Some of the best fast, casual halal food that I've had in Queens. I ate chicken tikka over rice with a salad and a few slices of pita. It was a very reasonable portion for $7.99. The salad was a tomato, cucumber, red onion, and lettuce salad with a simple olive oil/vinegar dressing. Very disappointed. Food is good, that's why we went back after lockdown. But the server, Cook, Cashier none of them were wearing masks. The cashier wasn't even wearing gloves. When you are running a food joint, these are some basic hygiene we expect, let alone when we are in the middle of a pandemic. The stove area, prep area were not clean as well. We didnt cancel the order since they already started making. But we were so disgusted and scared (Coronavirus) to be honest that we couldn't eat. Came down from Toronto, was staying in a hotel near by and it is by far the best restaurant I found during my stay. We got the mixed platter and a philly cheese steak sandwich with fries. The mixed platter included lamb and chicken on rices with fries AND a salad on top, for about $7US. Food was vary flavourful and even the simple salad tasted great, a nice fresh taste in between savoury bites of the platter. The sandwich was also great, could have had a little extra meat but flavour was all there, and came with fries and a can of pop for about $9US. Customer service was great, very friendly staff that really tried their best to get the food to you ASAP. You can expect a little 5 min wait as the food is hot and fresh. A new restaurant that has platters and gyros. I got a mixed plate. It consisted of lamb and chicken with peppers and onions over rice. It came with french fries and a side salad with chopped onions, cucumbers and tomatoes. The chicken was marinated very well and the lamb had a nice crust to it. It was very tasty and it was not super oily like how you get it in the street carts. The rice on the other hand was a bit dry and hard but having it mixed up with the white, hot and bbq sauce you couldn't tell the difference. The meal does not normally come with pita bread but the guys who packed my food threw some pita on the side. (Ty for that). Overall I'd return back to this place if I am craving halal over rice and when I am in the area. No problems, great service and good food. There's nothing bad to say about this place, good food, friendly staff, clean bathroom lol. The staff definitely recognizes me now as a regular customer & that's saying a lot because it's only been opened for a month so far. So I frequent this place a lot. The spicy chicken hero is so good, but beware, it is pretty spicy so if you can't handle that, get your chicken over rice & drown it with the white sauce they have readily available for everyone in the fridge. Oh & their seasoned fries also pair really nicely with the sandwich. Philly cheesesteak was good, their chicken over rice/lamb over rice comes with a nice salad (some diced cucumber/tomato/onions) & a side of either fries or hummus I believe. When I get there the guy at the register who is handling all the money is also bagging all the food orders with the same dirty gloves he takes money with. Their only concern is to take your money. I ordered delivery today from them. I called and asked about my delivery and they said no it's pick up. After the guy finally realized he was wrong he hung up. I called back and they kept hanging up. Six of us tried the food -Chicken Tikka was not well marinated, spices were sub par and some pieces of meat were actually hard and crunchy. -Lamb was under marinated/ bland and hard to chew. -Beef kofta was also horrible and bland and the center was soft/ undercooked ground meat. The signature white sauce, essence of this type of food was just yogurt. To top it all they forgot to bag part of the order. Wanted to give 3.5 stars for overall experience but 4 stars because this is a local joint in the area I grew up in and they deserve recognition. Area is great (fresh meadows). Parking hard to find unless you venture off a few blocks away. Right off the LIE. Decor is mediocre (walls are nicely decorated though). Needs major upgrades to the tables and interior. Food was good for sure. Definitely a good choice in the area. Had the lamb tikka and chicken tikka fresh off the grill. Taste crappy when cold but pretty good when fresh. The side of fries and salad have a nice contrast. Hot wings pretty good but big in size (in case you are not into large wing sizes). Person in charge seems nice and knowledgeable but some of the workers seem not so enthusiastic/attentive. If I was rating service alone, it would be 5 stars. The food is solid, not quite as good as the service. I am not the biggest fan of the rice they use, nor of their salad. But to me the biggest winners here are the chicken, the fries and their generosity with how much of each they give you. Be aware, check your orders before you leave. They short you on meat. I ordered two combos and basically came with 90% rice and 10% meat. This happened twice and when I called to complain, a guy named sultan acknowledged the issue and admitted that the cost of meat is high so that's why you get 90% rice and 10% meat.
