I feel terrible to give such a bad rating but unfortunately it is accurate…read more I left a pair of equestrian boots that only needed the side panels to be fixed on one side and the bottom of the zipper to be secured. The lady said they needed the zipper to be completely replaced and gave me a collection date in 6 weeks time, which seemed excessive. Behind the lady was total chaos; in the middle of which was (and I'm sure still is) a "shoe mountain" of randomly tossed shoes. Whilst I knew the zipper did not need to be replaced, I did not want to travel an hour away to Columbia, where they would have repaired them in one week. So against my better judgement, I left them, which was my mistake. I passed by at the five week mark to check in and see if by luck they had been finished. I gave her my ticket and she said she could not find them. I scanned the shoe mountain and, after some searching, I eventually located them for her. They had not been touched. I asked her why she had not even started and she told me that she had "just found out 20 minutes ago" from the zipper supply people that they did not have zippers. I politely asked her why she didn't call them 5 weeks ago and she just silently handed me the boots. I then asked her if she could just fix the panels and she said she could but couldn't guarantee when they would be finished. I took them and left. I have previously had (extremely fast) leather repairs done (tack and a saddle) by a gentleman who is a retired jockey, who works out of Oak Manor Saddlery. I passed by with the boots to see if it would be something that he could fix. He confirmed that the zipper did not need to be replaced and fixed them beautifully within days! I am so grateful to Christy and everyone at Oak Manor Saddlery, they are a fantastic group of professional, friendly and helpful people. Unfortunately, the lady and gentleman who run Fox Shoe Repair are clearly overwhelmed, and Aiken needs a professional cobbler. So if there are any budding cobbler mountaineers out there, there is a shoe mountain waiting to be scaled on 130 Park Ave SE Aiken...

I took it in to be tailored as it was a bit over sized. When told that wasn't something he wanted to tackle.. I asked to have a zipper installed as I am a disabled vet and had problems with the original snaps... long story short he removed my snaps (The zipper was behind so no need) installed fake "Rivets" and didn't even seat/secure them with a tool..just pushed them in "Plugged" the hole with them. Well I lost two of them the first night I wore it. I found them on the floor. I ordered a tool to see if I could seat them, but I bought cheap wrong dies that wouldn't work. The second night worn, the zipper tore loose from the hand stitch. All in all this was beyond a shoddy rushed job that I waited over a month for. I paid $200 for the coat and $150 for this "Work". I didn't take it back and complain, I figured this is the work they do and didn't want to wait weeks again to wear a football jacket when the season is about over. I know how to sew (Thanks grandma) so I will take the $150 loss and just do all the work all over myself. So maybe I got a bad day job, I don't know...but I am throwing this out there to all. If it happened to me with my prize item..I would think hard about giving them your item. I am adding pictures of rivet heads, holes in jacket and zipper and stitching.

I was so disappointed to have to cancel my trip to Aiken over the holidays, but as luck would have it my brother came down. I didn't want to ask him to take a picture of every shoe on sale in my size as he had so much to do to get on the road. So I called the store. A lovely woman named Rose was kind enough to look through the sale shoes and send me pictures--top view/side view, clarify colors, style, staying-on-ability (or the lack of it), etc. Also to walk me through their regular stock availability over the phone and by text. She really went above and beyond. I ended up with four pairs which are all wonderful. The transaction was easy. She even texted me when my brother was running later than he expected that he wasn't there yet. I HIGHLY recommend this store. EXCELLENT customer service. Thank you Rose!
