When i took my suede shoes in for cleaning he scrubbed the suede off. When i took my sons loop fastened sneakers in for repair he glued the fasteners down, making them unusable. I tried to get my favorite shoes in for resole. He wanted $100 to resole a pair of shoes that cost $120 new. He said i should go buy new ones. I get that in this economy he probably has more business than he wants, considering he's the only shop in town, but i wont be coming back. read more

2 star reviews must refer to lack of appreciation for people who work EVERY hour the Augusta Mall is open, make leather shoes look new, fix heals and belts and most things others throw away look like new. The Chos are living the American Dream -- owning and operating a profitable business. Sure, their English isn't great. They are courteous and do the best they can when translating roughly spoken English dialects into what they can understand. When I ran an online shoe store, we sent Mr. & Mrs. Cho 100-125 shoes and boots a month. The few shoe soles and heals they didn't fix were because they noticed other flaws in the item that were not noticed. Complete honesty every single time. There have been times I have seen other customers complaining that they have to pay for services up front. It is what it is. That is there policy. Too many people left items there after a $30-45 repair. Side note, if your shoes cost $20 to buy, and a new heal is $30, sure, be frustrated--at yourself for not getting new shoes before the big event where you think you HAVE to wear THE BROKEN HEAL pumps. Great people. Great work. Speedy reliable craftsmanship every time. Bring your repairs or shoes needs a shine, walk around and window shop, eat or grab coffee then come back and be wowed. I dropped two pairs of shoes off. One for a buckle repair, the other for the leather strap that goes between toes on a Burberry flip flop. I came back an hour later, the buckle repair was fine, my Burberry flip flop on the other hand, could have been done better by a 10 year old. Not only was it sloppy and nothing like the stitching on the other shoe, the thread was white and my shoe is tan!!! I would have been upset if it were any shoe, but I'm extra pissed because it was an expensive one. I'm taking it back tomorrow to tell them to undo the mess they made. Hopefully I can find a better shoe repair place. read more

Past by this shop for many years but decided to stop in for some polish to keep my dress shoes in tip top shape. Wanted some advise on the products they used in the shop and recommendations This is not the place to ask for their advise. As some have mentioned, they didn't understand what I was asking. Simply here is all we have. Tried to show them the color and what I was looking to do with dress shoes. Gave me the completely wrong color and no advice whatsoever. Truthfully, he didn't even understand the questions I was asking. If you need your shoes fixed I guess they can do that. If you need polish or just a little advice to keep your dress shoes llooking top notch... go somewhere else. They can't help you here. Looking at product that was ready for other customers, I don't think they know how to properly polish either. I would certainly not pay for that level of polish. Shoes looked dull and flat. Following the counsel of the lady with the pump tips (whatever they are) I called ahead to see if they could fix up some old Rockport walking shoes for me. I asked specifically if they provided "Instant" service, as their name implies. I also asked the male if I would have to pay in advance and how much it would cost to have the shoes resoled. Once I arrived at the mall, I knew right away the problems others were having was cultural. So I decided to meet it head on with kindness. After an initial chilly reception, he Asian couple running the store were so nice to me after I began conversing with them. The wife of the business makes you wonder if she even wants the doors kept open to her business. Let me first start off by saying years ago I used to make key copies, and I also trained employees how to make them. I went in needing a copy made, and was told they did not carry the blank for the key, I knew that had to be false because MOST house keys are either a Kwikset or Schlage, the key I needed was a Schlage blank, but my original didn't have the traditional look (boxier shaped top vs the trad oval). I started to walk out when I realized I had a traditional Schlage key on my keychain. I turned around asked her if she could make a copy of that key and she said yes. So I asked her to cut that blank with with the key I originally wanted cut. She insisted it wouldn't work. I told her if it didn't the I wouldn't ask for a refund, I would take full responsibility. She cut it, but started the cut too high, leaving a huge chunk along the bottom. The key wouldn't work, I didn't need to test it, but with my knowledge of cutting keys, I filed the bottom half of the key with a metal file and walla, it worked!!! I went back to get the second key cut (like I had asked for to begin with) and explained it wasn't lined up properly after filing it, it worked. She then told me it was impossible it worked. And wanted to show me on the key she made why it didn't work. She tried to point out the big chunk on the bottom only to find it filed down. And I told her no, it wouldn't have worked with it, BUT I know keys and fixed it myself. She was welcome to come to my store so I could show her it did in fact work. At this point it is VERY OBVIOUS she intentionally cut the key wrong in the first place. She made a second copy and this time didn't cut all the grooves properly so it wouldn't work. This woman obviously doesn't care if the business doesn't do well with her attitude and the service she gives her customers. I will say that her husband did seem very polite and friendly. If I had dealt with him I think things would've gone differently, but unfortunately the woman was who I got. I don't know how the shoe repair of the business is (the husband's side), but it's clear the woman doesn't want to offer key copies. If you can get to Walmart, or a lock smith vs there, save your money and sanity, give your business to someone who wants it. read more

I had a very bad experience with Hakky Instant Shoe Repair. I prepaid for the replacement of 2 pair of pump tips. I went back to pick up my shoes, and the Asian female worker could not find my shoes. She begin to have me check in other customer's bags to confirm if they belong to me. She continued to offer me other customer's shoes to confirm if they belong to me over and over. She finally began to laugh and laugh with the Asian male, and stated that I don't have your shoes and you must have already picked them up. She was very unprofessional and extremely hurtful by not handling the matter professionally. I went home to pull my banking transactions to confirm payment. I then called Hakky back to tell them that I have confirmation of payment, and my belief is that they offered someone else my shoes just as other customer's shoes were offered to me. She confirmed the possibility and pretty much offered me an oh well! I explained that I would be in touch with my attorneys as this woman offered no explanation or any kind of recourse for basically losing my shoes. She told me to go ahead. Please do not use this business. They are arrogant, ignorant to business acumen, unprofessional, insulting, and are not customer oriented. read more

I have visited this shop twice. I got married in September and found my mother shoes in a shoe store at mall. The heel was a bit too tall for her so I told her I would get themcut down. I went to Hakky's and the wife was like we can't cut that much off very rudely. I was like what the ham sandwich!!! My husband fiance at the time was like what kind of service is this. So the husband comes up very quietly and said I can do it give me an hour. The wife was so shame and mad she snatched her lunch and sat down. So I went back today because I needed some heels cut for myself today. They were just sitting and eating. No work or customers. She says 15.00 and an hour. I told her was trying to go out of town she says well how about 30 mins? I said ummmm....and before I could answer she says take your shoe and come back another time and walked away and sat down. I wanted to loose my military bearing and sophistication and all my up bringing. I breathed and did the christian thing. I looked at her poor quiet husband and said thank you sir and looked at her and told her that she is very rude and I walked away. It took everything in me not to go back and let her know that if she isn't there to do or give good service then she should close down shop. She wears the pants in the family I see because her husband allows her to run off the customers. Because of her this shop gets a negative zero. Absolutely no customer service skills.
