My go to bubble tea spot. Still happy with it and still getting bubble tea weekly here. It's the closest tasting to the authentic Taiwan local bubble tea stores. I've been to Taiwan and grew up in Hong Kong. Tea is a huge part of my life and for Asia! Their tea is strong enough and using lactose free milk powder (if you order "fresh milk tea" then it's using real milk), perfect for my Asian body. Good boba always fresh and perfectly chewy but not too much, also using real black sugar instead of brown sugar. That's a big deal cause lots of places confused brown sugar is black sugar and it tastes totally different. I do not understand why this place has such low starring -- I LOVE the tea made here! The bobas are fresh and warm ... seriously yummy! And the customer service is a win ... I often call my order in AND they actually say "your regular" lol and who doesn't want to feel "special". And lastly in person -- always smiles and welcoming attitude. Boba is chewy and the tea is good. Before all of these other boba places came up, this is definitely the go to and even to date, it still have its place in the boba world. It was one of the earlier boba place to use fresh milk instead of milk powder. I always just get the boba fresh milk tea with grass jelly. My second favorite is the hot ginger tea during cold winter days. You can customize ice and sweetness, similar to most places. read more

After pick up dinner next door, I decided to get a fruit tea at Half and Half on a Thursday evening in early May. I received a nice greeting and it was kinda hard to hear the cashier due to the music blaring. So I ordered a large kumquat lemonade with no extra fruit balls. The sign says to wait outside which I did and waited for my number to be called. It was really fast since I was the only customer there. The kumquat lemonade was tasty and refreshing since I can control the sugar intake. read more

Great place for strong tea. I love a bitter tasting tea! My go to order is honey green milk tea with matcha. Can never go wrong with this one if you're a fan of matcha and bitterness. Their recipe is on the less sweet side. The drinks always come out pretty fast and the service is always great. There are some places to sit while waiting for your drink or to sit in and drink. Corona restrictions are laughable here. You have hordes of bicyclists come here take over the entire store with kids running around with disregard, and the adults in their infinite wisdoms take off their mask while talking in close proximity to the employees to order. The whole no mask no service line is complete BS, and it's astonishing how some adults are just being complete dolts. What's more shocking are the employees who are just turning a blind eye. Also, trying to get into this establishment can also be risky, as you have people having a corona party outside blocking the entrance. I'd suggest staying away until this business takes this a bit more seriously or if there's a vaccine. read more

I ordered a Hibiscus Tea and super sized it for 88 cents more. This brought the price to a little over $6 which I think is too pricey. Half and half is probably at the bottom on my to go list for boba drinks. But the visit here the other day wasn't too bad. First off, their boba balls are always stale and chewy hard and believe me when I say their drinks are suuuuper duper sweet (and I LOVE sweet). They are one of the only boba establishments that never offer to change the percentage of sweetness (I can ask myself, but it'd be nice to be asked!). I can see they've done major updating to the place, including their cups. I like these taller cups much better. It was so ridiculous how their cups used to be short and wider so you wouldn't be able to put them in your car's cup holders. You can't go wrong with boba, but I'd still prefer many other different places. The service is always the same here-- nothing to special nor memorable. read more

I'm addicted to Half and Half. I've tried so many different boba brands in LA but still find Half and Half offers the best boba: boba is fresh, chewy, and sweet 99.8% of the time. My recent favorite is peach green milk tea with boba. I used to get rose green milk tea with boba a lot. Sometimes when I want to completely throw my health out of the window, I'd order one of its signature: milk tea with boba and pudding. Drinks at this location is pretty consistent. The only downside is it shares a parking lot with Trader Joe's so there are times where you won't have luck when it comes to parking. It's especially busy on the weekends but you don't wait too long for your drink. One star for just how much ice they put the drink!!! I literally took 3 sips and it was GONE!!! $5.50 for a regular size cup of TEA and gone in 3 sips .... unacceptable. So I've been coming to this half and half location for awhile now and been meaning to write a review, so here it is :) Location is in a pretty decent size plaza with tons of parking, mind you it shares the lot with a Trader Joe's and you know it's always crowded at TJ so parking can get a little tough depending on the time of day. Every time I come (which is often) the staff is always nice and friendly, I have noticed the staff to be on the younger side which I think is great, they bring the energy and positive young vibes to the place. Location is very nice and hip, perfect place to come anytime and hang out with friends, do some work, or even alone. It has indoor and outdoor seating. All orders are made fresh and in a very good timely manner, I've never waited long for my drinks. I usually get the same thing all the time, I am lactose intolerance so I order off the Slush menu and add the BoBa but Friends always order different drinks and they always walk away happy :) so stop by and check them out. Ohhhhh and don't forget to ask for a stamp card, but 10 drinks get one FREE! read more

We came here for some bubble tea after a night out with friends. Half and Half is one of my go to boba shops in the SGV. There are at least one in every city. I really like the drinks here. You can customize your drinks which is a plus. The are two sizes: regular and large. The vibe here is very chill and friendly. The staff is very engaging and fun. I've been to three locations so far and the one in Pasadena is the best. The drinks are on point. I usually order the rose milk tea with coffee jelly. It always turns out tasty and delicious. The passion fruit green tea is also good. Light and refreshing. There are a variety of toppings to enhance your tea or coffee beverage. You can choose from honey boba, lychee jelly, pudding, basil seed and more. They do serve a few snack and dessert items. The interior is small but there are a few tables to sit and enjoy your drink. There is a patio seating area out front as well. Overall, the drinks are awesome and addicting. I will be back for sure! read more

So i arrive in 40 minutes and pay and 5 customers order after I paid and all got there drinks. Now I'm getting irritated because 15 mins later and my drinks aren't ready. So i ask where are my drinks? If i knew that they would be making my drinks right then and there then I would've just drove over and not did a phone order. I could not find prices for the drinks on the various menus on the walls, only for the toppings ($0.58 each) and the size upgrade ($0.88). At least the receipt showed the breakdown. For reference, the basic milk tea (#27) is $5.98 (regular size, before any extras) and the iced milk with pudding and boba (#96) is $6.98 (regular size). I wish they offered almond pudding as a topping. Also, what are QQ balls? How big are they? Are they sweetened? Would be nice to see pictures and descriptions of stuff, even if only on the website. read more

I remember Half and Half was the first place that actually had good boba when the only tea shops around were Lollicup and Tea Station. It's incredible how long the wait used to be when they launched their first store in Rowland Heights but it was totally worth it. The boba industry blew up over the past few years so I had a falling out with Half and Half because I thought their actual drinks weren't that great even though the boba was good; however, this location brought me back to choosing Half and Half over other tea shops because it happens to be convenient for me to come here when I need a quick boba fix. I only get fruity drinks here because I once had their milk tea and it was awful. I recommend getting either mango or passion fruit GT if you want something sweet and grapefruit GT if you want something more bitter. The workers here have never been rude to me and they always get my drink out within 10 minutes even when it's busy. The only thing that sucks about this location is the parking because it is located in the same plaza as CVS and Trader Joe's and everyone and their mom will decide to come in the same time as you. In conclusion, I like Half and Half again, yay! read more

It's consistently good and I have zero complaints about the flavor and quality of my drink. Service can be spotty at this location but drinks here have been solid. This is probably one of my favorite boba station in SoCal. The location is great with ample parking space and the line moves very fast. I never had to wait for more than 15-min from the time the order is placed to pick up. This is important, as combatting heat wave all summer long can take its toll, thankfully Half-Half got me covered in SGV. Late sweet tooth cravings landed us here for some Taiwanese shaved ice. There were several people waiting for their food and drinks, but there wasn't a line to place orders. Service was friendly, even after waiting for bae and I to decide - menu was pretty large and there were lots of items to choose from. We already knew we wanted shaved ice, but deciding on toppings took some time. They have an option to customize the brown sugar shaved ice with up to four toppings (that's generous in my book) so we agreed on honey boba, mung beans, real taro pieces, and taro pudding. They top it off with complimentary condensed milk! We were so surprised by the massive size and generous amount of each topping. It was sweet, refreshing, and hit the spot, especially the taste and texture of the boba. I don't normally like mung bean and I can say I enjoyed it. Nothing I would change except the taro pudding...gonna double up on that yummy boba instead! Bae and I still crave their shaved ice and have been searching the Bay Area for something that will hopefully suffice in satisfying our craving.
