Finally, a Halal Bros that is finally easy to get to. This Halal Bros is in a strip complex and is so much more convenient for people who live in North Austin. It also has parking! It has everything the Halal Bros at UT has to offer and really you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I love getting the Combination Over Rice (Lamb/Chicken). The meat is always super tender and they really fill up the boxes. This usually lasts me two meals. Sauces are great and you can always ask for extra. Fries with sauces is also a great choice. I highly suggest you order online or phone in and then come in. Now for the food. I had the combination on rice. The portions are good. May be big for some folks but was a good size for me. Flavor wise it was so so for me. The rice was flavorless be meats were very salty. Be sure to have a drink handy because at times I felt there was so much salt on my palate that I couldn't take another bite. The food is fresh but it just didn't do it for me. I came for the chicken kabob plate which was plentiful, aromatic and flavorful but was won over by the loaded fries. Those fries are gonna keep me coming back. The fries are not stringy or fat wedges but thick cut, crispy, covered in a spicy red sauce and savory white sauce. Great balance of flavors and my biggest recommendation. So I got the lamb shawarma over rice. The rice was really good. But there was no sauce on it. Like at all. Compared to everyone else's pics, really in consistent. The dolmas tasted like they were out of the tin can. Kinda like ever fast food gyro place. Also they are where dry on the outside and strangely oily on the inside, like they take them out of the can, patted them down. I got a lemon wedge. Didn't help but it was okay. This location is the worst. After the longest wait they gave us fries that were cool and extremely soggy after sitting on their shelf for who knows how long while the lid's condensation had clearly covered the fries. On top of that, they mixed up our orders, gave my partner lamb in pita instead of beef in pita and gave me beef over rice rather than lamb over rice. We could each CLEARLY tell by the taste of the meat. Both the lamb and the beef were also overcooked. My partner brought all three items to the counter and explained the state of our food. The lady at the counter denied that there was a meat mix up. My partner insisted and asked that they replace our meals because we could positively taste that the meat order was wrong. She refused to have the items remade and refused to replace the soggy fries. Oh, and they would not give us hot sauce either after asking for it. Worst service experience ever. Located in a plaza and has a parking lot which is pretty convenient. The inside of the restaurant is clean and has a nice cool feel to it. Upon entering, you wait in line to order first and then find a seat and wait for your order. There are plenty of tables to sit at. Most tables can sit 4 people, but you can probably shift the tables if you have larger parties. On one side of the restaurant there is also a big "booth" with a long bench on one end and individual chairs on the other side. This is especially good for bigger parties. The staff is nice and friendly. The food is pretty awesome. The rice portions are pretty big and you will leave more than satisfied. If you don't eat too much, you may even be able to split it into two meals. If you're in northish Austin, this is definitely a great place to visit and get some awesome food. The workers here are a nightmare. They messed up two of my three falafel over rice platters and argued with me on the phone about it saying that it wasn't a mistake. They also put baklava near the register and expect you to read their minds and pick one up instead of just putting it in the take out bag. Never met a more rude woman in my life. On the food alone, I'd give it 4 stars--pretty decent middle eastern food. However, all of the dishes I've had have had some issues. I've had the "protein over rice" dish several times. The first time I ordered it, it was totally drowned in white sauce to the point where the flavor of the sauce dominated the dish and was almost inedible. I would order these dishes with the white sauce on the side. Additionally, the to-go containers for the "over rice" dishes are over filled and tend to make a mess if you try to eat out of them. The gyro wraps have a similar problem. The pita was *very* overfilled and I had to eat about half of the contents with a fork before I could pick it up and eat it as you would a normal gyro or wrap. Overall, these are pretty small nitpicks and could be easily fixed. read more

I moved back to Austin and heard these guys changed their name and opened up an actual restaurant. I knew them back then as the chicken and rice guys you go to after leaving Latitude after 2am. It's been a decade - not disappointed at all. I tried the Halal Guys franchise and they don't come close to this place. This place is the closest you'll get to the original in New York. The spicy sauce isn't as spicy as the original, but that's a good thing, trust me. I ordered lamb over rice. Food came out hot and fresh, rice had the perfect texture, lamb was nice and tender, and you could put on as much sauce as you want afterwards. And I came sober, so it's legit. read more

I love Halal Bros. Food is amazing but sadly, this specific location is not it. Multiple instances of missing food items (I pay extra to have stuff that's missing??? Like what). Never had a problem with the Guadalupe location and they are 100% more busier than this location. Legitimately, no reason for missing stuff. Also had an instance where the system was down... least you can do it update the site so that we can't order online. Almost didn't get my meal had I not save a photo of my online order. Didn't even send an email receipt. It has happened enough that I wanted to write this review. People going to hate but whatever. read more

Food is excellent however the manager could rethink how they handle the lunch crowd. I always order out and the food gets to me correct however while eating in our order was lost. It was the first time I had even eaten in the restaurant. We waited 40 minutes for our order as it was lost somehow. There has to be a better way for orders to get out during the lunch rush. Hands down my current favorite place to have halal food in Austin. This place gets very busy during peak hours ie. Lunch time/dinner so order online beforehand if possible. My favorite dish to get is combo (chicken and lamb shawarma) over rice. They give a very generous portion and the right ratio of veggies to meat to rice.
