However, I found a folding door that was no longer working after a week or so after the completion of the job. Seems I had missed so communication. I contacted this company as a property owner with multiple rental properties to ask about services and eligibility for available incentives and grant programs, as the information online was unclear. My goal was to have an initial conversation to see which properties might qualify before moving further. The representative said she could help, but the call focused on collecting detailed information to pass to a specialist rather than answering general questions. I was asked for my billing address and the exact addresses of all properties. When I asked why this was needed at such an early stage, she explained they use addresses to look up assessment values, square footage, and photos or details from sites like Zillow before an audit. I explained that online data often does not reflect conditions relevant to insulation needs, basement/attic size, etc and that I was happy to provide full details once we determined it made sense to proceed. I was told I likely would not receive a call back without providing addresses. After giving one address for a property we were open to getting a quote on, I was told a callback would take about four days. Five minutes later, I received another call saying they would not be able to help, without any explanation given. Overall, it appeared the priority was evaluating properties to decide business viability, instead of first discussing services or eligibility. read more

Firstly, we have agreements with Halco for everything at a cost of $77.00 a month and have had these agreements for almost five years. I'm not sure exactly when I made the appointments for maintenance on our Furnace and AC but the appointment was scheduled for 5/14/26, they cancelled it, illnesses. Rescheduled to 5/29/26, cancelled again, illnesses. Rescheduled again, 6/17/26, not cancelled. On 7/6/26 I scheduled appointment to have a couple things done for today which I made sure I was prepared for, 7/23/26. Got a call this morning, cancelled, illness. Rescheduled. Just putting the following, my personal situation, out there. My husband has Parkinsons. He has been in and out of the hospital and nursing home rehab since last March which has left me with making sure everything at home is taken care of. Sometimes I can do things myself but other times I need help. My point is, when an appointment is made I have to make sure I'm prepared and able to be home which means I have to change things around and when I do that but then get cancelled I then have to decide when I can see my husband, change other appointments or other things that need my attention. I'm pretty frustrated by this company right now. Do they not have the workers? Why are the workers they have always "sick"? They only get three stars because when they do show up the work is good but I have to decide if $77.00 a month is worth it or just put that money away every month and pay out of pocket for service elsewhere. read more

We had Halco do the original 40 panel solar installation in July 2015 and we were very, very happy with their installation. In November 2023 we had to have a new roof installed on our home. They coordinated taking all the panels down, storing them next to our home, and reassembling them. While it was $5,000 to do this, it has been worth it for sure. We have always had a professional response and taking care of any problems that have come up. We go 6 months of the year with NO electric bill. The payback is about 7 years on this kind of investment, but we are very happy with their product and customer service, plus we own American made solar panels! read more

We have used their services since 1998 and I wouldn't go anywhere else when you can simple trust them. Note - This review is based on the companies estimate process. I have not used them to do any work. Recently had several contractors come by for estimates to install aprox 50ft of gas line so we could replace our electric stove with a gas one. Was shocked to see Halcos estimate come in at nearly 4xs the price of the other contractors. The prices respectively were $875, $1125, and $1275. Halco came in at over $4,000! I asked them to see if it was a mistake, and they said no. It would take 20 man hours to do the job. None of the other contractors estimated more than 8 man hours. Extremely disappointed. read more

The workers are polite and efficient and always get the job done. We have been on a service contract for 20 years, so when we DO call them we save on parts and the cost of their time. I am writing this review based on an experience I had with HALCO crew and the fact that they cut open the ceiling of a room not knowing that there was vermiculite in the ceiling then stopped working and said they were not certified to work with asbestos and they could not complete the job. They then called to schedule another appointment to come finish the job and my boyfriend questioned wether we were safe since we've been "exposed" they rolled their eyes and laughed and smirked and it made things WAY WORSE! I'm only leaving this review to warn others for their SAFETY! I am now a little more educated on the possible dangers of vermiculite and asbestos unfortunately it's too late to prevent it.. read more

After 10 years of a troubled life, my Halco installed DX geothermal system is now junk. The system was installed by Halco 10 years ago. The system never lived up to either its advertising of my expectations, as annual costs were $1300.00 in electricity to replace $1000.00 in propane. Together with Halco's annual $300.00 maintenance fee (required to maintain the warranty) I was paying 600 bucks more a year than I was paying previously for propane. Never mind that the Geothermal cost $30,000 to install. It was recently determined that the Halco installed ground loop is leaking freon. This is just beyond the period covered by the 10 year extended Halco warranty. The cost of locating the leak or installing a new ground loop system is prohibitive. And frankly, the geothermal has been buggy ever since installation, and I am very tired of seeing repairmen. I will be installing a propane furnace for heating, to be installed by anyone other than HALCO. I am looking forward to not seeing a repairman for a good long while! The contract that I signed ten years ago stated that Halco has a 100% Customer Satisfaction Money Back Guarantee. I will see if they will honor that guarantee. Being out 30K for equipment which is only good as a boat anchor makes me 0% satisfied. read more

I called Halco about 2:00 in the afternoon to request service for a leaking well pump. By 6:00 Tyler (the serviceman) called to say he was on his way. By 6:30 pm he was here and by 7:00 pm the repair was made and the fix tested and verified. I had water again! Tyler was very pleasant and professional. The fee was reasonable and he asked if there was anything else that required repair before he left. We are very pleased with the service we received from Halco and we feel we got good value for the cost. Halco tried to sell us an "extended warranty" type program which I declined. Our furnace blower motor burned out yesterday. I called Halco and requested service ASAP and was told the soonest available was today. The person was very service oriented, did her job by asking about possible furnace replacement, but listened when I asked to please focus on repair. The service tech, Tim, arrived on time after calling, did an excellent and quick evaluation of the problem and was abe to track down a replacement motor that would work with our very old furnace. Picked it up and got us going again. He also explained to me other things that could be helpful in the future. Not cheap but in line. read more

This is a great company. I have them do annual maintenance on my water softener, water heater, and geothermal system. Very knowledgeable crew on their team. Friendly and professional. Always call 20 minutes or so before they arrive, put protective covers over their shoes before they enter, and clean up their work areas before leaving. I've had issues where water was spilling out of the water heater. They came quickly and made sure to fix the problem and even set up a bypass in case it happened again before leaving. Matt knows so much about geothermal systems and has explained clearly to me how it works and what he has done when working on it. These guys are great. Highly recommend them. read more

I contracted with HALCO to install a geothermal heating and cooling unit two years ago. I am pleased with the heating and cooling but oh how I wish someone else had installed it. Let's start from a project management perspective. If you want to use this company, you really have to like using the phone because I called them... a lot. I signed a contract in September and was told they would start work in mid-November. All told, I should be cozy and warm before the end of the year. Well, November comes, November goes. I call, and they send someone out, they say they are running late on the machine, but they will have the ducting team come out and get started so the work is done before the wells are drilled, should still have heat be the end of the year. December comes, December goes. Still no word, so I call again. Still running late; they will call me when the can get a team out. Breeze past Jan/Feb/Mar and we are still waiting. They finally say they can get started soon. They will call with updates. Knock, knock. "We're here! Hey, you need to get this basement clean. When we come back tomorrow you need to have this stuff moved or we will charge extra to move it for you." I finally got my unit installed in May or so, just in time for cooling season... which they never hooked up. Seriously, they never call for anything. They seem to have no concept of what CUSTOMER service is. After the outdoor team finished drilling, I had to remind them to come out and fill in the trenches and stuff. The drill team did a considerable amount of damage to my property (more on that later)... I had had to threaten not to sign the loan paperwork before they came out and fixed my lamp and yard. They still haven't fixed the trench where it enters the house, and frankly, I will do it myself. Inside the house, they did ok... until they had to seal my house. They failed and water leaked all over my basement. I had to pull the carpet up. They had to come back 5 times to finally stop the leaking. The ductwork and pump unit were installed fairly well. The living room now creaks and they didn't clean up any of the sawdust in the finished basement, but on the main floor they did a very good job. Outside... their drilling team didn't seem to know what they were doing. They broke my light fixture; sprayed mud all over the side of my house; drained my well (I still have water quality issues); needlessly drove all over my yard with a front loader during the wettest part of the season leaving 6 to 8 inch ruts that they still haven't fixed; there drilling machine tore up my driveway; they backed a trailer off my driveway and damaged the driveway and some drainage infrastructure... which they never fixed. Edit: After posting this, the owner contacted me to speak about my issues. He explained that they were having staffing issues that contributed to my poor experience and that the guy who ran my project is no longer in that position. He has also offered to come back out and fix my lawn and that my first system service is on him. I will be back to update once that service is complete. read more

Twice, they have given me a window of many hours to wait for them to arrive. Twice, they have not been there in that window and have left us having to cancel because they have come too late in the day and we made plans that should have reasonably been met if they could arrive on time. So far,, so good. We had an energy audit performed and decided to move forward with the insulation upgrade for our house. We have a cape cod style house that are notoriously difficult to efficiently heat (something we didn't know until we moved in). We also have a crawl space under our sun room that is more like an ice box in the winter and we wanted to make that space usable again (we are, after all, paying taxes on that extra square footage). I Just wanted to say that my Experience with Halco has been just great so far. I had a furnace that needed repair and they were so fast and so quick to get here. I had been talking with Lance the sales rep for about six months because I knew I had to replace my Moms' furnace and hot water heater. When the furnace went down I talked with Lance and they had a repair person out here in a couple of hours and at 8 pm at night. Kent the repair guy was just great, he wore a mask, was super polite, and really nice. He diagnosed the problem and has us right back up online with the old furnace running great. My experience with Halco has been so good that I decided to move ahead and have them do the work to replace her furnace and hot water heater! And with this kind of service response from the service manager Rodney, I am going to make sure I get the maintenance contract on all the equipment. let me start by saying on july 25th 2017 i had halco come out to give me a estimate to replace my direct vent gas water heater with a gas on demand water heater . they sent a advisor named brian he was pleasant n tried to be helpful but he had no knowledge of anything he did not even know what a overflow pipe was on my water heater he kept calling my house a mobile home my house is stick built new construction. he sits down to write up the bid then shows us the bid the price was 3900 and change including equipment n installation then he proceeds to tell us the total price was almost 5300 how ?and that i could apply for help through empower and i already had work done though empower and there is a AAHP program and becomes very pushy for us to finance through one of these programs even after i tell him i was turned down trying to get a mini loan to fix this problem. it seems to me they over inflate the prices just to justify customers applying for financing . after a few weeks around aug 15 2017 i was sent a survey asking my option of how the visit so i fill it out in detail explaining the advisors lack of knowledge and the advisor pushing us to finance and the crazy price he gave us here was there response oh we are sorry about your experience that is not how we operate as a company and he no longer works for the company and we will use your experience to coach our employees. please consider giving us another chance , so i wrote to her and the company explaining that i know i would get turned down for financing and simply asked them if they would finance in house they never listened to me ignored everything i had to say and kept pushing programs i knew i wouldn't get approved for fast forward to today 8/29/17 i got a response from the owner that basically tried to make the company look good and make it look like i was complaining because i couldn't get in house financing and he said I WAS TURNED DOWN FOR FINANCING WRONG HOW CAN YOU BE TURNED DOWN IF YOU NEVER EVEN APPLIED FOR FINANCING IN THE 1ST PLACE" and that he felt his company did everything they could for me YOU TELL ME WHAT THEY DID FOR ME NOTHING EVEN IF I DID APPLY ALL THEY WOULD HAVE DONE IS TURN IN MY PAPERWORK WOW THAT'S DOING SOMETHING FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS AND REGARDLESS what the owner says they are all about the money they could have helped me if they cared and he was sure to try n respond n rebut my 1ST truthful review"and that i didnt understand why i could not do in house financing well who in the hell wants to finance a loan for 15 yrs just to replace a water heater this company is a complete waste of time i would not recommend halco to anyone the owner will probably respond by trying to tell you that in my response to my 1st review that i accidentally deleted that i cussed and swore at him and was very rude n disrespectful and i admit i was because i felt like he tried to turn it all around on me that i am mad because i could not get financing and all they did was try n help. read more

I would give them a zero if i could. I signed up for a free energy assessment in february 2014, they came out and we did all the paperwork. The guy who did it left the company, they never notified us. A few months later, I called and we had been "forgotten" and had to do the whole assessment over again along with the financial paperwork. There is no communication at all, I kept getting requests for the same information over and over again. No one called to schedule anything or keep us up to date - I have to call them. Fast forward to Nov 2014 and we're still waiting for a working furnace. read more

I had a hot water heater, blown in insulation, furnace and windows installed 3 years ago. Nightmare after nightmare. Gas leaks, brand new furnace not running. Replaced thermostat 2 times. They insisted on a third. I knew it was not problem. Come to find out it was the air ducts were not big enough to accommodate the new furnace. They were not worried about the gas leaks but wanted a signature to get paid. Just called today to have them touch up the blown in insulation the installed even though I told them we were having the electrical done. The electrician had to cut all the wire out. Needless to say it defeats the purpose now. They refused to do any more work even touching up their error. Do not let all the 5 stars fool you. I will give 10 stars to Jason the heat tech! Awesome! He is the only one will have service. I cannot tell you how many errors they did on the whole project. Enough for me to call them HELCO! read more

We've been working with Halco for over 20 years and they are the BEST! They put in our furnace in Lyons and our boiler in Geneva, replaced every toilet in the house, removed the knob & tube system in the attic, insulated the basement and attic, replaced our water heater ten years ago, and just installed a new on-demand system last week. Upgrading our electric service is probably next on the list and we'll be using Halco. They do our annual maintenance on the boiler and we have the service agreement where we get guaranteed same-day service, free service calls (I think), and 2 hours of free labor per year - so worth the few extra bucks per month. We're working in concert with Halco to lower our carbon footprint. Solar panels and zero utility costs are the goals. We get closer every year thanks to this top notch company. We've heard complaints that they're too expensive and we disagree - you get what you pay for and we don't want to have to worry about something AFTER it's been fixed. I have had good and bad experiences with Halco. Had their annual maintenance plan for plumbing and heating. The heating plan I have no complaints about except that they say they will contact you each year and they never have. I have to call them - no biggie. Using the plumbing service, the guy broke my drain cover in my bathtub (down inside the pipe) and told me it was like that when he got there - it was not. Quote to fix it? $600 - $1,000 depending! Hired them to install a motion sensor light - it does not work properly, even after their attempt to fix it. Their answer? I can pay for them to install a second new light. I was still considering transferring my maintenance plan to a new home that I recently purchased because I like that they keep you at the top of the list if you have a problem - I have called no fewer than 10 times and the office staff always tells me they have to check with someone and call me back about my questions. They either call and leave a message or don't call back - but I can never seem to reach that person again when I try to call back. So we start all over again! I really don't have time for that and I finally responded by cancelling my maintenance agreement. Gave them more chances than I probably should have. read more
