She said. this is probably one of the best cakes that I have ever bought for my daughter! We made an appointment with Carolyn? And she is one of the sweetest people ever! I told her that my daughter loves kitties and we just recently got a kitty of our own. I showed her they type of cake we wanted for my daughter's 5th birthday and she truly delivered! You pretty much get what you pay for! Her red velvet cake is do good even my daughter ate a big piece after she cut her cake. Wow. Just got some couture cupcakes for a party, they were an absolute hit. I asked them to design a dozen mini cupcakes in 3 completely different themes. Paris, Fishing, and Basketball. Random! I don't know how they do it, but they do it. On top of each little mini cupcake were adorable hand sculpted and painted fondant pieces. The cupcakes were a total and complete hit. And, yes of course, they tasted just as good as they looked. And, healthier to boot. Such a FAN, Halfbaked is my amazing party secret weapon. read more

I just picked up cupcakes for an office party and decided to check the nutritional info BEFORE I partake, YAY ME! I noticed that they include Weight Watchers points on the nutrition info page! KUDOS to Half Baked, that is super cool of you! And...now that I've tried them.....my vote is........well, I need more thumbs to give you my vote. With our first anniversary coming up, I realized I'd forgotten to write a review for this outstanding bakery! I was initially unsure I'd be able to find a cake that could be as super allergy friendly as I needed it to be, yet have it still taste good to our guests. These guys made our wedding day so special with the cake they did for us! The flavors and texture of the cake were perfect and delicious, and they were SUCH a pleasure to work with! I called on my lunch break the day of my friend's birthday (who happens to be allergic to gluten) to see if the cupcake I promised for her birthday dessert was available. I popped in after work (I live across the street, blessing or curse is to be decided). The cupcake was sold out by the time that I went to grab her birthday dessert. These ladies fired up the oven for my one gluten-free cupcake and were extremely patient while I tried to pick out the non-gluten-free cupcakes for the other guests. Carolyn so very kindly provided the amazingly delicious VEGAN cake and cupcake tower for my wedding and it was everything I had envisioned! She was able to make a chevron cake top and an ombre fade in the cupcakes and it was basically just pure magic. As for flavor I can't begin to count how many people couldn't believe they were vegan because they were so amazing, and as a happy little vegan I can attest to the fact that she has absolutely nailed the flavor/texture combinations. I was getting ready for my sisters baby shower so I took my images over to Half Baked. I spoke to Carolyn and I explained to her that I was not crazy about the image and she assured me that they only use the images as inspiration and would make me something that was cuter. She quoted me, what I thought, was a pretty high price so I went home and shopped around a bit. Other quotes were in the same ball park and I thought that if I needed to pay an extra $60 to get better quality of work that would be ok. I called back a few days later to order the cake and I resent the images. I arrived the day of the shower to pick up my cake and I noticed it was exactly the image that I had sent over printed on sugar paper. I was pretty disappointed but I didn't say anything. It was still a cute image and I wasn't going to make a big stink over it. I grabbed my cake and walked out. As I am leaving the sugar paper comes off and rips half way down the image. At this point I walked back in and they tried to quickly reprint the image. When Carolyn brought out the cake, it looked rushed, there were creases on the image, it wasnt cut properly and it just looked sloppy. I had no choice but to take it. I expressed my concerns with Carolyn and she saw my disappointment, she gave me a dozen cupcakes to make up for the situation. I knew there was nothing that could be done to make the situation better, the shower was in a few hours so I left with the cake and the cupcakes. Before leaving, I was asked by the employee what time the shower was at. I told her that it was at 6:30 and she suggested I take the cake out of the refrigerator by 4:30 so that I could serve the cake at room temperature. We ended up taking the cake out at 6. The party started and when it was time to cut the cake it looked HORRIBLE. There were bubbles on the sides of the cake, one was HUGE! Many of the guest commented on it. The cake was in an air-conditioned room there is NO reason this should happen. I was mortified. My sister still took pictures with the cake and her guest and all of the photos this cake looks so weird. As my sister cuts the cake she asks me what flavors each tier was, I responded with Vanilla and chocolate. The final straw was when she cuts the first slice and we find out its carrot cake. I was LIVID. I am so disappointed and sad, this was a special day in our family that was supposed to be filled with only happiness and Half baked got in the way of that for me. I immediately sent Carolyn and email about the situation and she has yet to contact me. I cannot believe they would charge as much as they do and not pay attention to important things like flavor of the cake! There was another user that had the same issue as I did. I think that for something meaningless like a snack, this might be your place but if its a special occasion - I would say STAY AWAY! They are over priced and they under deliver. Finally tried this after seeing it in facebook. I got these flavors: death by chocolate, strawberry and lemon bliss cupcakes. The price at $3 per cupcake is just about right for a cupcake. The location and service was great. As soon as I walked in the store, I was greeted and the store was a homey feeling. Now as for the verdict of the cupcakes...the icing was on the sweet side even if they claim to use half of all the bad stuff like sugar, fats, etc. the cupcake itself wasnt that moist. I had gastric bypass 3 years ago and have managed to lose 150lbs. Anyone who knows about this surgery knows you CANNOT eat too much sugar or too much fat without getting sick. (This is partly how the surgery helps you lose the weight.) However, I still have a sweet tooth! I've had to resort to learning my own substitutions for these typically fattening, calorie loaded goodies and it doesn't always work out. Until now. My boyfriend was out and about, and happened upon this little slice of heaven. He brought me home a few sweet treats and I in turn gave him huge hugs and kisses. This place is GREAT!!! I'm finally able to indulge without overindulging and either making myself sick or feeling guilty!!! The sweets I tried were soft and heavenly. They had just the right texture and sweetness to cure my cravings. They hold together very well (you all may notice that some healthier pastries have a tendency to be overly pasty from the nut flours, flaky from lack of moisture, and/or fall apart if you look at them cross-eyed). We really wanted to give this place a try, so we bought 2 cakes for 2 different occasion's. They decorated the cakes really nice but the taste of the cake sucked! It was too dense and sweet!! I had the Peanut Butter Dream cupcake and it was delicious! Moist, sweet and gone in about 3 seconds! Definitely can't taste the 'healthy" aspect at all and that's just how I like it! Bonus points for frosting the cupcakes after you order them, this means they're still fresh since they stay wrapped until you're ready to eat them. The owner was an absolute doll. Super sweet and looks so young that I thought she was an employee! And her shop is the cutest thing ever. Not bad, but not great. If their business model is going to continue with frosting the cupcake per your order, I would recommend having more than one staff at the register. There were only a few people ahead of us in line but it took too long to get our order, as the cashier person had to man the espresso machine, register, and frost each cupcake to order. I don't see what the difference would be if the cupcakes were already pre-frosted. I'm mainly giving this place a 2 because of the customer service. I understand that the cashier was working alone, though there was another girl in the back working on something else I guess, but she moved very slowly and did not seem to have much experience interacting with customers. I booked a cupcake party for our Girl Scout Daisy troop at Half Baked Co. We had 13 girls, they made cake batter and then decorated 4 cupcakes each and 1 cake pop. It was a huge success! The girls had a fun time from start to finish. The event was extremely organized and the cupcakes were super cute! Without asking they designed decorations that were specifically for Girl Scouts (the Girl Scout logo, the Daisy flowers and a campfire.) I was so impressed with there attention to detail. One of my coworkers decided to lose weight, get healthy and all that, unfortunately during this change in "lifestyle" he had a birthday. Because of his new lifestyle instead of getting him a cake from Portos, SusieCakes, or Martinos, a decision was made to get him a cake befitting his new lifestyle...so a cake and cupcakes were purchased at Half Baked.... Yikes...they were tasteless and nasty. Usually around here sweets are gone almost before they are served....but these...no way; most people took a bite and politely disposed of the rest. At least there are lots of leftovers for him to look at, remember his birthday (and just how old he is getting), and most importantly how much better things previously tasted. This review is LONG overdue, but I don't know where to begin. Nina and Christina put together the cutest desserts for my bridal shower. I asked for specific colors and items to go with my theme and they nailed it! So many compliments and so many people at my shower asked where the desserts were from. I had the cutest cake, adorable cupcakes, and other custom desserts which they were more than happy to work with me on. They came at the perfect time to set up the morning of my shower, and I didn't have to worry about a thing. They even suggested to have 2 different flavors in a two-tier cake. In this day and age where quality and prices are competitive, the key defining factor for me when rating a business is the customer service and this place is top notch!!! Amber was the lady who helped me and she was extremely helpful and courteous on the phone (which is very rare it seems today) and just as courteous when I went to pick up my order. This place seemed more like a custom order bakery although they did have a few cupcakes, cake pops, and push cake pops for sale. We were looking for a vegan cake for my one year old's birthday since he has a dairy allergy and ended up ordering 2 cakes. We did a cake tasting and ended up liking their flavors. We got a vegan chocolate cake with vanilla frosting as a smash cake and a red velvet with cream cheese as the guest cake. They both ended up being sweeter than we remembered but it was still good. The designs of the cakes were what had asked for but it was a little bit pricey for simplicity of the design. Oh, just baaaaad. As a first time customer, I was truly hoping to experience amazing cupcakes based off of the stars, but unfortunately I did not. I ordered a dozen. Lemon, chocolate, red velvet, and carrot. The lemon's were rock hard. Not even joking. I might as well used it as a paper weight. No moisture. Super dense. Just awful. The chocolate's were super dense as well. They DID have a good flavor. Just wish they were moist. They also almost tasted like they weren't baked all the way. Is this what they mean by "half baked"? The red velvet's lacked flavor as well, dense, and dry. The carrot's were very good, moist, great flavor; just how a cupcake SHOULD taste. So basically 90% of my order was discarded after one bite. That's horrible given that it's $45 for a dozen. I appreciate the money I work hard for and look to invest it into quality business exchanges. THIS quality of service is not okay. Got to do better HB! Double check your baker's process and ensure quality cupcakes are being produced. I wish I would've read some of the more recent reviews.
